Campgrounds and RV parks near Seagraves, TX

The Gaines County Museum has locations in both Seagraves and Seminole and covers regional ranching, farming, and oilfield history along with the cultures that shaped the county. Day trips reach Hobbs, New Mexico, which has a zoo, a nearby state park, and the Western Heritage Museum at New Mexico Junior College. Cedar Lake, a large salt playa on the Llano Estacado north of Seagraves, is a quiet birding stop during wet months. Farther out, Monahans Sandhills State Park offers dune hiking and sand-disc rentals about two hours south. Lubbock, roughly 75 miles northeast, adds the Buddy Holly Center, the National Ranching Heritage Center, and Texas Tech sporting events. Local activities skew toward driving tours, small-town diners, and stargazing under dark West Texas skies.

Seagraves has a semi-arid climate with hot summers, mild but windy winters, and low annual rainfall. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel. March through May brings warming days and active wildflower color on the plains, but also the highest wind speeds of the year and occasional severe thunderstorm risk including hail and tornado watches. September through November cools quickly, with sunny days, cool nights, and far fewer storms. Summer runs hot. Daytime highs frequently reach the mid-90s Fahrenheit from June through August, and afternoon thunderstorms can move through quickly. Shaded sites are limited at most local parks, so air conditioning and full-hookup electric service matter. Winters are short and generally dry, with cold snaps that can bring freezing temperatures, brief snow, and ice on roads. Most area RV parks stay open year-round to serve workforce traffic, but amenities like pools or rec rooms may be limited off-season.

Expect a working-town atmosphere rather than a resort feel. Many parks in and around Seagraves host long-term oilfield tenants, so layouts favor pull-through full-hookup sites on gravel or caliche pads with limited landscaping and little natural shade. Wind is a near-daily factor on the plains, so awnings should be retracted when sites are unattended. Cellular coverage is generally reliable on major carriers, and groceries, fuel, and propane are available in Seagraves or in nearby Seminole and Denver City. Wildlife sightings are modest, mostly jackrabbits, mourning doves, and the occasional pronghorn in surrounding fields. Roads into town are flat and easy to navigate for larger rigs and towables.
