Campgrounds near Minor Hill
Minor Hill is a small town in southwestern Giles County, Tennessee, close to the Alabama state line. The area sits in the West Fork Shoal Creek Valley, connected by State Route 11 to Pulaski to the northeast and to Lauderdale County, Alabama to the southwest. RV travelers use it as a quiet base between Nashville and Huntsville, with country roads, farmland, and low ridges instead of dense tourist traffic.
Campground options within a reasonable drive include Powderhorn Campground, Mill Creek RV Park, and Peaceful Acres at Plato's Branch for private-park hookups, plus Campground 2 - David Crockett State Park in nearby Lawrenceburg for state-park sites with water and electric. For a bigger destination trip, Joe Wheeler State Park sits south across the Alabama line on Wheeler Lake and offers full-hookup camping on the Tennessee River.
Most campers combine a private RV park stay with day trips to state-park trails, Shoal Creek, and the Tennessee River corridor.
Things to do around Minor Hill
Outdoor activity centers on Shoal Creek and the David Crockett State Park corridor near Lawrenceburg. The park offers hiking, biking, fishing, paddling, and birding, along with a swimming pool and historic sites tied to David Crockett's life. Kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boarding are available on the creek and Lake Lindsey.
Cyclists have the Minor Hill Bike TN Loop, a Tennessee Department of Tourist Development route through rolling countryside with a few steep climbs. Off the bike, the area around Pulaski and Giles County has small-town restaurants, live-music spots, and local farms.
For a longer excursion, Joe Wheeler State Park on Wheeler Lake adds boating, marina access, an 18-hole championship golf course, and lakeside trails within about an hour's drive south.

Mid-April through May brings warm days, wildflowers, and the busiest weekends at state parks. Mid-September through October offers cooler nights, lower humidity, and Tennessee Valley fall color, especially around Joe Wheeler and Shoal Creek.

Winter is the quietest window. Campground 2 - David Crockett State Park is open year-round, while Campground 1 runs seasonally from March 1 through early November. Freezing nights and occasional ice or snow are possible, and some private parks reduce services in the coldest months.

How to book near Minor Hill
Tennessee State Parks handles David Crockett reservations through its central online system at tnstateparks.com, with advance bookings accepted up to one year ahead and a non-refundable reservation fee per site. Cancellations up to two days before arrival are refunded minus the reservation fee; cancelling one day out forfeits the first night, and same-day cancellations forfeit more, so lock in dates only when plans are firm.
Alabama State Parks handles Joe Wheeler bookings through alapark.com or by phone to the park country store. Reservations open up to one year in advance, check-in is 2 PM, check-out is 11 AM, and the standard maximum stay is 14 nights, extended to 31 nights from November 1 through March 31 at select parks.
Private parks such as Powderhorn Campground, Mill Creek RV Park, and Peaceful Acres at Plato's Branch are booked directly with the operator by phone or website.
What to expect at Minor Hill campgrounds
Expect rural roads, farmland, and light traffic. Sites at Campground 2 - David Crockett State Park are paved with 20/30/50-amp electric and water hookups; the park has bathhouses with hot showers and a dump station, though sites do not have individual sewer. Big rigs generally do well there and at Joe Wheeler, where most of the 116 sites offer full water, electric, and sewer.
Cell coverage is usable in town and along main highways but can drop in creek valleys and wooded loops. Groceries, fuel, and propane are easiest to source in Lawrenceburg, Pulaski, or across the Alabama line in Athens and Rogersville.
Wildlife includes deer, wild turkey, and songbirds; ticks and chiggers are active from late spring through early fall, so bring repellent and check after hikes.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Minor%20Hill%2C%20TennesseeWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Minor Hill, Tennessee?
Good news for anyone planning to rent an RV in Minor Hill: a regular driver's license is all you need for nearly every rig on RVezy. Tennessee lets you operate a recreational vehicle under 26,000 pounds GVWR with a standard Class D license, and almost every motorhome and travel trailer on the platform falls well under that threshold. You'll also need to be at least 25 years old to meet RVezy's approved driver requirements, and your ID is verified right in the booking flow, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from out of state? Tennessee honors your home license, so you're cleared to roll the moment your host hands over the keys.

