Camping near Log Cabin, Texas
Log Cabin sits on the western shore of Cedar Creek Lake in Henderson County, East Texas. The city is roughly 65 miles southeast of Dallas, which makes it an easy weekend target for RV renters coming out of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Cedar Creek is a large reservoir, and the surrounding shoreline is dotted with private RV parks, lakefront resorts, and one nearby Texas state park.
Campground options within a short drive include Shiloh on the Lake, Texan RV Park, Pine Gardens RV Park at Cedar Creek Lake, and Chuck's RV Resort, along with the Main campground at Purtis Creek State Park about 20 minutes west near Eustace. Purtis Creek sits on a 355-acre lake and is popular with anglers and paddlers looking for calm water.
Expect a mix of full-hookup RV sites, cabins, and primitive tent options across the area, with easy access to boat ramps, swim areas, and fishing piers.
Things to do around Log Cabin
The lake is the main draw. The nearly 33,000-acre Cedar Creek Reservoir supports bass, catfish, and crappie fishing from shore, pier, and boat, and most nearby RV parks include or sit near a boat ramp. Log Cabin's city park offers swimming, fishing, and camping on the lake, and antique shops and small-town attractions sit within a short drive.
For a state park day trip, Purtis Creek State Park has a 355-acre lake with a no-wake policy that keeps the water calm for paddling and family fishing. Fishing for largemouth bass over 16 inches is catch and release only, while catfish, crappie, bluegill and sand bass can be retained. Five walking and biking trails are suitable for the whole family, and swimming is always a good time.
Shopping at First Monday Trade Days in nearby Canton is another common side trip for families based on Cedar Creek Lake.

Summer is peak season on Cedar Creek Lake. Weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day bring boat traffic, swim crowds, and full campgrounds, and holiday weekends fill earliest. July average high temperature is 96 degrees Fahrenheit at nearby Purtis Creek, so shaded sites and full hookups with reliable power for air conditioning are worth prioritizing.
Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in East Texas. The wettest months are April and May, which also brings the region's thunderstorm season and occasional severe weather. September through November cools quickly after Labor Day and offers lighter crowds at both private parks and Purtis Creek.
Winter camping is viable. Cedar Creek Lake area parks generally stay open year round, and Purtis Creek State Park is open year round. Weekly rates are available in the low season, December through February, which suits snowbirds and longer stays.

How to book campgrounds near Log Cabin
Private parks on Cedar Creek Lake, including Shiloh on the Lake, Texan RV Park, Pine Gardens RV Park at Cedar Creek Lake, and Chuck's RV Resort, are booked directly through each park's website or by phone. Summer and holiday weekends can sell out weeks ahead, so lock in dates early for a Fourth of July or Labor Day trip.
Purtis Creek State Park reservations run through the Texas State Parks system operated by Texas Parks and Wildlife. Campsite reservations open five months in advance, and campsites book up fast for summer and holiday weekends. Park entrance fees are required in addition to camping fees, and general entrance reservations can be made up to one month in advance.
What to expect on arrival
Most private RV parks around Log Cabin are small and family-run, with gravel or grass pads, 30 and 50-amp service, and simple check-in at an on-site office. Shade from mature oak and pine is common along the western shore. Pull-through availability varies, so confirm rig length when booking a larger motorhome or travel trailer.
At Purtis Creek State Park, campers select from RV sites with water and electricity, walk-in tent sites, or primitive hike-in sites. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Log%20Cabin%2C%20TexasDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Texas?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Log Cabin and across Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for personal-use recreational vehicles, even larger Class A motorhomes. You'll just need to be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and we'll confirm your ID through the platform during checkout. Visiting from another country? An International Driving Permit (IDP) paired with your home license keeps things smooth. Most first-time renters at Cedar Creek Lake are surprised by how simple the process is, so you can focus on the fun part: picking the perfect rig.
dps.texas.gov/section/driver-license/types-texas-driver-licensesWhat protection is included when I rent an RV in Log Cabin, TX?
Every RVezy booking in Log Cabin includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head to Cedar Creek Lake with peace of mind. You choose your protection level at checkout (not the host), which lets you decide how much coverage you want for damage during the trip. Whether you are towing a travel trailer to Log Cabin RV Park or driving a Class C around the lake, you are backed by real support. Pro tip: take a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff to document the RV's condition. It is the easiest way to keep your trip stress-free and your deposit protected.

