Camping near Forest Hills, Tennessee
Forest Hills is a small residential city inside the Nashville metro area, on the southwest side of Davidson County. It has no campgrounds within its own limits, so RV travelers base themselves at parks in surrounding Nashville and use Forest Hills as a quiet reference point close to Radnor Lake State Park, the Warner Parks, and the Belle Meade area.
Most nearby options sit along the Music Valley corridor or on the shoreline of J. Percy Priest Lake, both a short drive east of Forest Hills. Trinity RV Park and Campground, Nashville KOA Resort, Nashville RV Resort and Cabins, and Two Rivers Campgrounds cluster near Music Valley and the Grand Ole Opry, while Elm Hill RV Resort sits closer to Percy Priest Lake and the Elm Hill Marina area.
This mix suits families who want city attractions during the day and a full-hookup site at night. Downtown Nashville, Cheekwood Estate and Gardens, and the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere are all within a short drive.
Things to do near Forest Hills
Radnor Lake State Park is minutes from Forest Hills and offers quiet, wildlife-focused hiking, with restrictions on biking and pets on the main trails. The Warner Parks system adds longer hiking and horseback routes just to the west. Cheekwood Estate and Gardens combines botanical gardens with rotating art exhibits, and Belle Meade Historic Site pairs a mansion tour with a working winery.
On the water, J. Percy Priest Lake covers about 14,200 surface acres and 42 miles of shoreline, with boat ramps, swim beaches at day-use areas such as Cook and Anderson Road, and fishing for largemouth, smallmouth, and striped bass, plus crappie and catfish.
For family days in town, the Adventure Science Center, the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere, and the honky-tonks along Broadway are all within a short drive.

The Nashville area has a temperate climate and a long recreation season, which is why the Corps of Engineers campgrounds around Percy Priest fill quickly on summer weekends. Peak RV season generally runs from April through October, with the busiest window between June and August.
Spring brings warming temperatures and the wettest stretch of the year, with April and May averaging the highest rainfall totals. Wildflowers bloom in the cedar glades around Percy Priest, and thunderstorms are common. Summer is hot and humid, with about half of days reaching the 90s Fahrenheit. Book early, since Music Valley parks and lakeside Corps campgrounds are heavily reserved.
Fall cools gradually, with lower precipitation and fewer bugs, making September through early November a strong shoulder season. Winter is mild by regional standards but can bring occasional freezes and light snow. The three Corps campgrounds on Percy Priest, Anderson Road, Seven Points, and Poole Knobs, operate on a spring-to-fall schedule rather than year-round.

Michael’s RV was excellent. His communication was prompt and clear. The RV is in good shape, drove easily, and was very clean. The snacks and coffee were appreciated and the airport pickup and drop off was incredibly smooth. I’d definitely rent from Michael again on my next trip to Seattle.

How to book campgrounds near Forest Hills
Reservations for the three Corps of Engineers campgrounds on J. Percy Priest Lake, Anderson Road, Seven Points, and Poole Knobs, are handled through Recreation.gov. Reservation windows open several months in advance, and popular summer weekends can sell out quickly. A cancellation fee applies. Camping is capped at 14 days within any 30-consecutive-day period across all Percy Priest campgrounds combined.
Private parks in the Music Valley area, including Trinity RV Park and Campground, Nashville KOA Resort, Nashville RV Resort and Cabins, and Two Rivers Campgrounds, book directly through each park's own website or phone line. Elm Hill RV Resort books through its own site.
For major events such as CMA Fest, race weekends, and big Titans or Predators games, reserve as early as possible.
What to expect at Forest Hills area campgrounds
Private RV resorts in the Music Valley area lean toward full-hookup, big-rig-friendly sites with concrete or paved pads, pool access, laundry, and easy rideshare access to downtown. Expect tight spacing typical of urban RV parks and steady road noise near the interstates.
Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Percy Priest are more spread out and shaded, with drinking water, dump stations, flush toilets, and hot showers, but no Wi-Fi. Sites offer water and electric hookups, and larger rigs can generally be accommodated, though site lengths vary by loop.
Bring insect repellent for summer, be prepared for afternoon thunderstorms, and follow local firewood rules. Outside firewood is restricted in the area to help prevent the spread of tree-killing pests.

