Family-friendly activities cluster around wildlife viewing, small lakes, and short hikes. Buena Vista Wildlife Safari and RV Park has a drive-through safari route where visitors can view exotic and native animals from their vehicle, along with a petting zoo and play areas onsite. At Crosstimbers - Meridian State Park, the park is set around Lake Meridian, which offers swimming and fishing. Paved roads that circle the lake are good for biking, and the park has several hiking trails. Meridian is part of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Great Texas Wildlife Trails, with common sightings including white-tailed deer, raccoons, armadillos, and many bird species.
