Camping near White Knoll, South Carolina
White Knoll is an unincorporated community in central Lexington County, South Carolina, about five miles south of the town of Lexington and roughly fifteen minutes west of downtown Columbia. The area sits along South Carolina Highway 6, giving RV travelers direct connections to I-20 and I-26 and quick access to Lake Murray, the Congaree River corridor, and the capital city.
The surrounding Midlands region is a practical base for RV renters. Nearby private parks include Barnyard RV Park and Mr Zs RV Park for full-hookup stays, Big Rig Friendly RV Resort for larger coaches, Siesta Cove Marina- RV Park on the shoreline of Lake Murray, and Cedar Creek Resort Clothing Optional for adult-only travel groups. Most sites in the area offer 30/50-amp service, sewer, and pull-through access suited to rental rigs.
Because Lexington County lies on relatively flat sandhill terrain between the Piedmont and the coastal plain, road access is straightforward for renters unfamiliar with towing, and grocery, fuel, and propane are close at hand.
Things to do near White Knoll
Lake Murray anchors most outdoor plans. The 50,000-acre reservoir is minutes north of White Knoll and offers boating, bass and striper fishing, swimming, and public boat ramps, with Dreher Island State Park providing lakefront access about thirty miles from Columbia. Guests at Siesta Cove Marina- RV Park stay directly on the water.
Congaree National Park sits about forty-five minutes southeast and protects one of the largest intact old-growth bottomland hardwood forests in the country, with free entry, a boardwalk loop, and paddling on Cedar Creek. Closer in, downtown Columbia offers Riverbanks Zoo and Garden, the South Carolina State Museum, and the Three Rivers Greenway along the Congaree, Broad, and Saluda rivers.
For rainy afternoons, Lexington itself has the Icehouse Amphitheater, local breweries, and the Lexington County Museum.
