Camping near Mount Pleasant, Utah
Mount Pleasant sits in the Sanpete Valley in central Utah, on the west side of the Wasatch Plateau and the Manti-La Sal National Forest. The town works as a practical base for RV travelers heading to the Arapeen OHV Trail System, Skyline Drive, and the reservoirs that dot the plateau. Elevations climb quickly east of town, so nearby campgrounds range from valley-floor RV parks with full hookups to forest sites above 7,000 feet.
Close-in options include Skyline Trails RV Park and Pleasant Creek RV Resort in and around Mount Pleasant, plus High Country RV Camping and Rollin' Home RV Park for travelers who want a straightforward pull-through stay. A short drive south leads to Wakara - Palisade State Park near Sterling, which pairs lakeside camping with a golf course and electric-motor boating.
Most trips through the area combine hookup nights in the valley with day drives up onto the plateau for trails, fishing, and cooler temperatures.
Things to do around Mount Pleasant
The Arapeen OHV Trail System is the region's headline draw, with hundreds of miles of designated, maintained trails suitable for a range of riding levels. Skyline Drive follows the top of the Wasatch Plateau for more than 60 miles, passing glacial cirques, spruce-fir and aspen forests, and numerous lakes and reservoirs.
At Palisade State Park, visitors can camp in tents, RVs, and cabins, and the reservoir supports fishing, swimming, non-motorized and electric-motor boating, golfing, and hiking. Anglers on Palisade Reservoir target rainbow trout and tiger trout, with a small number of cutthroat trout.
Maple Canyon offers rock climbing and hiking, and the historic streets of Spring City sit a short drive south of Mount Pleasant.

Late May through September is the practical RV season for the higher country. Forest Service campgrounds along Skyline Drive sit between roughly 7,000 and 10,000 feet, and higher sites like Twelve Mile Flat, near 10,000 feet, open only after snowmelt. Lower-elevation parks in the valley operate longer shoulder seasons.
Summer brings the busiest bookings for ATV trips and reservoir camping. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in July and August, and wildflowers peak on the plateau. Fall delivers aspen color across the Manti-La Sal, cooler nights, and hunting seasons that can fill dispersed sites and forest campgrounds on short notice.
Winter access is limited above the valley floor. Palisade State Park is open year round, and private RV parks in Mount Pleasant such as Skyline Trails RV Park stay open, but most Forest Service sites close and the plateau becomes a snowmobile and cross-country ski area.
How to book a site
Utah State Parks sites, including Wakara - Palisade State Park, are booked through the Utah State Parks reservation system on ReserveAmerica. Individual campsites open on a rolling four-month window, from two days to four months before arrival, with a maximum stay of five nights. Popular summer weekends and holidays fill months out, so book as soon as the window opens.
Manti-La Sal National Forest campgrounds are reserved through Recreation.gov, with some loops keeping first-come, first-served sites. Private RV parks in and near Mount Pleasant, including Skyline Trails RV Park, Pleasant Creek RV Resort, High Country RV Camping, and Rollin' Home RV Park, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone.
What to expect on the ground
Valley RV parks near Mount Pleasant generally offer full or partial hookups, level pads, and easy highway access from US-89. They work well as a base for day trips onto the plateau and for larger rigs that would struggle on Forest Service roads.
Forest campgrounds sit at higher elevation and are typically dry, with no potable water at the site and vault toilets in place of flush restrooms. Many operate on a pack-it-in, pack-it-out basis, and cell service is spotty once you leave the valley.
At Palisade State Park, only electric-motor boats are allowed on the reservoir, and quiet hours run from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Park hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., though there is no gate, so late arrivals with reservations can still access their sites.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Mount Pleasant?
Absolutely, and Mount Pleasant is a fantastic basecamp for four-legged travelers. Many hosts offer a pet-friendly RV rental Mount Pleasant guests love, and you can filter listings on RVezy by Pet-Friendly to see them instantly. Once you arrive, dogs are welcome on most trails in the Manti-La Sal National Forest (leashed), and Mount Pleasant City Park downtown is a great leashed walking spot after a day on the Arapeen OHV system. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and bring proof of vaccinations for any guided trail outings.
fs.usda.gov/mantilasalCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Mount Pleasant?
Yes, and it's a game-changer for first-timers. RV delivery Mount Pleasant hosts commonly drop off and set up your motorhome or travel trailer right at your reserved site, whether that's Manti-La Sal KOA Holiday in town, Palisade State Park 20 miles south in Sterling, or a dispersed spot near Maple Canyon. The host will level the rig, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave, so you're not figuring out slide-outs in the dark. Filter by Delivery on RVezy to see options, and ask the host about their per-mile delivery rate. Pro tip: delivery is ideal if you're flying into Salt Lake City and want to skip the 2-hour drive south.
stateparks.utah.gov/parks/palisade/How far can I drive my RV rental from Mount Pleasant?