Yes, every RV rental in Forest Hills booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can pull out of the driveway with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers eligible accidental damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose your coverage level at checkout, not the host. Because the policy has a few moving parts, the full details live on the RVezy Help Center where you can review them anytime before you book. They will level it, connect hookups, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees usually run $2 to $4 per mile from the host's location, and some hosts offer free delivery within a set radius of the 37215 zip code. Pro tip: ask about a stationary delivery, perfect if you want the RV as a guest suite for a Nashville weekend getaway.

recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232333When is the best time to take an RV trip from Forest Hills?
Forest Hills has one of the longest RV seasons in the country thanks to middle Tennessee's mild climate. April through early June is arguably the sweet spot, with daytime highs in the 70s, dogwoods and redbuds blooming through the Warner Parks, and fewer thunderstorms than peak summer. September to early November brings crisp 60 to 75 degree days and stunning fall color along the Natchez Trace Parkway. Summers (June to August) are warm and humid with highs around 90, so you'll want a rental with reliable AC. Winters are mild (40s daytime) but occasional ice storms happen. Pro tip: book a shoulder-season trip and you'll snag cheap RV rental Forest Hills pricing while enjoying the best weather of the year.
weather.gov/ohx/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?
You'll be more than okay, first time renting an RV from Forest Hills is genuinely easy. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup: how to level the rig, hook up water and power, run the slide-outs, dump the tanks, and use the propane stove and furnace. You're never handed keys and left to guess. If something pops up on the road, 24/7 roadside assistance is one phone call away. For your first drive, consider a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer, they handle more like a large van than a bus. Pro tip: do a short shakedown trip to Seven Points Campground (20 miles east) before tackling a bigger Smoky Mountains run, you'll build confidence fast.
tn.gov/safety/driver-services.htmlWhat if something goes wrong with the RV on my trip?
You are covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if you get a flat on I-440, a dead battery at Edwin Warner Park, or a propane issue at your campsite, help is one call away day or night. Your host is also typically just a text away to troubleshoot quirks specific to their RV. For mechanical breakdowns, RVezy customer support coordinates repairs and helps with alternative arrangements. The Nashville metro is well-served by mobile RV techs, and Camping World on Music City Circle stocks common parts. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number and your host's phone number in your favorites before you pull out of Forest Hills, two seconds now means zero stress later.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take the RV out of Tennessee or across state lines?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome on most Forest Hills RV rentals, and it's one of the best parts of basing your trip here. From Forest Hills you can easily reach Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky (215 miles north), the Great Smoky Mountains in eastern Tennessee and North Carolina (180 miles), Huntsville, Alabama (115 miles south), and Asheville, NC (290 miles). Cross-border travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance limitations. Canada travel is sometimes possible, message the host directly to confirm. Pro tip: a classic RV road trip from Forest Hills follows the Natchez Trace Parkway all the way to Tupelo, Mississippi (Elvis's birthplace), 280 scenic, low-speed-limit miles with zero commercial traffic.
nps.gov/natr/index.htmWhat should I budget for fuel on a Forest Hills RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable cost on any RV trip, but it's manageable with a little planning. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 mpg, and big Class A coaches run 6 to 9 mpg. Travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Tennessee consistently has some of the lowest gas prices in the country, often 30 to 50 cents below the national average, so filling up before you leave the Nashville metro saves real money. The Costco on Charlotte Pike and Sam's Club on Powell Place both offer member discounts. Pro tip: use GasBuddy to scout prices along your route, and fill up in Tennessee before crossing into Georgia or North Carolina where prices typically jump.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Forest Hills?
