RV camping near Richmond, Utah
Richmond sits in Cache Valley in far northern Utah, just south of the Idaho line and about 22 miles north of Logan on the US-91 Pioneer Scenic Byway. The town works well as a base for RV travelers heading into the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, the Bear River Range, and the reservoirs and hot springs that dot the surrounding valley.
Options close to town run from full-hookup private parks to a state park campground on a reservoir. Cub River Lodge Guest Ranch and RV Park sits in Cub River Canyon, and Belmont Hot Springs RV Park and Resort is a year-round campground about 21 miles from Logan. Traveland RV Park offers full-hookup sites in the valley, and Bear River Hot Springs adds pools and lodging just north over the Idaho line near Preston.
For a reservoir setting, Hyrum State Park lies within the town of Hyrum, eight miles southwest of Logan on Highway U-165, about a half hour south of Richmond, with a lakeside campground and modern facilities.
Things to do around Richmond
Water is the main draw in warm months. Hyrum State Park is a year-round fishing destination for bass, trout, perch, and bluegill, and in summer the park is an excellent place for a variety of water sports. It also makes a great base for hikers, bikers, and rock climbers thanks to close proximity to Logan and Blacksmith Fork canyons.
Hot springs are a signature local activity. Belmont Hot Springs RV Park and Resort has two hot springs pools at roughly 97 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit, along with showers and full hookup RV sites, and Bear River Hot Springs offers multiple mineral pools plus a large swimming pool, water slides in summer, and a shallow area for young kids.
Cub River Lodge Guest Ranch and RV Park puts guests close to ATV, hiking, biking, horse, and snowmobile trails in the surrounding national forest, with Cherry Peak and Beaver Mountain ski areas nearby in winter.

Richmond has a humid continental climate with very large seasonal temperature contrasts. Summers are hot, while winters are cold and bring very significant snowfall. Precipitation is moderate overall, with a strong pattern of wetter springs and drier summers, and moisture is relatively even through the year, often as snow in cooler months.
Late May through September is the practical RV window for most travelers. June and September generally offer the most comfortable weather, and the Hyrum Reservoir campground fills quickly on summer weekends and holidays, so booking well ahead is wise. Wildfire smoke from regional fires can occasionally affect air quality in late summer.
Winter shifts the mix. Many amenities scale back, but the Cub River Canyon area draws snowmobilers and cross-country skiers, with groomed trails in the national forest and nearby lift-served skiing at Cherry Peak and Beaver Mountain. Belmont Hot Springs stays open as a year-round campground, which makes cold-weather stays workable for RVers who want to combine snow trips with a hot soak.

How to book Richmond area campgrounds
Hyrum State Park campsites are reserved through the Utah State Parks system, either online at stateparks.utah.gov or by calling 800-322-3770, Monday through Friday. Individual campsite reservations may be made up to four months in advance and no fewer than two days before the desired arrival date. Individual site cancellations made four or more days in advance of arrival incur an $8 cancellation fee in addition to the $8 reservation fee, and cancellations made less than four days in advance forfeit one night's fee. Summer weekends often sell out, so book as early as the window allows.
Private parks handle their own bookings. Cub River Lodge Guest Ranch and RV Park, Traveland RV Park, Belmont Hot Springs RV Park and Resort, and Bear River Hot Springs each take reservations directly by phone or through their websites.
What to expect on site
Sites in this area range from tight canyon settings to open reservoir shorelines. Cub River Lodge Guest Ranch and RV Park offers a small number of full-hookup and dry sites with 15, 20, 30, and 50 amp service and back-in sites that can accommodate larger rigs; indoor restrooms and showers are typically available when the on-site lodges are not rented.
Belmont Hot Springs RV Park and Resort has full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, water, and sewer, and sites are angled for easy in and out. Bear River Hot Springs offers a mix of RV sites and tent sites with restrooms, showers, and a dump station.
