Campgrounds and RV parks near Oak City, UT

Yuba Lake is the main draw. The reservoir supports boating, waterskiing, paddleboarding, swimming, and fishing for walleye, northern pike, perch, and catfish, with sandy shorelines that are unusual for interior Utah. Sandy Beach at Yuba Lake and Oasis - Yuba Lake State Park are popular for day use as well as overnight stays, and the park now includes two zip lines near Oasis. On land, the Canyon Range east of Oak City offers hiking and OHV routes on Forest Service and BLM roads. Oak Creek Canyon has picnic areas and trout fishing in the creek. Little Sahara Recreation Area, an off-highway-vehicle destination with large sand dunes, is roughly an hour north. For day trips, Fillmore and the Territorial Statehouse State Park Museum lie about half an hour south, and Great Basin National Park is reachable as a longer excursion west across the Nevada border.

Peak season for Yuba Lake runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when water temperatures climb and reservoir levels are typically at their highest. Weekends in July and holiday periods book out well in advance, and daytime crowds at Sandy Beach and Oasis - Yuba Lake State Park are heavy. Weekday arrivals see far more availability. Shoulder seasons in May and September are the most comfortable for RV travel. Days are warm, nights cool, biting insects are less active, and reservations are easier to secure. Water levels in late summer can drop noticeably in dry years, which changes the shoreline at some Yuba Lake sites, and the Painted Rocks boat ramp may close during low-water periods while Oasis typically stays operational. Winter is cold and quiet. Yuba Lake State Park stays open year-round, but water systems at most loops are typically winterized and freezing overnight temperatures are common at Oak City's elevation. Snow is possible from November through April but usually clears quickly in the valley. Confirm current services with the park and with Antelope Valley RV Park before an off-season trip.

Sites at Yuba Lake State Park range from open, exposed pads with limited shade to more sheltered spots. Hookups are mixed: Oasis and Painted Rocks offer partial hookups with water and electric at many sites, while Eagle View is primitive beach-style camping with vault toilets and no drinking water. A dump station is available at the park. Cell coverage is generally usable but variable by carrier and by loop. Oak City has a small store and fuel, but selection is limited. Larger supplies, propane, and RV parts are easier to find in Nephi to the north or Fillmore to the south, both on Interstate 15. Stock up before arriving. Summer sun is intense at this elevation and shade is scarce along the reservoir, so awnings, water, and sun protection matter. Wind can pick up quickly over open water; secure loose gear at exposed lakeside sites.
