Overview of campgrounds near Anthony, Texas
Anthony sits on the Texas-New Mexico border along Interstate 10, about twenty miles northwest of downtown El Paso. The town works well as a quiet base for RV travelers who want easy highway access, quick trips into El Paso, and a straight shot to Las Cruces and White Sands to the north.
RV options near Anthony split into two groups. Full-hookup private parks cluster along the I-10 corridor toward El Paso, including El Paso West RV Park, Road Host RV Monthly Extended Stay in El Paso, Gaslight Square Mobile Home and RV Park, and Hacienda RV Resort. These are level, paved or graveled parks geared to travelers and long-stay guests, with power, water, and sewer at the site.
For a public-land experience, Franklin Mountains State Park towers above El Paso as the largest state park in an urban setting, covering 37 square miles of desert wilderness with 125 miles of multi-use trails. It offers 14 walk-in tent sites and five RV sites in the Tom Mays Unit, but campsites do not have water or electricity, so the private parks and the state park serve very different trip styles.
Things to do near Anthony
Franklin Mountains State Park is the main outdoor draw. The park covers 37 square miles of desert wilderness with 125 miles of multi-use trails that are especially popular with mountain bikers. Hikers can reach short routes like the Aztec Cave Trail or push higher toward North Franklin Peak. Rock climbing is available at the designated area in McKelligon Canyon or at Sneed's Cory in the Tom Mays Unit, and climbers bring their own equipment.
Beyond the park, day trips from Anthony include the El Paso Mission Trail and the Rio Grande border drive. White Sands National Park and Las Cruces are both reachable in under an hour and a half up I-10 and US-70, which makes Anthony a practical hub for a multi-park loop.
Families often add the El Paso Zoo, the Chihuahuan Desert Gardens, and minor-league baseball at Southwest University Park in downtown El Paso.

Anthony shares El Paso's Chihuahuan Desert climate: dry, sunny, and marked by very large day-to-night temperature swings. Spring and fall are usually mild seasons with sunny days and cool nights, and thunderstorm activity peaks during July and August. These shoulder seasons are the most comfortable windows for hiking and RV touring.
Summer brings intense heat. Temperatures regularly exceed 90 degrees between June and August, and the North American Monsoon can push brief but heavy downpours into the region from July through September. RV travelers should plan hikes for early morning, carry extra water, and expect flash-flood advisories in canyon drainages.
Winter is the low season for outdoor activity but a popular time for snowbirds staying at full-hookup parks. Days are typically mild and sunny, while nights routinely drop below freezing. El Paso typically has 42 frosty nights a year, and most of these colder nights hover just below 32 degrees and are followed by daytime temperatures above freezing.

How to book campgrounds near Anthony
Private RV parks near Anthony, including El Paso West RV Park, Hacienda RV Resort, Gaslight Square Mobile Home and RV Park, and Road Host RV Monthly Extended Stay in El Paso, take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Monthly and seasonal rates are common, and snowbird demand tightens availability through the winter months.
Reservations at Franklin Mountains State Park are made online through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's reservation system or by calling the park. The park often reaches capacity and highly recommends reservations for both camping and day use, and passes can be reserved online or by calling the customer service center before arrival.
Because the Tom Mays Unit sits behind a gate that locks in the evening, campers should confirm current gate hours when booking so late arrivals and returns from El Paso can be planned around the schedule.
What to expect on the ground
The private parks along the I-10 corridor near Anthony and El Paso are typical Sun Belt RV resorts: level sites, full hookups, laundry, and easy big-rig access. Expect highway noise at parks closest to the interstate and rail line, and hot pavement in summer. Long-term and monthly guests are a significant share of the mix.
Franklin Mountains State Park is a different experience. Camping is in the Tom Mays Unit, with 14 walk-in tent sites and five RV sites, and campsites do not have water or electricity, so RVers must bring enough water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. There are no dump stations at the park either, though plenty are available in and around El Paso, and generator use is allowed.
