Ennis Luxury RV Resort sits closer to Bardwell Lake, while The Range Vintage Trailer Resort offers a themed lodging experience in the same corridor. Camping near Navarro Mills Lake includes several U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds situated around the 5,070-acre reservoir, located approximately 60 miles south of Dallas and 40 miles east of Waco. That mix of private resorts and federal parks gives travelers flexibility on hookups, site style, and proximity to the lakes.
Things to do near Rice
Water recreation drives most trips. Navarro Mills Lake is known for excellent crappie fishing and water recreation opportunities, and the lake holds the state record white crappie at 4 pounds 9 ounces. Off the water, Ennis is home to the official Texas Bluebonnet Trail, and in April Ennis showcases over 40 miles of mapped driving trails sponsored by the Ennis Garden Club. The annual Ennis Bluebonnet Trail showcases over 40 miles of mapped driving of bluebonnet trails from April 1 through April 30 and is sponsored by Ennis Garden Club, which pulls heavy weekend traffic and fills lakeside campsites well in advance. Rainfall is fairly wet overall, spread fairly evenly throughout the year, though spring is typically the wettest season, and thunderstorms are common.
Summer is hot and humid. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F with high humidity, while winters are generally mild. Lake sites with shade and hookups for air conditioning are the most valuable in June through August, and holiday weekends book out early.
Fall cools gradually and is a comfortable stretch for RV camping. Most campgrounds at Navarro Mills Lake are open year-round, though Wolf Creek operates seasonally from early April through late September. Winter stays are quiet and mild, with occasional cold fronts and rare freezing rain.

Our experience with Yeehaw rentals and the owner Darren was great. There was a lot of good communication. We understood what needed to be done. He delivered as requested in a timely manner and we were able to meet with him. Do a walk-through of the Trailer and ensure that everything was in good working order. Him and his partner showed us all the different working aspects of the inside of the trailer and the outside I would definitely rent with them again

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rice,TexasWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Rice, Texas?
Good news: a standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Rice. Texas does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes and trailers under 26,001 pounds, which covers virtually every RV on RVezy. Approved RVezy renters are generally 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID right inside the platform during booking, so there is no extra paperwork to chase. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you are set. Most first-time renters in Rice are surprised at how straightforward the process is, leaving more time for the fun part: planning your route to Richland-Chambers Reservoir.

RVezy, not individual hosts, sets the cancellation policy for every booking, which means consistent, transparent rules whether you are renting a campervan in Rice or a Class C nearby. There is a money-back grace period right after booking, and additional refund options depending on how far out your trip is. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Rice, TX?
Absolutely, pets are part of the family and a pet-friendly RV rental in Rice is just a filter click away on RVezy. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page and you will see only the listings where hosts welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) aboard. Once you are rolling, the Rice area is a great place to travel with pets: leashed dogs are welcome at Navarro Mills Lake's Corps of Engineers campgrounds, and nearby Purtis Creek State Park allows leashed pets on trails and campsites. Bring vaccination records, a tie-out, and plenty of fresh water (Texas summer pavement gets hot fast). Tip: message the host before booking to mention your pet's size and breed for a smooth pickup.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/purtis-creekCan the RV be delivered to me in Rice, TX?
Yes, RV delivery in Rice is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who would rather skip towing a 30-foot trailer down the highway. Many local hosts will deliver the RV directly to your campsite at Navarro Mills Lake, Richland-Chambers Reservoir, or even your driveway in Rice, Corsicana, or Ennis. They will level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Use the Delivery filter when searching to see hosts offering this service, then check their listing for delivery radius and fees. It is the easiest way to enjoy a motorhome rental in Rice without ever sitting in the driver's seat.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rice,TexasHow does mileage work on an RV rental in Rice, TX?
Mileage policies are set by each host and shown clearly on the listing page before you book, so there are no surprises. Many Rice RV rentals come with a generous daily mileage allowance (often around 100 to 150 free miles per day), and some hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is a great deal for longer Texas road trips. Going over? Additional miles are charged at a clear per-mile rate disclosed up front. Tip: if you are planning a Hill Country loop or a run down to the Gulf, filter for unlimited-mileage listings or message hosts to add a mileage package. It often costs less than you would think and makes long Texas highways feel a lot shorter.

Summer (June to August) is genuinely hot, with highs regularly reaching the mid-90s, so plan early-morning drives and book sites with 50-amp service to run the air conditioner. Insider tip: book your April trip months ahead, the bluebonnet weekends sell out fast across the area.