For the best campgrounds near Forest Hills, plan ahead, especially for summer and festival weekends. Corps of Engineers sites at Seven Points, Anderson Road, and Poole Knobs on Percy Priest Lake open reservations six months out on Recreation.gov and frequently sell out within hours for Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. Tennessee State Parks like Cedars of Lebanon and Montgomery Bell book through ReserveTNStateParks.com up to 11 months ahead. Private parks like Nashville KOA and Two Rivers usually have more flexibility but still fill up during CMA Fest in early June. Pro tip: if you strike out on a holiday weekend, check Nashville Shores Lakeside Resort or Four Corners Marina, they often release cancellations 48 hours before arrival.
recreation.gov/What is it like driving an RV around Forest Hills and Nashville?
Forest Hills is one of the easier Nashville-area launching points for RV driving because Hillsboro Pike, Old Hickory Boulevard, and the entrance to I-440 are wide and RV-friendly. Avoid downtown Broadway and the narrow streets of Hillsboro Village with anything over 25 feet, traffic and tight turns make it stressful. I-440 and I-40 are your best routes for getting in and out of town. Always watch posted bridge clearances on smaller local roads and stick to interstates and signed truck routes when driving a tall Class A or Class C. Pro tip: plan your route in advance with an RV-specific GPS or app so you can avoid low clearances and tight residential streets entirely.
tn.gov/tdot.htmlWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Forest Hills?
Campgrounds near Forest Hills are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Most full-service parks like Nashville KOA, Two Rivers, and Four Corners RV Resort on Percy Priest Lake offer 30 and 50 amp electric, water, sewer hookups, Wi-Fi, laundry, pools, and clean bathhouses. Corps of Engineers parks (Seven Points, Anderson Road, Poole Knobs) provide electric and water at most sites plus a central dump station, bathhouses, and lake access. Tennessee State Parks typically have electric hookups, dump stations, and potable water fills. Free dump stations are available at the Nashville Pilot Travel Center on Hayne Street and several Flying J locations. Pro tip: top off fresh water before you leave the campground, summer heat means you'll use more than you expect.
tnstateparks.com/overnight-stays/campingWhat is included inside a typical Forest Hills RV rental?
Today's RV rentals in Forest Hills are basically apartments on wheels. Most motorhome rental Forest Hills listings come with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with shower and toilet, sleeping for 4 to 8 people, climate control with AC and furnace, a TV, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a generator for boondocking, outdoor speakers, awnings, and even outdoor kitchens. Wi-Fi varies by host, some include a hotspot, others recommend you bring your own. Campervan rental Forest Hills options (Class B vans) are more compact but still include a bed, kitchenette, and often a wet bath. Pro tip: filter listings by sleep count and check the photo gallery carefully, every host equips their rig a little differently.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Forest%20Hills%2C%20TennesseeWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
RVezy hosts in Forest Hills offer plenty of useful add-ons to customize your trip: camping chairs, BBQ grills, generators, bike racks, linens and bedding packages, kitchen kits, and outdoor rugs typically range from $10 to $50 each. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on, especially for guests who want the RV waiting at a campground. Pickup is usually at the host's home in the 37215 area, with orientation taking 30 to 60 minutes. Most listings allow flexible pickup windows between 1 and 5 PM. Mileage policies vary by host: some offer 100 free miles per day, others unlimited. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a linen package for a true grab-and-go family RV trip Forest Hills experience, no shopping required.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Forest%20Hills%2C%20TennesseeHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure through the RVezy platform, no cash, no awkward handoffs with your host. You will pay your trip total (rental fees, protection plan, taxes, and any add-ons) at booking using a major credit card. A refundable security deposit is held separately and is released back to your card after the trip assuming no damage or policy violations. The deposit amount and exact timing are shown on the listing and at checkout, and the deposit is always separate from your booking payment. Keeping the deposit safe is easy: do the pickup walkthrough carefully with your host, take photos of the rig inside and out, return it with the fuel and tanks as agreed, and respect the mileage allowance. Pro tip: a quick five-minute photo walkaround at pickup and dropoff prevents almost all deposit disputes.
