Campgrounds and RV parks near Malakoff, TX

Malakoff sits on the western shore of Cedar Creek Lake in Henderson County, about an hour southeast of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. The area works well as an RV base for lake access, fishing, and short drives to state park land, and the western edge of the Piney Woods gives the surroundings a wooded, East Texas feel rather than open prairie. RV travelers have a mix of lakeside private parks and one nearby state park to choose from. Shiloh on the Lake and Pine Gardens RV Park at Cedar Creek Lake put campers directly on the reservoir, while Texan RV Park and Los Pines Tiny Home & RV Park offer full-hookup sites a short drive from the water. Main - Purtis Creek State Park, roughly 20 to 30 minutes east near Eustace, adds a public-land option with a quieter, no-wake lake. Most trips here center on the water, but the region also works as a stopover for RVers moving between the Metroplex and East Texas destinations like Tyler and Athens.

Reservation rules depend on whether the campground is public or private. For Main - Purtis Creek State Park, sites are handled through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, online or by phone. Campsite reservations open five months in advance, and park entrance fees are required in addition to camping fees, with general entrance reservations available up to one month ahead. Booking the entry pass separately is important on busy weekends, when the gate can hit capacity. Private parks around Cedar Creek Lake, including Shiloh on the Lake, Pine Gardens RV Park at Cedar Creek Lake, Texan RV Park, and Los Pines Tiny Home & RV Park, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For summer and holiday stays, reserve as early as possible and confirm rig length, hookup amps, and slide-out clearance before arrival.
