Campgrounds and RV parks near Celina, TN

Dale Hollow Lake is the main draw. The clear, forest-lined reservoir covers about 27,700 surface acres with roughly 620 miles of shoreline, giving boaters and anglers plenty of room. Dale Hollow holds the world-record smallmouth bass and is regarded as a trophy smallmouth fishery, and the Obey River below the dam is known for rainbow and brown trout. Marinas around the lake, including Sulphur Creek Resort, rent pontoons, houseboats, and fishing boats. On the state-park side, Standing Stone offers day-use hiking, swimming in a large pool, small-lake paddling on Kelly Lake, tennis, basketball, and picnic areas. Trails such as the 4.7-mile Lake Trail wind through wildflower-rich forest on the Eastern Highland Rim. Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park adds an 18-hole championship golf course, a lodge with dining, and a full-service marina for families splitting time between the RV and the water.

The camping season on Dale Hollow runs heaviest from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with July and August the busiest weeks on the water. Private resorts around the lake, including Sulphur Creek Resort, tier their rates by season, with premium pricing through midsummer and shoulder rates in late spring and early fall. Cabin rentals at some properties typically open around April 1. Spring brings the strongest fishing pressure for smallmouth and trout, along with wildflower hikes on the Cumberland Plateau. Summer is peak family season on the lake. Fall cools quickly and thins the crowds, and by late fall many private marinas reduce services. Winter is quiet, with the American bald eagle regularly spotted around the lake, since Dale Hollow hosts the second-largest wintering eagle population in Tennessee and Kentucky. One important planning note: the campground at Standing Stone State Park is closed for a multi-year renovation. RV travelers should route through Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park, Sulphur Creek Resort, Dale Hollow Paradise, or Banks of the Cumberland Campground during that window.

Roads into the Celina area are two-lane state highways through hilly, forested terrain. Big-rig drivers heading to Standing Stone should note that vehicles over 30 feet must enter the park via Highway 52 to Highway 136, because a bridge inside the park cannot accommodate vehicles longer than 30 feet. Hookups and site sizing are generally solid at the developed campgrounds. Standing Stone sites, when open, offer 20/30/50-amp electric plus water hookups, with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill, backed by flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station. Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Dale Hollow provide electric hookups, drinking water, flush toilets, and a dump station, though most sites are not full hookup. Cell service is uneven in the coves and hollows around the lake and inside Standing Stone, so travelers should download maps and reservation confirmations before arrival.
