Campgrounds and RV parks near Frost, TX

Navarro Mills Lake, roughly 20 miles southwest of Corsicana and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is the main outdoor draw. The reservoir holds the Texas state record for white crappie at 4 pounds 9 ounces, and anglers also target channel catfish and largemouth bass. Two multi-lane boat ramps, a fishing pier, swim beach, playground, group shelter and dump stations round out the recreation facilities at Liberty Hill Park. In Corsicana, families can visit the Pearce Museum at Navarro College, the Collin Street Bakery, and the Russell Stover outlet. Ennis, about 20 miles north, hosts the National Polka Festival each spring and drag racing events at Texas Motorplex. Corsicana was on the path of totality during the April 2024 solar eclipse, which is reflected in the naming of Corsicana Texas Eclipse Park.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in this part of Texas. March through May brings warm days and blooming wildflowers, but it is also the region's peak severe weather season, with thunderstorms, hail, and occasional tornadoes moving across north central Texas. Travelers should monitor NOAA forecasts and know where storm shelters are located. Summer runs hot. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F with high humidity, while winters are generally mild. Afternoon heat indices in July and August often push into the triple digits, so shaded sites and 50-amp service for air conditioning matter. Fall, from late September through November, cools off and typically brings the year's best fishing at Navarro Mills. Winter camping is viable because most campgrounds at Navarro Mills Lake are open year-round, though Wolf Creek operates seasonally from early April through late September. Freezes do occur, so RVers should be prepared to disconnect and drain hoses on cold nights.

Terrain around Frost is flat to gently rolling farmland and pastureland. Most private parks offer full hookups with 30- and 50-amp service, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Corps of Engineers sites at Navarro Mills typically provide water and electric, with Liberty Hill Park offering 99 campsites with water and electricity, five sites with screen shelters, fourteen with sewer hookups, and three primitive campsites with no hookups. Cell coverage is generally solid on major carriers along the I-45 corridor and can drop off at the lakeshore parks. Bring bug spray in warmer months and expect fire ants in grassy sites. Fireworks are not authorized, and small pools are allowed but must be placed on the camping pad or the cement driveway, not on the grass. Groceries, propane, and RV parts are easiest to source in Corsicana or Ennis.