Gate hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended weekend hours of 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. from the first Saturday in April to the first Saturday in September, so campers should plan arrival and any late returns from El Paso around the gate schedule.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Anthony, TX
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Anthony, TX?
RV rental in Anthony, TX is one of the more affordable launchpads in the Southwest thanks to its location on the El Paso outskirts. On RVezy, expect roughly $90 to $150 per night for travel trailers and campervans, $150 to $225 for Class C motorhomes, and $250 plus for larger Class A coaches. Shoulder seasons like March and October usually trim 15 to 20 percent off summer rates. To find a cheap RV rental in Anthony, sort by price and use Instant Book to lock in lower-priced listings before they're gone. Pro tip: weekday pickups (Sunday through Thursday) are often noticeably cheaper than Friday departures, and many Anthony hosts offer weekly discounts for trips longer than seven nights.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Anthony%2C%20TexasWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Anthony, TX?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Anthony, TX. No commercial driver's license (CDL) or special RV endorsement is required in Texas for the motorhomes and trailers listed on RVezy. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified right through the platform during booking, so there's nothing to print or bring to the pickup. Visiting from another country? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association. Most first-time renters are surprised at how straightforward Texas requirements really are, and your host will walk you through the rig at pickup.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs insurance and roadside assistance included with my Anthony RV rental?
Yes, every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can pull out of Anthony onto Interstate 10 feeling fully covered. The protection plan covers most damages to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level during checkout, not the host. Roadside assistance is bundled in at no extra cost, which is reassuring when you're crossing the Chihuahuan Desert toward Las Cruces or White Sands. Pro tip: review the protection tiers before booking so you can pick the one that matches how adventurous your Anthony RV trip will be.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat is the cancellation policy if my plans change?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and it includes a money-back grace period right after you book, so you have breathing room if plans shift. Refund amounts after that depend on how close you are to your trip start date. Because the policy is managed by RVezy directly, you won't see different rules on different listings in Anthony, TX. Pro tip: book earlier rather than later for popular spring break and Sun Bowl weekends in El Paso, because the same policy protects your spot while you finalize campground reservations.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Anthony, TX?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Anthony, TX is easy to find: just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see listings whose owners welcome four-legged guests. Many Anthony hosts even allow multiple dogs for a small cleaning fee. Once you're on the road, your pup will love the fenced dog parks at Great Escapes RV Park El Paso (formerly Road Host RV) right in Anthony, and the trails at Franklin Mountains State Park just 20 minutes south allow leashed dogs. White Sands National Park, about 90 minutes northeast, is also leashed-pet friendly across all dunes. Pro tip: bring extra water and paw protection because desert pavement and gypsum sand get hot fast in summer.
nps.gov/whsa/planyourvisit/pets.htmCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Anthony?
Yes, RV delivery in Anthony is offered by many RVezy hosts, and it's a game-changer if you're new to towing or just want a stress-free start. Your host can drop the rig at a local campground like El Paso West RV Park or Great Escapes RV Park El Paso, level it, hook up water, sewer, and 30/50-amp power, then walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery is especially popular for families flying into El Paso International Airport, just 20 miles south of Anthony. To find it, use the Delivery filter when you search. Pro tip: ask about delivery to nearby White Sands or City of Rocks State Park for an unforgettable arrival.
elpasotexas.gov/How far can I drive on a typical Anthony RV trip?
Plenty far, and Anthony's location at the meeting point of Texas, New Mexico, and just minutes from the border makes it a launching pad for big road trips. Most Anthony hosts on RVezy offer between 100 and 150 free miles per night, with some offering RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer journeys. From Anthony you can reach White Sands National Park (about 85 miles), Las Cruces, NM (30 miles), Guadalupe Mountains National Park (115 miles), Carlsbad Caverns (150 miles), and Big Bend National Park (about 320 miles). Pro tip: if you're planning a longer RV road trip from Anthony, message the host first and ask about a custom mileage package, which is often cheaper than paying per overage mile.
nps.gov/cave/index.htmWhere can I stay overnight in my RV near Anthony, TX?
