Campgrounds and RV parks near West Wood, UT

Nine Mile Canyon is the marquee attraction, with thousands of petroglyphs and pictographs viewable from the canyon road. Nine Mile Ranch serves as a base for self-guided touring and ride-along experiences on a working ranch, and the canyon is also popular for ATV and mountain-bike trips. Huntington State Park is the main water destination in the area, with a boat launch, swim beach, and fishing for rainbow trout, largemouth bass, bluegill, catfish, and crawdads. The Outback Nature Trail is a 2.7-mile gravel loop around the reservoir suited to easy family walks. From West Wood, day trips reach the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry, the Wedge Overlook above the San Rafael River, and Buckhorn Wash rock-art panels. Manti-La Sal forest roads west of town open cooler high-country options in summer.

The Price area has a cold desert climate with warm, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. Peak RV season runs from late spring through early fall, when reservoir levels, canyon roads, and higher-elevation forest routes are all reliably open. Summer highs typically reach the mid-80s Fahrenheit, and afternoon thunderstorms in July and August can make Nine Mile Canyon and San Rafael Swell dirt roads temporarily impassable when wet, since travel in the Swell is on improved dirt BLM roads. Spring and fall are shoulder seasons with cooler nights and lower demand, but reservoir water sports taper off after September. Fall brings strong light for canyon photography along with the season's first cold snaps. Huntington State Park's campground is open year-round, though winter service is reduced and cold winter conditions are common from November through February. Private RV parks near Price generally operate year-round, while Nine Mile Ranch's season is weather-dependent, with limited access during heavy snowmelt or winter storms.

Expect a mix of high-desert and canyon terrain, with dry air, strong sun, and cool nights even in summer. Grades on U.S. Route 6 through Price Canyon can be steep for larger rigs, so plan fuel stops accordingly. Hookup availability varies. Huntington State Park's campground has no RV hookups but provides restrooms, hot showers, covered tables, and a sewage dump station. Nine Mile Ranch also has no RV hookups, though it provides potable spring-water faucets, showers, and a dump site. Cell coverage drops off quickly outside Price and Huntington, and there is no service at Nine Mile Ranch.