Every RV rental in Minor Hill booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head out toward Pulaski or the Natchez Trace with real peace of mind. Roadside help is one call away for flats, dead batteries, lockouts, or a tow. It's a meaningful safety net that lets first-time renters book with confidence, and you can review exactly what's covered before you confirm your dates.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat if I need to cancel my Minor Hill RV trip?
You've got real flexibility. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every booking (not the individual host), and the refund you receive depends on how far out you are from your pickup date. If a host cancels on you, RVezy will help you get a full refund or rebook with travel credit so your trip isn't derailed. Severe weather and other exceptional circumstances are reviewed case-by-case by RVezy support. The full terms are shown at checkout and inside your RVezy account, which means booking your Minor Hill RV trip is genuinely low-risk: go ahead and lock in those spring or summer dates before the calendar fills up.

Yes, plenty of hosts welcome four-legged travelers, and a pet-friendly RV rental in Minor Hill is just a filter click away on RVezy. Once you've found a pet-approved listing, message the host to share your dog's size and any habits, then plan stops at dog-loving spots nearby. David Crockett State Park in Lawrenceburg (about 20 miles west) has shaded trails along Shoal Creek where leashed pups are welcome, and most Giles County campgrounds allow pets at the site. Pack a tie-out, a collapsible water bowl, and proof of vaccinations, then load up the pup. Tennessee summers are humid, so plan walks for early morning or evening.
tnstateparks.com/parks/david-crockettCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Minor Hill?
Yes, RV delivery in Minor Hill is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you'd rather skip driving a big rig yourself. Many local hosts will tow or drive the RV straight to David Crockett State Park, a private campground, or even a family member's driveway in nearby Pulaski or Ardmore, then handle the leveling, hookups, and full walkthrough before they leave. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to spot hosts who offer this, and message them with your destination address so they can quote a fair delivery fee based on miles. It's a game-changer for first-time renters and families with little kids.

nps.gov/natr/planyourvisit/directions.htmHow much should I budget for fuel on a Minor Hill RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, but it's manageable in Tennessee. Expect 8 to 10 miles per gallon for a Class A motorhome, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C, and 15 to 20 MPG when towing a travel trailer with a pickup. Tennessee gas prices typically run below the national average, with stations along I-65 in Pulaski and US-64 in Lawrenceburg offering the easiest big-rig access. For a 300-mile weekend loop in a Class C, plan on roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up before heading onto the Natchez Trace Parkway since commercial services are not allowed along the route.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Minor Hill?
For peak weekends from May through October, book your campground 3 to 6 months in advance, especially at Tennessee State Parks, which use the reservation system at reserve.tnstateparks.com and release sites up to 12 months ahead. David Crockett State Park's Campground #2 fills fast on summer holiday weekends. Private parks like Richland Creek RV Park in Pulaski often have shorter lead times, sometimes just a couple of weeks out. For off-season trips between November and March, you can frequently snag a spot a few days ahead. reserve.tnstateparks.com/david-crockett/campsitesWhat are driving conditions like around Minor Hill?
Driving around Minor Hill is refreshingly low-stress. Giles County roads are mostly flat to gently rolling farmland with light traffic, and State Route 11 runs right through town connecting you to Pulaski (15 miles northeast) and the Alabama state line (about 5 miles south). Watch for the occasional Amish horse-and-buggy near Ethridge just west of here, slow down on rural curves, and be alert for deer at dawn and dusk. Summer thunderstorms can pop up fast in the afternoon, so plan longer drives for morning hours. Bridges along Shoal Creek have standard clearances, but always know your RV's height before approaching low-clearance underpasses on the way to Nashville.

Potable water fills are easy to find at park entrances, and dump stations are standard at every full-service park. Mileage policies vary by listing, with many offering 100 to 150 free miles per day and a per-mile rate beyond that, while some unlimited-mileage rigs are ideal for longer hauls toward Nashville or the Smokies. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Minor%20Hill%2C%20TennesseeHow does payment and the security deposit work for RV rentals in Minor Hill?

You'll pay the rental total at checkout using a credit or debit card, and funds are released to the host after your trip begins. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card before pickup, typically several hundred to a few thousand dollars depending on the RV's value, and it's released after drop-off once the host confirms the rig is returned in the same condition. To keep things smooth, do a quick walkthrough video with your host at both pickup and return so everyone's on the same page from the start.

Tims Ford Lake (about 65 miles east) is great for tubing and fishing, and the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville is a 55-mile day trip that will thrill any space-curious kid.