You've got excellent options for RV camping in Anthony and the surrounding El Paso area. Right in town, Great Escapes RV Park El Paso (formerly Road Host RV) off I-10 Exit 2 offers full hookups, two fenced dog parks, and mountain views. El Paso West RV Park is a long-running family spot with a pool and easy Wet 'n' Wild access. About 20 miles south, Mission RV Park serves East El Paso with full hookups, and Hacienda RV Resort in Las Cruces (30 miles north) is consistently top-rated for big rigs. For free dispersed camping, check Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land around the Organ Mountains. Pro tip: avoid Walmart overnight parking in El Paso city limits, where it's restricted.
blm.gov/visit/organ-mountains-desert-peaks-national-monumentWhen is the best time to take an RV trip from Anthony, TX?
The sweet spot for an Anthony RV trip is mid-October through April, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 60s to mid-70s and nights cool to the 40s, perfect for campfires under brilliant desert skies. Spring (March to May) brings ocotillo blooms across the Chihuahuan Desert, while fall delivers warm days and crisp evenings. Summer (June through August) routinely tops 95 to 100°F with afternoon monsoon thunderstorms in July and August, so plan early-morning drives and AC-friendly campsites. Winter is mild with rare freezes, so RV camping near Anthony is genuinely a year-round affair. Pro tip: visit during the Sun Carnival or Amigo Airsho in El Paso (late fall) for a uniquely West Texas experience.
weather.gov/epz/I've never driven an RV before. Is renting in Anthony beginner-friendly?
Anthony is actually one of the friendliest places to try your first time renting an RV. The town sits on flat desert terrain with wide, straight roads, and I-10 runs right through it with generous shoulders and easy on/off ramps. Every RVezy host gives a hands-on orientation at pickup, covering propane, slides, leveling, water systems, and dump procedures, so you won't drive off until you're comfortable. You can also message hosts before booking through the listing page to ask anything. If even pickup feels intimidating, choose the Delivery filter and your host will bring the RV to your campground and set it up. Pro tip: do a short shakedown loop on NM Highway 404 first, it's quiet and a great place to practice braking and turns.
txdot.gov/safety.htmlWhat happens if something breaks down on my Anthony RV trip?
You're covered: every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on US-54 or a dead battery near White Sands is just a phone call away. Help can be dispatched anywhere in the U.S., including remote stretches of West Texas and southern New Mexico. Your host is also your second line of support, and most Anthony hosts respond fast through the RVezy in-app messenger. For mechanical questions during your trip, RVezy customer support is reachable around the clock. Pro tip: snap a photo of the rig's VIN, license plate, and any special features at pickup, it speeds up any roadside call and gets you back to your campervan rental Anthony adventure faster.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I cross into New Mexico or Mexico with my Anthony rental?
Crossing into New Mexico is no problem at all, and it's actually one of the best parts of an RV road trip from Anthony, TX. The state line is right at the edge of town, so trips to Las Cruces, White Sands, City of Rocks, and Carlsbad Caverns are completely standard. Travel to other U.S. states is also allowed, though you should confirm long-distance plans with your host since some set mileage caps. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage do not extend across the border. Pro tip: park the RV at a campground in Anthony or El Paso, then walk or rideshare across the Bridge of the Americas for a day trip to Ciudad Juárez.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat's the realistic fuel budget for a motorhome rental Anthony trip?
Fuel in Anthony is genuinely one of the better deals in the country: gas prices on the Texas side of the border are typically 30 to 50 cents per gallon cheaper than the New Mexico side, so always fill up before crossing US-54 north. Expect a campervan rental Anthony to get 18 to 22 MPG, a Class C motorhome 8 to 12 MPG, and a Class A 6 to 9 MPG. For a 500-mile loop to White Sands and back through Las Cruces in a Class C, budget around $150 to $200 in fuel. Travel trailers add about 30 percent to your tow vehicle's normal consumption. Pro tip: the Pilot and Love's truck stops on I-10 at Anthony Exit 0 have RV-friendly pumps with high flow rates.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Anthony?
