Campgrounds and RV parks near Colonial Heights, TN

Colonial Heights is an unincorporated community in Sullivan County, Tennessee, sitting between Kingsport and Blountville in the Tri-Cities region of upper East Tennessee. RV travelers use it as a base for the Holston River valley, the Bays Mountain foothills, and Bristol Motor Speedway, all reachable within a short drive. Interstate 81 runs a few miles east, which makes rig access straightforward from most directions. The closest full-service state option is Warriors' Path State Park, a 950-acre park located around the Fort Patrick Henry Reservoir on the South Fork Holston River, minutes from town. Bristol / Kingsport KOA Holiday in Blountville sits just off Interstate 81 near the airport and accommodates all RV sizes with pull-through sites and 30 and 50-amp electrical hookups alongside full water and sewer connections. Smaller options nearby include Rocky Top Campground and RV Park, Holston Hideaway, and Appalachian Caverns Campground, the last of which sits less than 10 minutes from Bristol Motor Speedway and Boone Lake. Together these sites cover the range from state-park hookup camping to private full-hookup resorts and rustic primitive sites.

Warriors' Path State Park uses the Tennessee State Parks reservation system. Reservations for campsites may be made up to one year prior to arrival date, and reservations are required for all campsites, with the campground check-in station and camp store near the Main Campground entrance. All reservations must be made at least one day in advance via the Warriors' Path website, or by calling the park office Monday through Friday or the camp store Wednesday through Friday at least one business day in advance. There is a non-refundable Advanced Reservation Fee per campsite that provides for managing the reservation system. Private parks book directly. Bristol / Kingsport KOA Holiday uses the KOA site and app, and for Appalachian Caverns Campground availability, information, and site booking, campers should call 423-491-2548. Race weekends and holidays sell out early, so book those months in advance.
