RV camping near Berryville, Texas
Berryville is a small East Texas community on the western shore of Lake Palestine, about 20 miles south of Tyler and roughly 100 miles from the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. The area sits on the western edge of the Piney Woods, and lake-focused RV parks make up most of the overnight camping options within a short drive of town.
Lake Palestine is the region's main draw for RV travelers. The reservoir covers roughly 25,560 acres with about 135 miles of shoreline, and its coves, marinas, and boat ramps support fishing, boating, and waterskiing throughout the year. Access is a mix of five public boat launches plus private marinas and campgrounds.
Closest to Berryville, Big Steves Resort RV Park and Marina and Lake Palestine Resort sit directly on the water near Frankston. Frankston RV Resort and Jake's RV Park Frankston add inland options a short drive from the lake, and Trails End RV Camp rounds out the nearby choices for renters looking for full-hookup sites in a quieter setting.
Things to do around Berryville
Fishing drives most trips. Lake Palestine holds largemouth bass, white bass, hybrid striped bass, crappie, bream, and channel, blue, and flathead catfish, and the lake hosts multiple bass tournaments through the year. Campgrounds such as Big Steves Resort RV Park and Marina offer on-site boat launches and bank fishing, which simplifies logistics for RV renters traveling without a trailer.
Beyond the water, families can day-trip to Tyler State Park, about an hour north, for a spring-fed lake, hiking trails, and a mountain-bike loop through loblolly and shortleaf pine. The small towns ringing the lake, including Frankston, Chandler, and Coffee City, add antique shops, cafes, and lakeside restaurants for easy off-boat afternoons.

The Berryville area is a year-round RV destination, but each season has trade-offs. Spring, from March through May, brings the heaviest rainfall of the year in East Texas, with May typically the wettest month. Storms can be intense, and sites near the shoreline occasionally see minor flooding, so RV renters should watch forecasts and pick higher pads when possible.
Summer is hot and humid, with July and August highs frequently in the mid-90s Fahrenheit. This is peak season for boating, swimming, and tournament fishing, and lakefront sites at parks like Lake Palestine Resort and Big Steves Resort RV Park and Marina book earliest. Weekends around Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day fill fastest.
Fall is generally the most comfortable stretch, with lower humidity, mild days, and steady catfish and bass action. Winter is short and cool rather than harsh, with January highs typically in the mid-50s Fahrenheit. Many RV parks remain open, and local guides consider winter a strong window for crappie fishing on Lake Palestine.