You've got incredible range from Mount Pleasant. Hosts set their own mileage policy, and many offer generous daily allotments or even an RV rental with unlimited mileage. Popular drives include Salt Lake City (about 115 miles north), Provo and Bridal Veil Falls (75 miles northwest), Moab and Arches National Park (around 180 miles southeast), Capitol Reef National Park (130 miles south), and Bryce Canyon (170 miles southwest). A Mount Pleasant RV trip is also perfectly positioned for a multi-park loop through southern Utah's Mighty Five. Pro tip: review the host's mileage cap on the listing page and message them directly if you're planning a big southern Utah loop so you can build the right package upfront.
nps.gov/arch/index.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Mount Pleasant for RV camping?
You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping Mount Pleasant. Top picks include Manti-La Sal KOA Holiday right in town with full hookups and ATV wash stations, Skyline Trails RV Park for full 20/30/50-amp sites at the mouth of Pleasant Creek Canyon, Palisade State Park in Sterling (20 miles south) with reservoir swimming and an 18-hole golf course, and Maple Canyon Campground in the Manti-La Sal National Forest for world-class climbing and shaded conglomerate cliffs. Potters Pond is another rustic favorite up on the Wasatch Plateau. Pro tip: these are the best campgrounds near Mount Pleasant, but they fill fast on summer weekends, so book your site and your RV together.
stateparks.utah.gov/parks/palisade/When is the best time of year to plan a Mount Pleasant RV trip?
Late May through early October is prime time for an RV rental in Utah's Sanpete Valley. Summer days in Mount Pleasant typically run 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit with cool 50-degree nights thanks to the 5,925-foot elevation, making it noticeably more comfortable than Moab or St. George. June brings wildflowers on Skyline Drive, September delivers crisp days and golden aspens in Maple Canyon, and October is perfect for the famous Sanpete fall foliage. Winters are cold with snow and sub-freezing nights, but a few hosts and the Manti-La Sal KOA stay open year-round for snowmobiling adventures. Pro tip: target the week after Labor Day for warm days, empty trails, and the lowest nightly RV rental rates.
weather.gov/slc/I've never rented an RV before. Is Mount Pleasant a good place to start?
It's one of the friendliest spots in Utah for a first time renting an RV. Mount Pleasant sits on quiet U.S. Highway 89 with light traffic, wide rural roads, and no big-city congestion to navigate, so you can build confidence before tackling mountain passes. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering propane, water, slide-outs, dump procedures, and the generator, and you can text or call them throughout your trip. Many hosts also deliver and set up, so your very first RV experience can begin with the rig already parked and leveled. Pro tip: book a Class C or campervan rental Mount Pleasant for an easier driving experience than a 35-foot Class A.
udot.utah.gov/connect/What happens if my RV breaks down during my trip?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Skyline Drive, a dead battery at Palisade State Park, or a lockout at a local campground is handled with one phone call. RVezy's support team is also available before, during, and after every trip through the Help Center if you need anything beyond mechanical help. Your host is typically a quick text away too, and most know exactly which Sanpete County mechanics and tire shops to recommend. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone before pickup and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate so you have it ready.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Mount Pleasant RV rental to other states or across the border?
Yes, you have lots of road-trip freedom. Interstate travel is allowed on most RVezy rentals, so an RV road trip from Mount Pleasant can easily reach Yellowstone (about 350 miles north), Grand Canyon's North Rim (around 320 miles south), or Las Vegas (about 380 miles southwest). Travel into Canada may be permitted on select listings with host approval and insurance confirmation, so always message the host first. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not allowed on any RVezy rental because insurance and protection coverage do not extend south of the border. Pro tip: confirm your planned route in writing with your host before booking so everyone is aligned on mileage and destinations.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Mount Pleasant RV trip?
Fuel is easier to plan than you'd think. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 10 to 14 MPG, and Class A motorhomes run 7 to 10 MPG. Utah gas prices in Sanpete County generally track close to the national average and tend to be cheaper than California or Nevada, so fill up in Mount Pleasant or Ephraim before heading into the mountains where stations are sparse. A typical 3-day, 300-mile loop in a Class C burns roughly 25 to 30 gallons. Pro tip: there's a gas station and grocery store right on Main Street in Mount Pleasant, but once you climb Skyline Drive, you won't see another pump for 40-plus miles, so top off before heading up.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Mount Pleasant?
