RV camping near Harrisville, Utah
Harrisville sits just north of Ogden in Weber County, at the foot of the Wasatch Range and a short drive from the eastern shore of the Great Salt Lake. The area works well as a base for RV travelers because Interstate 15 runs directly past town, connecting sites north toward Brigham City and south toward Salt Lake City within roughly an hour.
Most nearby camping options cluster around Willard Bay, a freshwater reservoir located 12 miles northwest of Ogden on the flood plains of the Great Salt Lake. The state park operates two marinas, the north and south, and both are equipped with modern campgrounds, boat launches, restrooms, waterfront picnic areas, and docks. South Marina - Willard Bay State Park and Willow Creek - Willard Bay State Park are the two developed campground loops available for reservation inside the park.
Private options add flexibility for larger rigs. Willard Peak Campground and Century RV Park and Campground Motorhome Park cater to full-hookup RV travel, while Brigham City / Perry South KOA Journey offers a highway-adjacent stop north of Harrisville.
Things to do around Harrisville
Water activities dominate the local calendar at Willard Bay. Anglers fish for walleye, wiper, crappie, and catfish, swim beaches offer a way to cool off in summer, and both marinas support boating, waterskiing, and stand-up paddleboarding.
Birding is a year-round draw. The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge is a short drive from Harrisville, and Willard Bay itself is a notable birding destination, especially for bald eagles in winter.
On the mountain side, the Wasatch foothills climb steeply above town. Willard Peak is a 9,763-foot summit set on the crest of the Wasatch Range on land managed by the surrounding national forest, and it is the highest point in Weber County and the Northern Wasatch Range. Hiking, scenic drives, and orchard visits along Utah's Fruit Way round out the itinerary.

Willard Bay State Park is open year-round, but the best window for full activity is spring through fall, when marinas, swim beaches, and campground loops are all in operation. Reservations for summer weekends tend to disappear quickly, so booking well in advance is important.
Spring brings the wettest weather and rising reservoir levels, along with active migratory bird traffic. Summer is hot and dry, ideal for water sports but with strong sun and afternoon heat that make shaded sites popular. Fall cools off quickly after Labor Day, and the KOA fills for Brigham City Peach Days, a mid-September tradition celebrated across northern Utah.
Winter is quieter. The South Marina loops close for the cold months, while the North Marina stays open year-round and hosts the Fantasy at the Bay holiday light display from late November through December. Eagle viewing at Willard Bay is a notable off-season draw, and mosquito repellent is recommended in the warmer months.

How to book campgrounds near Harrisville
Willard Bay State Park sites, including South Marina and Willow Creek, are reserved through the Utah State Parks system on ReserveAmerica. All campsites and yurts are available for reservation on a four-month rolling basis, so on January 10, for example, sites are available through May 10, with a maximum of 13 days beyond the last date of the window. The Reservation Call Center is reachable at 800-322-3770 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time, Monday through Friday.
Some sites may be available only from the campground on a first-come, first-served basis. Private campgrounds use their own systems: Brigham City / Perry South KOA Journey books through the KOA website or by phone, Willard Peak Campground books through Campspot or direct, and Century RV Park and Campground Motorhome Park takes reservations directly. Summer holiday weekends should be locked in as early as the rolling window allows.
What to expect on arrival
Access is straightforward. Willard Bay State Park sits roughly 12 miles northwest of Ogden, just off Interstate 15. From I-15 northbound, take exit 357 for the North Marina, or exit 351 for the South Marina, Day Use Areas, and Campgrounds a little farther west of the freeway.
Expect developed facilities at the state park loops, with paved roads, restrooms, hot showers, and full or partial hookups on many sites. Private RV parks in Willard and Perry offer full hookups, showers, and laundry. Willard Peak Campground is an RV-only park with full-hookup sites that can accommodate large rigs.
Quiet hours typically run from 10 pm to 7 am, trash must go in designated receptacles, and pets must be kept on a leash. Refunds are not given for changing park conditions such as water levels or fire bans.