You are not locked in. RVezy applies a standard cancellation policy to every booking, including a grace period right after booking when you can cancel for a full refund, which makes locking in a Cedar Creek Lake getaway low-risk. Refund amounts after the grace period depend on how close you are to your trip start date. If a host cancels on you, RVezy helps you secure a refund or rebooking credit so your plans stay on track. Pro tip: review the full cancellation policy on RVezy's Help Center before you confirm, and book early to grab the best lakefront-adjacent rigs in Log Cabin.

Yes, and it is often the easiest way to start your trip. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery in Log Cabin and around Cedar Creek Lake. A delivery host will tow the rig to your campground, level it, hook up water, sewer, and 30/50 amp power where available, and walk you through every system before they leave. This is a game-changer for first-time RV renters or anyone who would rather skip towing through Dallas traffic. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to find these hosts. Pro tip: delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host, so booking with a host close to Henderson County keeps costs down.

tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/tyler/fees-facilities/campsitesWhen is the best time for an RV trip to Log Cabin, TX?
Three seasons really shine here. Spring (March to May) typically brings mild 70 to 85 F days, wildflowers, and prime bass fishing on Cedar Creek Lake. Fall (late September to November) is a local favorite with cooler 65 to 80 F days, lower humidity, and quieter campgrounds. Summer is hot and humid with highs often in the 90s, but the lake makes it worth it if you love swimming and boating. Winters are mild, with daytime highs commonly in the 50s to 60s F, and most Cedar Creek RV parks stay open year-round. Pro tip: October weekends near Log Cabin RV Park combine cool nights with easier reservations, an ideal window for a first Cedar Creek Lake RV trip.
weather.gov/fwd/I've never rented an RV before. Is Log Cabin a good place to start?
It is one of the easier spots in Texas for a first-time RV trip. Log Cabin is small and quiet, and the roads around Cedar Creek Lake are flat and easy to navigate, with no mountain passes or tight switchbacks. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water systems, and dump procedures so nothing feels mysterious. You can also message your host any time during the trip through the RVezy app. Pro tip: book a travel trailer or Class C with delivery to a Cedar Creek Lake campground for your first outing. The host sets everything up, and you can enjoy the lake without ever towing a thing.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002007074-For-rentersWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. If you are parked near Cedar Creek Lake and something stops working, one call gets help moving. Your host is also reachable through the RVezy app for quick questions about their specific rig, and RVezy support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone before leaving the pickup location and snap a photo of the RV's VIN. You will be glad to have both if you ever need them.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityCan I take my Log Cabin RV rental across state lines or into Mexico?
Cross-state trips are typically allowed. Most RVezy hosts in Log Cabin permit travel throughout the continental US, so you can plan a road trip to Louisiana, Arkansas, or New Mexico. Always confirm your route with the host on the listing page before booking so they can approve it. Travel into Mexico is not covered by RVezy's protection plan or roadside assistance, so cross-border trips are not supported. Pro tip: popular long-haul routes from Log Cabin include the run to Hot Springs, Arkansas, the drive to Austin's Hill Country, and a loop through Big Thicket National Preserve. Share your itinerary with the host for the smoothest approval.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for an RV around Log Cabin?
Plan ahead and fuel will not surprise you. Class B campervans generally get about 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average around 8 to 14 MPG, Class A rigs run roughly 6 to 10 MPG, and a truck towing a travel trailer typically gets 10 to 14 MPG. Gas in Henderson County tends to run close to or slightly below the Texas state average, with stations in Mabank, Gun Barrel City, and Athens being your closest fill-ups. For a weekend Cedar Creek Lake RV trip in a Class C, plan on roughly $80 to $150 in fuel. Pro tip: top off in Mabank before heading back toward Dallas, since prices often tick up closer to the metroplex.
gasprices.aaa.com/?state=TXHow far ahead should I book a campground near Log Cabin, TX?
Book sooner than you think, especially for summer. Cedar Creek Lake campgrounds fill fast: Log Cabin RV Park, Pine Gardens, and Blue Sky at Cedar Creek often sell out 4 to 8 weeks ahead for Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends. For Texas State Parks like Tyler State Park, reservations open up to 5 months in advance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system and weekends go quickly. Spring and fall weekends are easier and often bookable 1 to 2 weeks out. Pro tip: midweek stays (Sunday through Thursday) are almost always wide open, cheaper, and quieter, making them the smartest play for first-timers.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-information/reservationsWhat are driving conditions like around Log Cabin and Cedar Creek Lake?
Driving here is refreshingly mellow. The roads around Log Cabin, including TX-198 and FM 3054, are flat, two-lane country highways with light traffic and easy sight lines, ideal for a first motorhome rental in Log Cabin. The main stretch to plan around is US-175 toward Dallas, which can slow down during weekday rush hours near Kaufman. Watch for occasional deer at dawn and dusk, and keep an eye on the radar from April through June when East Texas thunderstorms can roll through fast. Pro tip: leave Log Cabin by early afternoon on Sunday if you are returning a rental to a Dallas-area host to avoid the worst lake-traffic backup through Gun Barrel City.
drivetexas.org/What hookups and amenities can I expect at Cedar Creek Lake campgrounds?
You will find well-equipped sites. Most Cedar Creek Lake RV parks, including Pine Gardens and Blue Sky at Cedar Creek, offer full hookups with water, sewer, and 30/50 amp electric. Log Cabin RV Park provides electric and water at sites with a central dump station, plus restrooms, picnic tables, and lake-access boat ramps. Potable water fill-ups and dump stations are easy to find throughout Henderson County. Wi-Fi quality varies by campground, so do not count on streaming from every site. Pro tip: ask the campground whether your site is pull-through or back-in when you book, and confirm amp service matches your RV's plug. A simple 30-to-50 amp adapter (under $20) saves headaches.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-information/reservationsWhat's inside a typical RV rental in Log Cabin, TX?
You will be pleasantly surprised by how dialed-in modern rigs are. Many include a generator, outdoor speakers, and an outside shower for rinsing off after a Cedar Creek Lake swim. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes include seatbelted seating for passengers. Pro tip: each listing on RVezy shows exactly what is included, so filter by sleeps count and amenities to match your group's needs before booking.

