Campgrounds and RV parks near Vinton, TX

Vinton is a small village on the northwest edge of the El Paso metropolitan area, tucked between Interstate 10 and the Rio Grande in far west Texas. It sits at roughly 3,800 feet of elevation in the Chihuahuan Desert, with the Franklin Mountains to the east and New Mexico immediately across the river to the west. The location makes it a practical staging point for RV travelers heading to Franklin Mountains State Park, White Sands, Guadalupe Mountains, or points along I-10. Options in the immediate area lean toward full-hookup RV parks rather than public campgrounds. Road Host RV Monthly Extended Stay in El Paso caters to longer-term guests, while Gaslight Square Mobile Home and RV Park, El Paso West RV Park, and El Paso Roadrunner RV Park offer more traditional nightly and weekly stays with pull-throughs and standard hookups. For a public-lands experience, Franklin Mountains State Park provides primitive tent and RV sites inside one of the largest urban state parks in the United States, giving travelers a genuine desert setting within a short drive of Vinton.

Franklin Mountains State Park takes reservations through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department reservation system, either online or by phone with the customer service center. The Tom Mays Unit holds 14 walk-in tent sites and 5 drive-up RV sites. None have water or electric hookups, so plan on dry camping and haul in enough water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. Day-use entry also benefits from an advance pass, since the park frequently reaches capacity on weekends. Private parks such as El Paso West RV Park, El Paso Roadrunner RV Park, and Gaslight Square Mobile Home and RV Park book directly with the property. Road Host RV Monthly Extended Stay in El Paso is oriented toward longer stays and typically requires phone or email contact to confirm availability.