Hyrum State Park allows only one camping unit and one tent per campsite with eight people maximum, and gates close at 10 p.m., so plan arrivals accordingly.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Richmond, UT
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Richmond, UT?
RV rental in Richmond, UT is one of the most affordable ways to explore Cache Valley and northern Utah. Travel trailers typically start around $95 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run $175 to $275, and luxury Class A rigs can reach $300 plus. Because Richmond sits just 15 minutes north of Logan and 25 minutes from Bear Lake, you can keep daily mileage low and save on fuel too. For a cheap RV rental in Richmond, book midweek, target May or September shoulder dates, and use the price filter to sort listings. Pro tip: many Cache Valley hosts offer weekly discounts of 10 to 20 percent, so a 7-night booking often beats five nights at standard rates.
utah.com/destinations/cities-towns/logan/What license do I need to rent an RV in Richmond, Utah?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Richmond, Utah. Utah does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or special endorsement for personal RVs under 26,000 pounds, which covers virtually every camper van, travel trailer, Class B, and Class C on the RVezy marketplace. Approved renters on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP). Most first-time renters in Cache Valley are surprised how easy the licensing piece is, then they're off to Logan Canyon within an hour of pickup.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental in Richmond protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RV rental in Richmond, UT booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built into the booking. The protection plan helps cover damage to the RV so you can drive into Logan Canyon or up to Bear Lake with peace of mind. During checkout you choose your protection level based on how much coverage you want; this is set at the platform level, not by individual hosts. Pro tip: review each tier carefully on the booking page and pick the one that lets you relax around the campfire at Tony Grove Lake.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Richmond RV trip plans change?
Booking your Richmond RV trip is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not the host), and every booking includes a grace period shortly after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. After that window, refund amounts depend on how far out from your trip start you cancel. Because the policy is handled at the platform level, you won't see it displayed on the listing itself. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds you or provides credits. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best Richmond inventory, then finalize Bear Lake campground reservations once your dates are firm.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Richmond?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Richmond is easy to find on RVezy. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see Cache Valley hosts who welcome dogs (some allow cats and other pets too, just message to confirm). Many hosts charge a pet cleaning fee, which is shown upfront before you book. Once you're on the road, your pup will love the off-leash romps at Logan's Willow Park, the dog-friendly paths along the Logan River Trail, and most US Forest Service campgrounds in Logan Canyon, which allow leashed pets. Pro tip: Bear Lake State Park restricts dogs in designated swim areas, so head to Rendezvous Beach's pet-friendly section instead for a happy lake day.
stateparks.utah.gov/parks/bear-lake/Can the RV be delivered to my campsite near Richmond?
Yes, RV delivery in Richmond is one of the smartest moves for first-timers. Many Cache Valley hosts deliver and set up the motorhome or travel trailer directly at your campsite, whether that's Smithfield Canyon, Hyrum State Park, or a Logan Canyon Forest Service site like Lodge Campground or Guinavah-Malibu. The host levels the rig, hooks up power and water, lowers the awning, and walks you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery fees vary based on distance, and most hosts list a per-mile rate or flat fee on their listing. Pro tip: filter by "Delivery" on RVezy and message two or three hosts with your campground name to compare quotes quickly.
stateparks.utah.gov/parks/hyrum/How far can I drive on a Richmond RV trip, and how does mileage work?
You've got plenty of room to roam on a Richmond RV trip. Most Cache Valley hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and several offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for a bigger loop. From Richmond you can reach Logan in 15 minutes (15 miles), Bear Lake in about 1 hour (45 miles via Logan Canyon), Salt Lake City in about 1.5 hours (90 miles), Jackson, Wyoming in roughly 3.5 hours (170 miles), and Yellowstone's West Entrance in about 4.5 hours (240 miles). Extra miles typically run $0.30 to $0.50 each if you go over. Pro tip: sort by unlimited mileage if Yellowstone or Grand Teton is on your itinerary; the savings add up fast.
nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/directions.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Richmond, UT?