nps.gov/grte/planyourvisit/directions.htmHow much should I budget for fuel on a Harrisville RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, but it's predictable once you know the numbers. Travel trailers towed by a host's truck or your own typically deliver 10 to 14 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A rigs run 6 to 10 MPG. Utah gas prices generally sit slightly below the national average, and Harrisville has several stations along Washington Boulevard and near the I-15 Exit 347 interchange with diesel pumps suited for larger rigs. For a 300-mile weekend, budget roughly $120 to $200 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: GasBuddy and the Maverik stations along I-15 typically post the lowest local prices.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Harrisville?
For summer weekends (mid-June through Labor Day), book 3 to 4 months out, Utah State Parks like Willard Bay and Antelope Island release reservations on a rolling four-month window through ReserveAmerica, and prime sites at Pineview's Anderson Cove fill within minutes. US Forest Service campgrounds in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest are reservable on Recreation.gov, also up to six months ahead. For weekday or shoulder-season trips, two to three weeks is usually fine. Pro tip: if you strike out, Willard Bay's South Marina and several first-come, first-served sites along the South Fork Ogden River often have openings, just arrive by Thursday afternoon to claim a spot.
recreation.gov/What are driving conditions like around Harrisville?
Harrisville's local roads are RV-friendly: wide arterials like Washington Boulevard and 2000 North, easy access to I-15 and Highway 89, and minimal city congestion compared to Salt Lake. Heading into the mountains, Ogden Canyon (Highway 39) is scenic but narrow with a few tight curves, take it slow in anything over 30 feet. Trappers Loop (Highway 167) is the wider, easier route over to Pineview and Snowbasin. Winter brings snow and ice from November through March, so check UDOT's road conditions before any canyon drive. Summer afternoons can bring sudden thunderstorms with crosswinds on I-15 near the Great Salt Lake; if gusts pick up, slow down and grip the wheel firmly.
udottraffic.utah.gov/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Harrisville?
Most developed campgrounds in the Ogden area offer the essentials you need for a smooth trip. Private parks like Century RV Park and Riverside RV Resort have full hookups (water, electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, laundry, and dump stations. Utah State Parks such as Willard Bay typically provide electric and water hookups, modern restrooms with showers, and on-site dump stations, sewer at the site is less common. National Forest campgrounds like Anderson Cove and Monte Cristo are usually dry with vault toilets and potable water spigots but no hookups, perfect for self-contained RVs. To top off freshwater or dump tanks between trips, Love's Travel Stop in Perry (15 minutes north) and Century RV both offer public dump access for a small fee.

Most RVs listed in the Harrisville area come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, bunks or convertible dinettes for extra sleepers, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink and cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control (furnace and air conditioning), and proper seatbelted seating for travel. Many listings also include a TV, Wi-Fi hotspot or onboard antenna, an onboard generator for off-grid trips to Monte Cristo or Anderson Cove, outdoor chairs, and a propane grill. Each listing page shows a complete amenities checklist, just scroll down before booking. Pro tip: if you want linens, dishes, or a starter kit included, filter for listings that bundle them or message the host to add them as an extra.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Harrisville%2C%20UtahWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Harrisville hosts offer a wide range of helpful add-ons to customize your trip: bedding and towel packages, fully stocked kitchen kits, portable propane fire pits (a smart pick since many Utah campgrounds have summer fire bans on wood), generators, bike racks, kayaks, and even Starlink Wi-Fi on some listings. Standard pickup is at the host's address, usually in Harrisville, Ogden, North Ogden, or Pleasant View, but delivery is widely available for an extra fee. Mileage policies vary, with many hosts including 100 to 150 free miles per day and some offering unlimited mileage for longer trips. Always confirm pickup time, mileage allowance, and generator hours by messaging the host before you book.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Harrisville%2C%20UtahHow do payments and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card when you book, no cash changing hands at pickup. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card before the trip, typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV's value, and it is released after your safe return assuming no damage, missing items, or extra cleaning. To avoid deposit issues, take date-stamped photos of the RV inside and out at both pickup and drop-off, return it with the same fuel and propane levels, and empty the tanks if your host requires it. Transparent, secure, and no surprises.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksAre RV rentals available in Harrisville during winter for ski trips?
Yes, and it is one of the best-kept secrets of the area. Harrisville sits about 30 minutes from Snowbasin (host of the 2002 Olympic downhill events) and roughly 45 minutes from Powder Mountain, making a winter RV rental in Harrisville UT a fun, budget-friendly alternative to pricey ski lodging. Look for four-season RVs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and reliable furnaces, and message hosts to confirm winter readiness before booking. Plan to stay at a private park with shore power and water like Century RV Park or Riverside RV Resort, since most state and forest campgrounds close for the season. Pro tip: carry tire chains for canyon roads and an extra propane tank, furnaces work hard on sub-freezing Wasatch nights.