Mileage allowances commonly fall around 100 to 150 miles per day, with unlimited-mileage options on some listings, great for a longer RV road trip from Log Cabin. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linens kit at booking. You will walk into a ready-to-camp rig and skip every logistics headache.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Log%20Cabin%2C%20TexasHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Everything is handled securely through RVezy, no cash exchanges with the host. You pay your rental total by credit card when you book, and a refundable security deposit (commonly around $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card shortly before pickup. The hold is released after the trip once the host confirms the rig came back in good condition. Pro tip: do a thorough walk-around video at both pickup and dropoff at your Log Cabin host's location, note the mileage and generator hours, and keep fuel receipts. That documentation is the easiest way to make sure your deposit comes back fast and in full.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I dump tanks and fill fresh water near Log Cabin, TX?
You have convenient options without driving far. Log Cabin RV Park typically offers a central dump station and potable water fill for guests. Pine Gardens RV Park in Tool and Blue Sky at Cedar Creek in Seven Points have full sewer hookups at each site, so you can dump on-site. For travelers passing through, Love's Travel Stop in Terrell (about 25 miles north on US-175) has dump and water service, and Purtis Creek State Park near Eustace offers a public dump station for a small fee. Pro tip: dump before you start the drive home, never after, and rinse your sewer hose only at the designated non-potable spigot. Easy habit, clean rig, happy host.