How to book a campsite near Berryville
Most campgrounds within a short drive of Berryville are privately owned RV parks that take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Lakefront sites at Big Steves Resort RV Park and Marina, Lake Palestine Resort, Frankston RV Resort, Jake's RV Park Frankston, and Trails End RV Camp are limited in number, so booking several weeks ahead is wise for summer weekends and holidays.
For state-park camping at nearby Tyler State Park, reservations run through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department system and open up to five months in advance. Popular sites often go quickly at the five-month mark. A two-night minimum applies to Friday and Saturday stays, and holiday weekends require a three-night minimum.
What to expect on-site
Private RV parks around Lake Palestine typically offer full hookups with water, sewer, and 30/50-amp electric, along with restrooms, showers, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Many sites are shaded by mature hardwoods and pines, and several parks near Frankston have direct lake access, private boat ramps, and bank fishing. Site sizes vary, so RV renters with larger Class A or fifth-wheel rigs should confirm pull-through availability at booking.
Cell coverage is generally usable but not uniform across the shoreline. Grocery runs are easiest in Frankston or Tyler, and pets are welcome at most parks in the area. Expect a quieter, small-town atmosphere rather than a resort-style scene, especially outside peak summer weekends.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Berryville, TX
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Berryville, TX?
RV rental in Berryville is one of the most affordable ways to explore Lake Palestine and the East Texas Piney Woods. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range from about $150 to $260, and larger Class A coaches generally run $200 to $375. Because Berryville is a small lakeside community, you can often find better value here than in nearby Tyler or Dallas. For a cheap RV rental in Berryville, look at midweek trips in late February or early November when demand around Blackburn Bay cools off. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book and message hosts about multi-night discounts, many owners drop their nightly rate for stays of 4 or more nights on Lake Palestine.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Berryville%2C%20TexasDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Berryville, Texas?
Good news: a regular Class C driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Berryville. Texas does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for any motorhome or trailer commonly rented on RVezy, including Class A, Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels at typical recreational weights. To qualify as an approved driver on RVezy, you must be at least 25 years old with a full, unrestricted driver's license valid for the entire rental period. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home country license from an eligible country. That's it: no test, no endorsement, no extra paperwork before you hit Highway 155 toward Lake Palestine.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included when I rent an RV in Berryville?
Every RV rental in Berryville booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can pull away from the driveway feeling covered. During checkout, you choose the protection level that fits your trip, with higher tiers reducing your out-of-pocket deductible for most covered damages. This isn't traditional personal auto insurance, but it provides real financial peace of mind in case of an accident, a blown tire on US-175, or storm damage at a Lake Palestine campsite. The protection plan is set by RVezy, not the individual host, so terms stay consistent. Pro tip: if it's your first time renting an RV, choose a higher protection tier and enjoy your Berryville RV trip stress-free.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Berryville RV trip plans change?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every rental, not the individual host, so you get consistent, predictable terms whether you are renting a travel trailer for Lake Palestine or a Class C for a Big Thicket detour. There is a money-back grace period right after booking, and additional refund tiers depending on how far out from your trip you cancel. The full policy is managed at the platform level, which is why you will not see it on the listing itself. If your host cancels, RVezy refunds you or provides credits so your plans stay protected. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best Berryville RV with confidence, you can review the full cancellation terms in RVezy's Help Center before you commit.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Berryville?
Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental in Berryville is easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see motorhomes and travel trailers from hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). Lake Palestine is a great dog destination: most shoreline RV parks allow leashed pets, and the lake's many public access points are popular for a morning walk before fishing. Tyler State Park, about 35 miles north, allows leashed pets on all trails. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees (often around $10 to $25 per night) and bring a portable water bowl, East Texas summers get hot fast.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/tylerCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Berryville?
Yes, RV delivery in Berryville is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who'd rather skip driving a 30-foot motorhome down FM 344. Many local hosts will deliver your travel trailer, fifth wheel, or motorhome directly to The Villages Resort, Lake Palestine Resort, or a private lakeside lot, level the jacks, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. Delivery fees typically run a few dollars per mile from the host's location, and some hosts offer free delivery within a short radius. Pro tip: bundle delivery with a stocked-kitchen add-on so you arrive to a fully set-up campervan rental in Berryville and can start grilling lakeside right away.
rvezy.com/how-it-worksHow does mileage work, and how far can I drive from Berryville?
Mileage on your RV rental in Berryville is set by the host, with many listings including around 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offering RV rental with unlimited mileage, perfect for longer Texas road trips. Extra miles typically cost roughly $0.30 to $0.50 each. Berryville's central East Texas location makes it a great launch pad: Tyler is about 25 miles north, Palestine is around 30 miles southwest, Dallas is about 110 miles northwest, Shreveport is roughly 140 miles east, and Houston sits about 175 miles south. Pro tip: if you're planning a multi-stop RV road trip from Berryville to Caddo Lake or Big Thicket, filter for unlimited-mileage listings up front to avoid surprises.

For a quieter vibe, look at small private campgrounds along FM 315 near Blackburn Bay. Pro tip: lakefront sites at The Villages and Lake Palestine Resort book months ahead for summer weekends, lock yours in as soon as your RVezy booking is confirmed.
lakepalestinetexas.com/lake-palestine-lodging-cabins-motels.htmWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Berryville?

