Campgrounds and RV parks near Benson, UT

Water recreation drives most trips. Hyrum State Park is a year-round fishing destination for bass, trout, perch, and bluegill, and in summer the park hosts a variety of water sports including boating, waterskiing, and swimming. Mantua Reservoir south of Brigham City is a popular fishing and paddling spot, and the Cache Valley area gives easy access to Bear Lake to the east. For hikers and cyclists, Logan Canyon east of town has river-side trails, overlooks, and access to Tony Grove Lake. Hyrum State Park makes a base camp for hikers, bikers, rock climbers, and auto tours, with close proximity to Logan and Blacksmith Fork canyons, the American West Heritage Center, and the Wellsville Mountains. For a soak, Belmont Hot Springs has two natural mineral spring lakes at 97 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit alongside full-hookup RV sites.

Peak RV season in Cache Valley runs late May through mid-September, when reservoir temperatures are warm enough for swimming and canyon campgrounds are fully open. Summer weekends and holidays fill quickly at Hyrum State Park and at national forest sites in Logan Canyon, so reserve well ahead. Spring brings snowmelt, higher creek flows, and the wettest months in the valley, with April and May normals reaching close to three inches. Higher-elevation campgrounds and trails may stay snowbound into June. Fall is often the sweet spot for RV travelers, with cooler nights, thinner crowds, and strong color in Logan Canyon and along the Wellsville front. Winter shifts the mix. Most public canyon campgrounds close by late October, but a few private RV parks stay open, and Belmont offers year-round full RV hookups with 30 and 50 amp electricity, water, and sewer at every site. Expect cold nights, snow, and icy roads. Hyrum Reservoir remains a year-round fishing destination and supports ice fishing when conditions allow.

Cache Valley sits above 4,400 feet, so nights are cool even in summer and mornings can be chilly well into June. Afternoon thunderstorms build over the mountains in July and August, and wind can pick up on open reservoirs. Hyrum Reservoir offers good water access, though conditions vary seasonally, and the lake can become choppy when windy or during heavy boat traffic. Site types vary. Hyrum State Park has approximately 50 campsites, a mix of tent and RV spaces, and campground rules allow only one vehicle including camper, trailer, or motorhome and one tent per site, with eight people allowed per campsite. Belmont Hot Springs offers full-hookup sites with 30 and 50 amp electricity, water, and sewer, angled for easy in and out. Check algae advisories for area reservoirs before swimming in late summer, and note that Hyrum State Park gates close at 10 p.m.
