Campgrounds near Bridgeport, Washington
Bridgeport sits in north-central Washington on the Columbia River, just below Chief Joseph Dam, in a high-desert pocket of Douglas and Okanogan counties. The town serves as a practical base for RV travelers exploring the Columbia Plateau, the lower Methow Valley, and the orchard country around Brewster and Pateros. Most nearby campgrounds combine reservoir or lake access with open, sun-exposed sites, so shade and water hookups matter when planning a stay.
The closest developed option is Bridgeport State Park Campground, a Washington State Parks site on Rufus Woods Lake with a mix of standard and partial-hookup sites on a large lawn behind Chief Joseph Dam. A short drive west, Alta Lake State Park near Pateros offers lakeside camping where mountainous pine forest meets desert. Jameson Lake Resort, reached through Mansfield to the south, adds a private lakeside option focused on trout fishing.
Further out, the Department of Natural Resources manages primitive sites at Leader Lake in the Loup Loup State Forest, and operates Black Canyon Sno-Park for winter access into the Chelan Ridge snowmobile trail system.
Things to do near Bridgeport
Water recreation drives most trips. Bridgeport State Park Campground has two boat ramps, roughly 240 feet of dock, and a sandy swim area on Rufus Woods Lake, with a paved bike path leading to Chief Joseph Dam. Alta Lake State Park is built around a two-mile lake known for trout fishing, water skiing, swimming, and windsurfing in summer, with a steep hiking trail above the campground and an adjacent golf course.
Anglers also target Jameson Lake Resort and Leader Lake, both stocked with rainbow trout and open to motorized and non-motorized boating. Leader Lake adds warm-water species like bass, bluegill, crappie, and yellow perch.
In winter, Black Canyon Sno-Park accesses about 100 miles of groomed snowmobile trails reaching Chelan Ridge, Parrish Peak, Cooper Mountain, and surrounding peaks.

Bridgeport State Park Campground operates year-round, but the high-desert climate shapes the season. Summers are hot, dry, and sunny, with July highs frequently in the upper 80s to 90s Fahrenheit, making early-morning setup and shade structures useful. Spring and fall bring mild days, wildflowers, and quieter sites, while winter is cold, with snow possible from November through March.
Alta Lake State Park follows a tighter window, opening for the April through October camping season and closing for the winter. The on-site concession runs weekends in April and May and daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Jameson Lake Resort runs a spring-through-fall season tied to the trout opener, typically starting in late April.
Leader Lake stays open year-round but is primitive and quiet outside fishing season. Black Canyon Sno-Park requires a Washington State Sno-Park Permit through the winter season, when the access road is plowed for snowmobile and snowshoe use.
How to book campgrounds near Bridgeport
Washington State Parks sites, including Bridgeport State Park Campground and Alta Lake State Park, are reserved through the Washington State Parks reservation system online or by phone, with a booking window of up to nine months ahead. Summer weekends and holidays at both parks fill early, so reserve as soon as the window opens for the desired dates. All vehicles parked at state parks for day use require a Discover Pass.
Jameson Lake Resort takes direct bookings for its lakeside RV sites, tent sites, and cabin through its website or by phone. Leader Lake Campground is first-come, first-served and covered by the Discover Pass, with no nightly fee on top.
Black Canyon Sno-Park is a day-use trailhead, not a reservable campground, and requires a Sno-Park permit during the winter season.
What to expect at Bridgeport campgrounds
Expect open, sun-exposed sites and a high-desert feel. Bridgeport State Park Campground sits on 18 acres of lawn behind Chief Joseph Dam, with 34 sites total, including 20 partial-hookup sites with water and electric and 14 tent sites, plus a dump station, showers, and flush toilets. Cell service is generally usable. Alta Lake State Park has roughly 115 sites with about 32 full-hookup spots, accommodating RVs up to about 38 feet, with showers and a dump station.
Jameson Lake Resort offers lakeside RV sites with water and electric, tent sites, and a cabin, with no sewer hookups on individual sites. Leader Lake is primitive: vault toilets, fire rings, no hookups, and access roads better suited to smaller rigs.
Wildfire history is visible across the region, and summer burn bans are common.

