Campgrounds and RV parks near Point Blank, TX

The lake drives most of the activity. Boating, waterskiing, and fishing for catfish, white bass, and crappie are the main draws, and marinas at Waterfront Lodge Marina and RV Park and nearby resorts provide ramps, slips, and bait. Swim beaches are limited on the open reservoir, so families often drive to the swim beach at Double Lake Recreation Area or the day-use area at Lake Livingston State Park. On land, the Sam Houston National Forest offers hiking on the Lone Star Hiking Trail and a 5-mile route from Double Lake to the Big Creek Scenic Area, plus a mountain bike loop around Double Lake. Nearby cultural stops include the Sam Houston Memorial Museum in Huntsville and the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation east of Livingston.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel. March through May brings mild days, blooming dogwoods in the Piney Woods, and strong fishing before the water warms. October and November cool off after the summer heat, though October is typically the wettest month of the year on this part of the lake. Summer is the peak booking season on Lake Livingston. Weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day fill quickly at private resorts and at Lake Livingston State Park, and reservations should be locked in well ahead. Heat and humidity are intense in July and August, and afternoon thunderstorms are common. Burn bans are frequently issued across San Jacinto and Polk counties during dry summer periods, restricting wood and charcoal fires. Winter is mild but wet, with occasional cold fronts and periods of heavy rain. Some private parks stay open year-round, while Lake Livingston State Park is undergoing improvements with portions of camping areas closed during construction.

The landscape is East Texas Piney Woods: tall pines, hardwood bottoms, and long stretches of shoreline broken up by coves and marinas. Roads into the private resorts are paved, and most sites accommodate big rigs with 30 and 50 amp service, though a few older loops cap length around 40 feet. Cell coverage is generally reliable along US 190 and drops off in the national forest. Alligators live in the surrounding lake and wetlands, so keep pets leashed and away from the water's edge. Summer brings mosquitoes and biting flies; bring repellent and screened shade. Grocery runs, fuel, and propane are easiest in Livingston or Onalaska across the lake. Nearest full-service medical care is in Livingston, and the closest major airport is George Bush Intercontinental in Houston, roughly 90 minutes south.