You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Richmond. A few favorites: Bear Lake State Park's Rendezvous Beach Campground offers full hookups right on the famously turquoise lake; Hyrum State Park has lakeside sites just 30 minutes south with electric hookups and a swim beach; Smithfield Canyon Dispersed Camping is free and just 10 minutes away in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest; Guinavah-Malibu in Logan Canyon sits along the Logan River with shaded sites; and Traveland RV Park in Logan offers full hookups, laundry, and Wi-Fi if you want a more polished base. Pro tip: Rendezvous Beach books out by February for July weekends, so reserve early or aim for a Sunday-to-Thursday stay.
stateparks.utah.gov/parks/bear-lake/When is the best time to visit Richmond, Utah in an RV?
Late May through early October is prime time for an RV trip in Richmond, with June and September being the sweet spots. Cache Valley summers are warm and dry, with daytime highs of 80 to 92 degrees Fahrenheit in July and August and cool nights dropping into the 50s, perfect for sleeping with the windows cracked. June brings wildflowers to Tony Grove Lake at 8,100 feet, while late September lights up Logan Canyon with golden aspens. Winters are snowy and cold (highs in the 30s, lows in the teens), so most campgrounds close from November through April. Pro tip: aim for the third weekend in September for peak fall color and zero summer crowds on the Logan Canyon Scenic Byway.
weather.gov/slc/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in Cache Valley?
You're going to be just fine, even if it's your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host gives you a thorough walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, slide-outs, and tank dumping, and many record a quick video you can rewatch later. Cache Valley is one of Utah's friendliest places to learn: US-91 and US-89 are wide, well-maintained, mostly flat through the valley, and traffic is light compared to the Wasatch Front. Logan Canyon Scenic Byway has some curves but no truly steep grades until you crest the summit at 7,800 feet. Pro tip: practice a few turns and one back-up in an empty parking lot in Richmond before heading out, and you'll feel confident within 30 minutes.
udot.utah.gov/connect/What happens if I have a breakdown or issue during my Richmond RV trip?
You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and mechanical issues are one phone call away, whether you're parked in Richmond or boondocking up Franklin Basin Road. RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip, and your host is usually just a message away too, often able to troubleshoot something simple like a tripped breaker in minutes. Pro tip: cell service is spotty in upper Logan Canyon and around Tony Grove Lake, so screenshot the roadside number and download offline Google Maps before you leave the valley.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trips from Richmond, UT?
An RV road trip from Richmond opens up some of the West's most spectacular drives. Top routes: the Logan Canyon Scenic Byway loop to Bear Lake (90 miles round trip, half day); Richmond to Jackson, Wyoming and Grand Teton National Park via Star Valley (3 hours, 160 miles); a Yellowstone loop through West Yellowstone (4 hours, 230 miles); the Mighty 5 southern Utah route hitting Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce, and Zion (start with 5 hours to Moab); and Lava Hot Springs, Idaho for a soak-and-camp weekend (1 hour, 55 miles). Cross-border travel into Idaho and Wyoming is straightforward; Mexico travel isn't permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: confirm cross-state plans with your host in the message thread before booking.
nps.gov/grte/planyourvisit/directions.htmWhat should I budget for fuel on a Richmond RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second-biggest line item after the rental itself, but it's predictable. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 miles per gallon (mpg), Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (typically 10 to 14 mpg). Utah gas prices in the Logan/Richmond area tend to run a bit below the state average, with diesel slightly higher. For a typical 4-day Cache Valley loop covering 300 miles in a Class C, expect roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at the Maverik or Lee's Marketplace in Smithfield before heading into Logan Canyon, since prices climb noticeably once you reach Bear Lake and Garden City.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book campgrounds near Richmond?
