Springdale is a census-designated place in Lancaster County, in the Olde English District of north-central South Carolina, bordered to the north by the city of Lancaster, the county seat. The location puts RV travelers within reach of state parks, county parks, private RV parks, and reservoir shorelines on both sides of the North Carolina border.
The closest developed campground is Andrew Jackson State Park, a compact South Carolina state park north of Lancaster on U.S. Highway 521 that commemorates the boyhood home of the seventh president. To the southwest, Lake Wateree State Park sits on one of the state's larger reservoirs and offers waterfront and pull-through RV sites. Crown Cove RV Park provides a private full-hookup option in the area.
For travelers combining a Springdale stop with a Charlotte-area visit, Ebenezer Park on Lake Wylie near Rock Hill and the Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA Journey are both within roughly an hour's drive to the north, making them practical add-ons or overnight stops on the way through the Carolinas.
Things to do around Springdale
The Springdale area sits in the rolling Piedmont near the North Carolina border, with easy access to the Catawba River corridor and its chain of reservoirs. Lake Wateree offers boating, kayaking, and a well-known fishery for largemouth and striped bass, crappie, bream, and catfish, with a public ramp and tackle shop at the state park. Lake Wylie, just north near Rock Hill, adds swimming and paddling at Ebenezer Park.
Andrew Jackson State Park is a good half-day stop, with an 18-acre fishing lake, a museum focused on the seventh president's boyhood, an equestrian statue by Anna Hyatt Huntington, a replica one-room schoolhouse, and short loop trails suitable for kids. The Charlotte metro, roughly an hour north, adds urban attractions, sports, and dining.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RVing in the Springdale area. Daytime highs are typically mild, humidity is manageable, and the lakes stay busy without the peak-summer crush. Wildflowers and hardwood color mark the shoulder seasons in the Piedmont, and lake temperatures stay comfortable for paddling into October.
Summer brings hot, humid conditions across the Carolina Piedmont, with afternoon thunderstorms common. Campgrounds fill on weekends and holidays, and state park sites at Andrew Jackson and Lake Wateree are known to sell out on weekends well ahead of arrival. Booking early is essential from Memorial Day through Labor Day, especially for waterfront and full-hookup sites.
Winter is the quietest stretch. Andrew Jackson State Park and Lake Wateree State Park are open year-round, and Ebenezer Park on Lake Wylie also stays open through the off season, so cool-weather RV stays are workable. Overnight temperatures can dip below freezing, so travelers should plan for cold-weather hookup and tank management.

This was our second time renting from Matt and Shannon, and once again everything was smooth from start to finish. Their RV made our weekend at the Ebony Horsemen Rodeo comfortable and stress-free. Can't wait to book with them again for next year's event!

Here’s a polished rewrite of your review: --- Matt was an outstanding host. He was flexible when I needed to adjust both the drop-off location and the rental dates for the RV. He personally met me to hand over the RV, walked me through how to use the equipment, and made sure I felt comfortable. Throughout the process, he was attentive and responsive to my concerns, which made the experience smooth and enjoyable.
