Campgrounds and RV parks near Mantua, UT

The reservoir is the local anchor. It is stocked for fishing, calm enough for kayaks and paddleboards, and rimmed by a walking path suitable for kids and dogs. The setting makes it easy to launch small craft for a morning paddle before moving on. Hiking and OHV trails climb into the Wasatch and Bear River Range directly from town, with routes running up toward Willard Peak and Ben Lomond. Willard Bay, about fifteen minutes away, adds a larger freshwater reservoir with swimming beaches, boat ramps at both the North and South Marinas, and fishing for walleye, wiper, and catfish. Day trips from a Mantua basecamp commonly include Golden Spike National Historical Park, the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, and downtown Logan.

The developed camping season in this corner of northern Utah runs roughly from spring through early fall, and most state park and forest sites concentrate reservations inside that window. Willard Bay State Park stays open year-round for day use, but flush restrooms and showers are typically shut down through the late-fall and winter months, with vault toilets and the dump station remaining available. Summer is peak. Willard Bay campgrounds fill quickly on weekends, and the park is frequently sprayed for mosquito abatement during the warm months, with dates posted at the park entrance. Water levels in Willard Bay fluctuate and can affect beach access and boat launching, so checking current park conditions before arrival is worthwhile. Shoulder seasons work well for RV renters who want cooler temperatures and open sites. Winter brings snow, freezing overnight lows, and limited services, but Willard Bay is a known bald eagle viewing area and the private parks in Mantua and Willard stay open for self-contained rigs.

Sites near Mantua are a mix of paved and gravel pads. Mantua Waterfront RV Resort offers full-hookup sites on the reservoir with picnic tables and fire pits. Willard Peak Campground provides flat gravel pads with full hookups, hot showers, and an on-site laundromat, and it is set up for RVs rather than tents. Willow Creek at Willard Bay offers both tent sites and full-hookup RV sites with a staffed entry gate, a playground, and beach access. Shade varies by loop. Cell coverage is generally strong on the valley floor and weaker on forest roads climbing above town. Mosquitoes can be heavy near Willard Bay in early summer, and Mantua nights stay cool even in July, so warm layers are worth packing.