You've got flexibility, but plan ahead for the popular spots. Private RV parks in Anthony like Great Escapes RV Park El Paso and El Paso West RV Park usually have nightly availability with 1 to 2 weeks' notice, even in busy season. For state parks like Franklin Mountains and Oliver Lee Memorial (near Alamogordo), reserve through Texas State Parks (texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com) or New Mexico State Parks 3 to 4 months ahead, especially for weekends from October to April. National park campgrounds at Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains go through Recreation.gov and book up 6 months out. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday to Wednesday) are almost always available last-minute, even at the best campgrounds near Anthony.
recreation.gov/What are the driving conditions like around Anthony, TX?
Driving around Anthony is refreshingly easy compared to most metro launch points. Roads are flat, straight, and lightly trafficked outside El Paso rush hour (7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. on I-10). The biggest things to watch for are sudden monsoon downpours in July and August (flash-flood arroyos can fill in minutes), strong spring winds that push high-profile RVs around on US-54 and I-10, and dust storms (called haboobs) that occasionally roll across the Mesilla Valley. Avoid driving tall Class A rigs through downtown El Paso's older underpasses (some under 12 feet). Pro tip: check the Texas Department of Transportation's DriveTexas.org map for real-time wind warnings and closures before pulling out of your Anthony RV rental.
drivetexas.org/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Anthony?
Campgrounds around Anthony are well-equipped for a comfortable family RV trip Anthony families love. Most local RV parks, including Great Escapes RV Park El Paso and El Paso West RV Park, offer 30/50-amp electric, full water and sewer hookups, laundry, restrooms with showers, and pet areas. Wi-Fi quality varies, so plan to use your phone's hotspot as a backup. Dump stations are available at Great Escapes RV Park El Paso and most private parks; potable water fill-ups are standard at every full-hookup site. State parks like Franklin Mountains offer water and electric but limited sewer, so you'll dump on departure. Pro tip: the Flying J at Anthony's I-10 Exit 0 has a public dump station and freshwater fill for a small fee, perfect mid-trip.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/franklin-mountainsWhat features do RV rentals in Anthony typically include?
You'll be impressed with how well-equipped Anthony rentals are. Most motorhome rental Anthony listings come with a queen or king bed, fully stocked kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, cookware), bathroom with shower and toilet, roof AC (essential here), furnace, dinette, and seatbelted seating for travel. Class C and Class A rigs usually include a generator for boondocking in the desert, and many include outdoor speakers and awnings perfect for sunset views of the Franklin Mountains. TVs are common; Wi-Fi and Starlink are increasingly offered as add-ons. Solar panels are a popular upgrade for off-grid stays near the Organ Mountains. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count to match your group size exactly, and confirm seatbelt count if kids in car seats are coming along.
nhtsa.gov/equipment/car-seats-and-booster-seatsWhat add-ons and pickup options are available when I rent an RV in Anthony?
Anthony hosts on RVezy offer some of the most useful add-ons in the Southwest. Popular extras include linen and towel packages ($30 to $75), kitchen kits, camping chairs and tables, generator use for desert boondocking, bike racks, portable solar panels, and pet packages. Delivery and setup to local campgrounds or El Paso International Airport is widely available, typically $2 to $4 per mile from the host's home base. Mileage policies usually run 100 to 150 free miles per night with overage at 30 to 45 cents per mile, and many hosts offer unlimited-mileage packages for longer trips. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a full setup add-on for your first RV rental in Anthony, TX, you'll skip the learning curve entirely and start your trip relaxed.
flyelpaso.com/How do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at booking using a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which keeps your trip fully protected by the platform's policies. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV's value, and it's released back to you after a clean return. To avoid issues, take date-stamped photos and a short video of the interior, exterior, tires, and tanks at both pickup and drop-off. Pro tip: do the walk-through with your host unhurried at your Anthony pickup, confirm fuel and tank levels in writing through the RVezy app chat, and you'll sail through the return.
