Campgrounds and RV parks near Monteagle, TN

Monteagle sits on the southern Cumberland Plateau in Grundy and Marion counties, near the intersection of I-24 and US-41. The town is a common jumping-off point for South Cumberland State Park, a multi-unit park spread across four Tennessee counties (Grundy, Marion, Franklin, and Sequatchie) that protects roughly 30,845 acres of gorges, sandstone bluffs, and waterfalls. Chattanooga is under an hour southeast and Nashville is under two hours northwest, which makes the area a practical weekend target from both metros. RV travelers have a mix of options within a short drive. Foster Falls - South Cumberland State Park offers rustic, tent-and-small-trailer sites inside the state park. Bigfoot RV Park and Campground and Sasquatch Farm RV Park cater to travelers wanting hookups, and Big Mouth Cave Retreat and The Bolo Club and Campground round out the nearby private options. Plateau elevation, near 1,900 feet, keeps summers a few degrees cooler than the surrounding valleys and produces reliable fall color, which shapes when sites tend to book.

All overnight camping at South Cumberland State Park requires advance online reservations, including Foster Falls and every backcountry site. Bookings can be made online or by phone up to one year ahead, and reservation fees are non-refundable, so dates should be confirmed before paying. Check-in at state park campgrounds is 12:00 pm Central and check-out is 10:00 am Central. Rock climbing at Foster Falls, Denny Cove, and Stone Door also requires advance online registration, which is separate from a campsite booking. Private options such as Bigfoot RV Park and Campground, Sasquatch Farm RV Park, Big Mouth Cave Retreat, and The Bolo Club and Campground are booked directly through each property. For summer and October weekends, reserve several weeks out at minimum.