For summer weekends, book 3 to 6 months ahead and you'll be set. Utah State Parks like Palisade reserve through ReserveAmerica's Utah portal, and Manti-La Sal National Forest sites including Maple Canyon and Potters Pond book through Recreation.gov up to 6 months in advance. Private parks like Manti-La Sal KOA Holiday and Skyline Trails RV Park take direct reservations and often have midweek openings even in July. For dispersed camping on national forest land, no reservation is needed, just a dispersal map. Pro tip: lock in your RVezy rental first, then book the campground the same day so your dates line up perfectly for your Sanpete Valley adventure.
recreation.gov/What are the driving conditions like around Mount Pleasant?
Driving here is refreshingly relaxed compared to Utah's big cities. U.S. Highway 89 through Mount Pleasant is a wide, two-lane scenic byway with light traffic, gentle grades, and clear sightlines, perfect for RV beginners. The main challenge is elevation: Skyline Drive climbs above 10,000 feet with switchbacks and is closed by snow from roughly late October through June. Winter brings ice and chain-up advisories on canyon roads, while summer afternoons can spark thunderstorms over the Wasatch Plateau. Avoid the rough dirt access roads to dispersed sites in larger Class A rigs. Pro tip: check UDOT's road conditions hotline (511) before driving Skyline Drive or Huntington Canyon, especially after spring rains when potholes can surprise you.
udot.utah.gov/connect/public/road-conditions/What amenities can I expect at Mount Pleasant area campgrounds?
Local campgrounds are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Manti-La Sal KOA Holiday and Skyline Trails RV Park both offer 20/30/50-amp full hookups (water, sewer, electric), Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, and dump stations. Palisade State Park has electric and water sites plus a dump station, a swim beach, and a golf course on property. National forest campgrounds like Maple Canyon are rustic with vault toilets and no hookups, so plan to use your RV's onboard tanks. The Sinclair station on Main Street in Mount Pleasant offers potable water fill, and most private parks let day-trippers dump for a small fee. Pro tip: top off fresh water before heading up to dispersed sites on the Manti-La Sal plateau.
stateparks.utah.gov/parks/palisade/What features and equipment come with a typical Mount Pleasant RV rental?
You're getting a fully outfitted home on wheels. A typical motorhome rental Mount Pleasant includes a queen or king bed plus convertible dinette and over-cab bunks (sleeping 4 to 7), a full kitchen with stove, microwave, and refrigerator, a bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning, furnace, and a generator or solar setup for off-grid nights at Maple Canyon. Most rigs include seatbelts for everyone traveling, a TV, and many offer Wi-Fi hotspots. Travel trailers sleep similar numbers but require a tow vehicle. Pro tip: ask your host whether linens, camp chairs, and a starter propane tank are included, or available as add-ons, so you know exactly what to pack for your Sanpete Valley trip.
fs.usda.gov/mantilasalWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for an RV rental in Mount Pleasant?
Hosts make customization easy. Popular add-ons for RV rental Utah trips include linen and kitchen kits ($30 to $75), camp chairs and tables ($10 to $25), portable generators, bike racks, ATV trailer hitches (a must for the 350-mile Arapeen OHV system right outside Mount Pleasant), and pet packages. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Mount Pleasant, Ephraim, or Fairview, and many hosts deliver to your campground for a per-mile fee. Mileage policies vary by host, with daily allotments commonly ranging from 100 to 250 free miles, and some listings offering unlimited mileage. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus an ATV hitch and head straight to the Arapeen trailhead for the ultimate Sanpete adventure.
fs.usda.gov/recarea/mantilasal/recarea/?recid=80052How do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure. You'll pay for your Mount Pleasant RV rental directly through the RVezy platform with a credit card, so no cash changes hands with the host. A separate refundable security deposit is placed on your card before pickup (commonly $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV), released after the trip assuming the rig is returned in good shape with the agreed fuel and tank levels. To avoid issues, take date-stamped photos and a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff. Pro tip: review the host's fuel and dump-station policy on the listing page so you can return the RV exactly as expected and get your full deposit back fast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Mount Pleasant for winter or cold-weather trips?
Yes, and winter here is a hidden gem. Several RVezy hosts keep four-season rigs available year-round, and Manti-La Sal KOA Holiday stays open through winter for snowmobilers heading to the Skyline Drive trail system, which is one of Utah's best groomed snowmobile networks. Look for listings that mention heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and shore-power capability so you can plug into 30-amp electric and run the furnace through 15-degree Sanpete nights. Pro tip: book a campervan rental Mount Pleasant or a Class C with a strong furnace, plan to use heated water hose connections, and message the host to confirm winter readiness before locking in your dates. A snowy Wasatch Plateau sunrise is worth every layer.