Spring brings dogwoods blooming around Lake Palestine and daytime highs in the 70s and low 80s, while fall delivers cooler nights in the 50s and excellent crappie and bass fishing. Summer (June through August) is warm and humid with highs often in the mid-90s, great for swimming and waterskiing if you have strong AC and a shaded site. Winters are mild with highs typically in the 55 to 65 degree range, comfortable for hybrid striper fishing near Blackburn Crossing Dam. Pro tip: book April weekends early, the Texas Rose Festival and other Tyler-area events can tighten availability.
weather.gov/fwd/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be able to handle it?
You've got this. First time renting an RV in Berryville is genuinely one of the easiest places to start. Roads around Lake Palestine (TX-155, FM 344, FM 315) are mostly wide, flat, and lightly trafficked compared to Dallas or Houston, so they are great for getting comfortable behind the wheel. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering propane, slide-outs, dump valves, the generator, and the water system, and you can message them anytime during your trip. If you're really nervous, choose delivery and setup so you don't have to drive it at all. Pro tip: start with a Class C motorhome or a 22 to 26 foot travel trailer, big enough for the family and small enough to back into most campsites.
rvezy.com/how-it-worksWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You're never on your own. Every RV rental in Berryville booked on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing when needed. If a system in the RV acts up, your host is your first call (most respond within minutes), and RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip through the app. Major RV service centers and dealers are in Tyler, just 25 miles north, so help is close. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone the moment you book, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Berryville RV rental on a longer road trip across Texas or out of state?
Yes, your RV road trip from Berryville can absolutely stretch beyond East Texas. Most RVezy hosts allow travel anywhere in the continental US, including crossings into Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, just confirm in the host's listing or with a quick message. Popular routes include Berryville to Hot Springs, AR (about 280 miles), Berryville to New Orleans (about 470 miles), and Berryville to Big Bend National Park (about 650 miles). Travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals due to insurance coverage limits. Pro tip: long trips burn through mileage fast, filter for hosts offering high or unlimited mileage and ask about extended-trip discounts before you book.
rvezy.com/terms-serviceWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?
Plan smart and you'll keep your fuel budget reasonable. Class C motorhomes around Berryville typically get 8 to 10 miles per gallon on regular unleaded, Class A coaches average 6 to 9 mpg, and a truck towing a travel trailer averages 10 to 13 mpg. Gas stations are easy to find along US-175 and TX-155, and East Texas pump prices usually run below the national average. For a 4-night Lake Palestine trip with about 300 miles of driving, expect roughly $120 to $200 in fuel for a Class C, depending on current prices. Pro tip: top off in Athens or Tyler before heading toward more rural FM roads where stations thin out.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I reserve a campground near Berryville?
For the best Berryville RV trip, reserve your campsite as soon as your RVezy booking is confirmed. Texas state parks like Tyler State Park (about 35 miles north) and Mission Tejas (about 60 miles south) open reservations 5 months in advance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and prime summer weekends can fill quickly. Private resorts on Lake Palestine such as The Villages Resort and Lake Palestine Resort typically book 2 to 4 months ahead for waterfront sites, though midweek availability is often open even on short notice. Pro tip: if you strike out on weekends, try a Sunday through Thursday Lake Palestine stay, you'll often score lakefront pull-throughs at lower rates.

The town sits on TX-155 near Blackburn Crossing Dam, with mostly flat, gently rolling two-lane roads, light traffic, and very few low bridges or tight turns. Watch for occasional deer at dawn and dusk along FM 344 and FM 315, and slow down during East Texas thunderstorms, sudden heavy rain can pool on the shoulders. Summer afternoon storms often roll through Lake Palestine between 3 and 6 pm, so plan to be set up at your campsite by mid-afternoon. Tyler and Athens, the nearest larger towns, have a few busier intersections but nothing intimidating. rvezy.com/how-it-worksHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure. When you book your RV rental in Berryville on RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, never in cash to the host, which protects both sides of the transaction. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape, separate from your booking payment. Fuel, propane, and mileage overages, if any, are settled through the platform too. Pro tip: do a video walkaround at pickup and drop-off with the host present, it is the single best way to avoid security deposit disputes after your Lake Palestine adventure.
