Campgrounds and RV parks near Roby, TX

Roby sits in Fisher County on the Texas Rolling Plains, roughly 30 miles north of Sweetwater and about 55 miles northwest of Abilene. The town is the Fisher County seat and serves as a quiet base for RV travelers crossing West Texas or exploring the region between I-20 and the Caprock. Terrain here is open ranchland and mesquite country, with wide horizons and few natural windbreaks. RV options close to town are limited, so most travelers plan around small independent parks and a handful of larger campgrounds along the I-20 corridor to the south. Freedom RV Park, the Freedom RV Park I-20 Location, and Weeping Willow RV Park provide practical hookup stays for travelers routing through the area. Sites in this part of the state tend to be pull-through friendly and easy to access with larger rigs. For state-managed camping, the nearest options lie south and southwest: Abilene State Park on the shady banks of Elm Creek, about 16 miles southwest of Abilene, with a lake, fishing pond, historic swimming pool, trails, and camping, and Lake Colorado City State Park off I-20. Both are within a comfortable day's driving distance from Roby.

Texas state parks in the region are reserved through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, either online or by calling the customer service center. Reservations at Abilene State Park can be made for today and up to 5 months in advance, and screened shelters follow the same window. The park often reaches capacity, so reservations are highly recommended for both camping and day use, and day passes should be secured early for weekends and holidays. Private RV parks near Roby, including Freedom RV Park, the Freedom RV Park I-20 Location, and Weeping Willow RV Park, typically take reservations directly by phone or through the operator's website. Booking two to three weeks ahead is usually sufficient for weekdays, while spring and fall weekends fill sooner. Cancellation policies vary by park, so confirm terms at the time of booking.