For peak summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day), book Cache Valley campgrounds 4 to 6 months ahead, especially Bear Lake State Park and Hyrum State Park. Utah State Park sites are reserved through the Utah State Parks reservation system, and US Forest Service sites in Logan Canyon (Guinavah-Malibu, Lodge, Wood Camp, Tony Grove) use Recreation.gov on a 6-month rolling window. Private parks in Logan and Garden City take direct reservations and often have midweek openings even in July. Pro tip: dispersed camping in Green Canyon and Franklin Basin requires no reservation and is free, a great Plan B if you get a late start planning your Richmond getaway.
recreation.gov/What are the driving conditions like around Richmond?
Driving in and around Richmond is mostly relaxed, which makes it a great launchpad for an RV trip. US-91 through Cache Valley is flat, four-lane, and easy to handle even for a 30-foot Class C. The fun starts when you head east on US-89 through Logan Canyon, a 41-mile National Scenic Byway with gentle curves, a few 6 percent grades, and a summit at 7,800 feet near Bear Lake; just take it slow on descents and use lower gears. Watch for deer and moose at dawn and dusk year-round. In winter, Logan Canyon can require chains or AWD after storms. Pro tip: check UDOT's live traffic cameras on the US-89 mileposts 470 to 490 before heading over the summit to Garden City.
udottraffic.utah.gov/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Richmond?
Cache Valley campgrounds run the full range so you can match the experience you want. Bear Lake State Park and Hyrum State Park offer electric and water hookups, hot showers, flush toilets, and dump stations. Logan Canyon Forest Service campgrounds (Guinavah-Malibu, Wood Camp, Lodge) typically have vault toilets, potable water spigots, picnic tables, and fire rings but no hookups, perfect for dry camping with a generator window. For full hookups including 50-amp service, sewer, Wi-Fi, and laundry, head to Traveland RV Park or Riverside RV Park in Logan. Public dump stations are available at Hyrum State Park and the Logan Maverik on Main Street. Pro tip: fill fresh water before climbing Logan Canyon since canyon spigots shut off after the first hard frost in October.
stateparks.utah.gov/parks/hyrum/What's actually inside a motorhome rental in Richmond?
A motorhome rental in Richmond comes ready to live in from minute one. Expect a queen or king bed plus convertible dinette and sofa beds (most rigs sleep 4 to 8), a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, three-burner stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, plus a bathroom with toilet, sink, and shower. Heat and air conditioning are standard, and most listings include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor speakers, and an awning. Many hosts include linens, towels, camp chairs, and a starter kit of paper goods. Generators, solar, and Wi-Fi hotspots are common add-ons. Seatbelts match the listed sleeping capacity. Pro tip: scroll the listing's amenities checklist and photo gallery carefully, and message the host if you need something specific like a CPAP inverter or kid's booster.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons can I get with my Richmond RV rental?
RVezy hosts in Richmond offer a generous menu of add-ons to make your trip easier. Common options include camp chairs and table sets ($15 to $30/trip), outdoor grills ($20 to $40), bedding and linen packages ($25 to $50), kayaks and stand-up paddleboards perfect for Bear Lake ($40 to $75/day), bike racks, generators, Wi-Fi hotspots, and even pre-stocked kitchen kits. Pickup is typically at the host's Richmond or Logan address between 1 and 4 pm, with returns by 11 am, though many hosts flex these times for free. Mileage policies (per-night allowances or unlimited) and pet fees are clearly listed. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus setup plus a paddleboard rental in one message and you'll often get a small package discount.
utah.gov/residents/recreation.htmlHow do payment and the security deposit work for RV rentals in Richmond?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card at the time of booking, and the host doesn't see your card details. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV's value) and released after the trip once the host confirms the rig came back in good condition with no new damage, tanks properly handled, and within mileage and generator hours included. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkthrough at pickup, take date-stamped photos and a quick video inside and out, and follow the host's checklist for return. Pro tip: dump and refill tanks at Hyrum State Park on your way back to Richmond to skip cleaning fees.
