Campgrounds and RV parks near Canyon Creek, TX

Canyon Creek sits on the west shore of Lake Granbury in Hood County, roughly an hour southwest of Fort Worth. The area functions as a lake-recreation base, with RV parks concentrated along the Brazos River corridor and around the Granbury city limits. Visitors typically use it as a jumping-off point for lake fishing, the Historic Granbury Square, and day trips to Dinosaur Valley State Park in nearby Glen Rose. Full-hookup private parks handle most RV traffic. Granbury RV Resort, Bennett's RV Ranch, 377 RV Park, and Fall Creek RV Park all sit within a short drive of the Canyon Creek area and cater to travel trailers, fifth wheels, and Class A rigs. For a primitive, lakefront option, De Cordova Bend - BRA is operated by the Brazos River Authority on the southeast end of the reservoir near the dam. Lake Granbury is a man-made reservoir built by the Brazos River Authority in 1968, and the reservoir spans more than 8,200 acres within Hood and Parker counties.

Private parks around Granbury, including Granbury RV Resort, Bennett's RV Ranch, 377 RV Park, and Fall Creek RV Park, take direct reservations through their own websites or by phone. For summer weekends and holidays, book four to six weeks ahead, and longer for lakefront sites and pull-thrus that fit larger rigs. Texas State Parks use an official reservation system, with standard campsites bookable up to five months in advance and group sites up to a year out. That window matters for Dinosaur Valley and Cleburne State Park, both of which reach capacity on peak weekends. De Cordova Bend - BRA does not take reservations. Overnight camping is available free of charge on a first-come, first served basis for up to 10 days, and the 10-day cap applies cumulatively across all Brazos River Authority parks.
