Campgrounds and RV parks near Plain City, UT

Willard Bay is the main draw. The reservoir supports boating, water skiing, stand-up paddleboarding, and fishing for walleye, wiper, crappie, and catfish. Two marinas and boat ramps provide water access, and sandy beaches at the North Marina include cabanas for day use. Birding is a year-round activity. The park sits only a few miles from the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, and Willard Bay itself becomes a wildlife-watching area for nesting bald eagles in winter. The Perry/Willard walking trail offers easy family walks and bike rides. East of Plain City, the Wasatch foothills open up hiking, ATV riding, and a drive up to Inspiration Point above Willard Basin. Golden Spike National Historical Park is roughly 40 minutes away, and Antelope Island State Park lies a short drive south.

The Willard Bay area draws campers year-round, but the practical season runs from spring through fall when the weather is warmer and all activities are available. The South Marina at Willard Bay is open April through October, while other sites in the park stay accessible longer. Late spring and summer bring the crowds: water levels are highest, the swim area is open, and both marinas run at capacity on weekends. Summer along the Wasatch Front is hot and dry, with July highs averaging near 90 degrees. Fire restrictions are common in dry periods, so travelers should confirm current fire status with the park before arrival. The park is also frequently sprayed for mosquito abatement during summer, with dates posted at the entrance. Winter brings freezing temperatures, snowfall, and a quieter park. Willard Bay shifts into a wildlife-viewing destination for nesting bald eagles, and the surrounding ski resorts about twenty minutes east receive heavy snow. Willard Peak Campground and Brigham City / Perry South KOA Journey continue to host RVers through the cooler months with full hookups and weekly or monthly options.

Willard Bay campsites sit under tall cottonwoods along the reservoir shore, with paved pads, fire rings, and access to modern restrooms, hot showers, and a sewage disposal station. Both marinas fill on summer weekends, so flexibility on arrival day helps. Willard Peak Campground is an RV-only park about a mile from the state park, accommodating rigs up to 71 feet with full hookups, flat gravel pads, hot showers, laundry, and text-based check-in. Tents are not permitted. The Brigham City / Perry South KOA Journey offers long pull-thru sites, cabins, a seasonal pool, and a check-in at 2 p.m. with an 11 a.m. checkout. Bring insect repellent for mosquitoes in the warmer months, plan for large day-to-night temperature swings, and note that Willard Bay does not refund for changing water levels, fire bans, weather, or bugs, though full refunds are issued for sudden closures.
