Campgrounds and RV parks near Benjamin, UT

Utah Lake dominates the local recreation menu. The state park provides four boat launch ramps, courtesy docks, a swim beach, and year-round fishing for channel catfish, walleye, white bass, black bass, and panfish. Canoeing and paddleboarding are popular on the lake, which averages around 75 degrees in summer. The Nebo Loop National Scenic Byway starts a short drive south in Payson, climbing to over 9,000 feet through the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Payson Lakes Recreation Area, about 12 miles south of Payson, has paved trails, picnic areas, and fishing. Provo Canyon offers hiking, tubing, and Blue Ribbon river fishing. For golfers, Gladstan RV Park sits on an 18-hole course. Provo's shopping, restaurants, and BYU campus are within roughly 15 miles.

Summer is the primary camping season along the Wasatch Front. June through August brings hot, dry days, with afternoon highs commonly in the upper 80s to low 90s Fahrenheit. Utah Lake water temperatures peak around 80 degrees in July, drawing heavy day-use traffic to the state park. Mosquitoes are a known issue near the lake from late spring through early fall, so bug repellent is essential. Spring and fall are cooler and quieter. The Nebo Loop typically opens around Memorial Day, though heavy snowpack can push the opening into June or July, and it closes again in late October or early November. Developed forest campgrounds along the loop generally close around November. Fall foliage in Payson Canyon peaks in late September and early October. Winter is cold, with snow common at valley elevations and heavy snowpack in the mountains. Most private RV parks in the valley stay open year-round, but higher-elevation forest sites are inaccessible. Stage 2 fire restrictions can be in place at Utah Lake State Park during dry spells, prohibiting open fires and charcoal.

Utah Lake State Park has 31 RV sites with water and electric hookups but no full hookups. A dump station, showers, and modern restrooms are on-site, sites have paved parking spurs, and RVs up to 47 feet can be accommodated. Expect heavy day-use traffic in summer and mosquitoes near the water. Springville/Provo KOA Holiday offers paved, level full-hookup sites with 50-amp service, a pool, playground, and clubhouse. It sits just off I-15, so some road and rail noise is normal. Gladstan RV Park provides full hookups on sites within a golf course, and sites can be tight for large rigs. Cell coverage is generally strong throughout the Utah Valley. Groceries, fuel, and RV supplies are readily available in Provo, Springville, Spanish Fork, and Payson.
