Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons for RV camping in the Deerwood area. Highs sit in the seventies and eighties, humidity is manageable, and wildflowers bloom under the pines. Spring also brings frequent thunderstorms, so expect afternoon delays and check for flood advisories along the San Jacinto River drainage. Summer is hot and humid. Daytime highs commonly reach the mid-nineties, with August the warmest month, and overnight lows stay in the mid-seventies. Afternoon thunderstorms are frequent, and shaded, full-hookup sites with reliable electric service for air conditioning are strongly preferred. Fall brings cooler nights and elevated rainfall across the region. It is also deer hunting season in the Sam Houston National Forest, when camping is restricted to designated campsites and developed recreation areas from October through mid-January. Winters are short and mild, with January highs near 60°F and lows in the mid-forties, and most private RV parks stay open year-round.

Private RV parks in the Deerwood and Conroe corridor typically offer full hookups with water, sewer, and 30/50-amp electric, plus pull-through sites that accommodate larger rentals. Amenities vary, but shaded sites under pines are common, and many parks include laundry, Wi-Fi, and dump stations. Sites near Cut N Shoot RV Park and QRV Conroe RV Resort are close to grocery, fuel, and dining along Highway 105 and Interstate 45. Cagle Recreation Area in the national forest has 47 full-service RV sites with restrooms that include flush toilets and hot showers, laid out in two loops along Lake Conroe. Stubblefield Lake is more primitive, with tent and RV sites, no hookups, and basic bathroom facilities. Bring insect repellent, a shade tarp, and drinking water. Burn bans and open-fire restrictions are common in dry stretches, and alligators live in some area lakes, so keep pets leashed and away from the shoreline.
