Spring, from March through May, is the busiest and most comfortable window in North Texas. Wildflowers peak, trails at Cleburne State Park draw heavy weekend traffic, and severe-weather season brings a real risk of thunderstorms, hail, and tornadoes, especially in April and May. Book RV sites well in advance for spring weekends and holidays. Summer runs hot and humid. Daytime highs in July and August routinely reach the mid-90s and often exceed 100°F, so shaded sites, 50-amp service for air conditioning, and pool access matter. Waterpark and lake activity peaks, and weekday stays are easier to book than weekends. Fall, from September through November, is a second peak, with cooler evenings and clear days good for hiking and Stockyards visits. Winter is mild overall but can swing between 70°F afternoons and hard freezes during Blue Norther cold fronts, and ice storms occasionally close roads for a day or two. Most private parks stay open year-round, while Cleburne State Park fills quickly for spring and fall weekends.

Most parks near Briaroaks sit within a few minutes of I-35W frontage roads, which makes access easy but adds some freeway noise at sites closest to the highway. Terrain is gently rolling with mature oak and cedar cover, and Jellystone Park At The Rustic Creek Ranch has a mix of shaded older sites and newer pull-throughs designed to accommodate larger rigs. Expect full hookups, gravel or paved pads, and Wi-Fi at private parks, plus laundry, showers, and propane at the larger resorts. Cleburne State Park offers water and electric sites, some full hookups, screened shelters, and clean restrooms, though cell service is unreliable inside the park. Summer visitors should plan for intense heat and mosquitoes near water. Winter travelers should insulate hoses and be ready for occasional hard freezes. Ground fires are often restricted during dry stretches.