Every RVezy host provides a full orientation at pickup, walking you through propane, slide-outs, water systems, and the dump procedure before you ever turn the key. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat road trips can I take from Rice, TX in an RV?
Rice sits at a road tripper's crossroads, with great destinations in every direction. Popular RV road trips from Rice include Austin (about 200 miles south, roughly 3 hours via I-45 and SH-130), the Texas Hill Country wineries around Fredericksburg (about 280 miles, 4.5 hours), Galveston Island beach camping (about 230 miles southeast, around 3.5 hours), Caddo Lake State Park in East Texas (about 175 miles, 3 hours), and Dinosaur Valley State Park near Glen Rose (about 100 miles west, under 2 hours). Travel into Mexico is not covered by RVezy protection, so plan your routes to stay within the U.S. Insider tip: Texas State Park campsites open reservations exactly five months out, so set a calendar reminder for the popular Hill Country parks.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/dinosaur-valleyWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting fuel for your Rice RV trip is easier than you would think. Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 10 miles per gallon, Class A coaches 6 to 8 mpg, campervans 14 to 18 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (figure 10 to 13 mpg for most half-ton trucks). Texas usually has below-average fuel prices, with plenty of large truck-friendly stations along I-45 in Corsicana and Ennis. For a typical 300-mile weekend in a Class C, plan around $120 to $170 in gas at recent prices. Tip: fill up in Corsicana before heading to Cedar Creek Lake, prices often drop noticeably outside the immediate lake area.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Rice, TX?
For the best campgrounds near Rice, aim to reserve four to five months ahead during peak season, especially for spring bluebonnet weekends, Memorial Day, July 4th, and fall hunting season. Texas State Parks open reservations five months in advance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department reservation system, and popular spots like Purtis Creek and Cedar Hill State Park book out within minutes for Saturday nights. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds at Navarro Mills, Bardwell, and Richland-Chambers Lakes are booked through Recreation.gov on a six-month rolling window. For private parks in nearby Corsicana, two to three weeks ahead is usually plenty. Tip: midweek arrivals are almost always available, even last-minute.

The town sits right on Interstate 45 between Dallas and Houston, with wide lanes, gentle terrain, and no mountain passes or tight switchbacks to worry about. Highway 287 and FM 1126 provide easy connections to Cedar Creek Lake and Corsicana. Watch for sudden spring thunderstorms (April and May), which can drop visibility quickly, and be alert for high-wind advisories on I-45 when driving taller Class A or fifth-wheel rigs. Summer afternoons can produce pop-up storms, so try to be parked by late afternoon. Tip: avoid driving through downtown Dallas with a large RV during weekday rush hours; instead, use Loop 12 or Loop 635 to bypass central Dallas.

Many listings add a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and onboard generator for off-grid stays at lakes like Richland-Chambers. Wi-Fi hotspots are sometimes included as a paid add-on. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rice,TexasWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Add-ons make a Rice RV trip feel turnkey. Popular extras hosts offer include linen and kitchen packages, generators, portable grills, camp chairs, bike racks, kayaks, and pet packages. Delivery fees vary by distance, with many local hosts charging a flat fee within a set radius and a per-mile rate beyond that. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Rice, Corsicana, or Ennis, with a 60 to 90 minute walkthrough scheduled at booking. Mileage policies are listed on every listing page. Tip: bundle linens and a kitchen kit with delivery so you arrive at Navarro Mills Lake to a fully set-up, ready-to-camp RV, no last-minute store run required.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rice,TexasHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment for your RV rental in Rice runs entirely through RVezy's secure platform, no cash or off-platform transactions needed. You will pay the rental total, taxes, service fee, and chosen protection plan at checkout with a credit or debit card. A refundable security deposit is held separately from the booking payment (commonly in the $500 to $1,500 range depending on the RV) and released back to your card after the trip, assuming the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid any deposit issues, take date-stamped photos of the interior, exterior, fuel gauge, and odometer at pickup and again at return, and dump the holding tanks before drop-off (or pay the host's clearly listed dump fee).
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I take my RV rental from Rice, TX across state lines or into Mexico?
Cross-state RV travel from Rice is welcomed and easy. Your RVezy protection plan and roadside assistance follow you throughout the continental United States, so a family RV trip from Rice, like a loop through Louisiana to New Orleans (about 470 miles east) or up to Oklahoma's Lake Texoma (about 130 miles north), is fully covered. Travel into Mexico is not allowed under RVezy's protection, so plan to stay north of the border on this trip. If you are dreaming of Big Bend National Park (about 550 miles west) or a Rocky Mountain run to Colorado, confirm your mileage allowance with the host first. Tip: I-45 north to Dallas connects you to almost every major U.S. interstate within an hour.