Many Bridgeport hosts offer 10% to 20% off for week-long stays, perfect for exploring Lake Pateros and the Columbia River.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bridgeport,%20WashingtonWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Bridgeport, WA?

Washington State does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for any RV available on RVezy, no matter the size. You'll need to be 25 or older and upload a valid driver's license, which RVezy verifies through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Once your ID is confirmed, your host will provide a full walkthrough at pickup, so even first-time renters will be ready to roll toward the Columbia River.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Bridgeport RV rental?
Booking with confidence is the whole point. RVezy applies a standard cancellation policy across all bookings (hosts don't set their own), which includes a money-back grace period right after you book so you're never locked in instantly. After that, refund eligibility depends on how far out from your trip you cancel. If plans shift, contact RVezy support through your trip dashboard and they'll walk you through your options. The full details are on the RVezy Help Center, so review them before booking and then lock in your Bridgeport RV trip with confidence.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Bridgeport, WA RV rental?
Absolutely, your dog is welcome on plenty of Bridgeport adventures. To find a pet-friendly RV rental in Bridgeport, toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see hosts who specifically welcome four-legged guests. Once you're on the road, Bridgeport State Park allows leashed pets in the campground and on most trails, with clearly posted rules around the swimming beach area. Pearrygin Lake State Park (about 90 minutes northwest) and Alta Lake State Park (30 minutes south) are also dog-friendly. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees (often $25 to $75 per trip) and bring a long lead so your dog can lounge outside the RV at camp.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/bridgeport-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Bridgeport?
Yes, and it's the easiest way to start your trip. Many Bridgeport-area hosts offer RV delivery in Bridgeport, meaning they'll tow or drive the RV directly to Bridgeport State Park, Marina Park, or a private property and set everything up for you. They'll level the rig, hook up water and power, and walk you through the systems so you don't lift a finger. To find these listings, filter for Delivery on RVezy and check the host's delivery radius (most cover a 30 to 60 mile range from their home base). Delivery fees typically run $2 to $4 per mile round trip. This option is gold for first-timers who'd rather skip towing a trailer down Highway 173.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bridgeport,%20WashingtonHow does mileage work and how far can I drive from Bridgeport?
You've got room to roam. Bridgeport hosts set their own mileage policies, with most offering 100 to 150 free miles per night and some listings offering RV rentals with unlimited mileage, perfect for longer Washington loops. Extra miles typically run $0.30 to $0.50 each. From Bridgeport, popular drives include Lake Chelan (about 50 miles southwest), Grand Coulee Dam (35 miles east), Winthrop and the Methow Valley (75 miles northwest), Leavenworth (95 miles southwest), and North Cascades National Park (about 120 miles west). Even Spokane is reachable at roughly 160 miles east. Pro tip: if you're planning a multi-stop RV road trip from Bridgeport, filter listings by mileage allowance first and message hosts about custom mileage packages, they're often happy to bundle.
wsdot.wa.gov/travel/real-time/mapWhere are the best campgrounds near Bridgeport, WA?
You're spoiled for choice on the Columbia. The best campgrounds near Bridgeport start with Bridgeport State Park itself, with full hookup sites near Rufus Woods Lake plus a swimming beach and shaded lawns. Marina Park in town has riverside sites and walking access to local restaurants. About 30 minutes south, Alta Lake State Park offers over 120 sites tucked into ponderosa pines. Head 50 minutes upriver and you'll find Steamboat Rock State Park on Banks Lake, one of Washington's most dramatic settings with full hookups and red-rock cliffs. For something quieter, Spring Canyon Campground near Grand Coulee Dam has lake-view sites. Book Washington State Parks sites through the official reservation system up to nine months ahead.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/bridgeport-state-parkWhen is the best time to plan an RV trip to Bridgeport, WA?
Bridgeport's high-desert climate makes for a longer season than people expect. The sweet spot is late April through mid-October, with daytime highs averaging 65F to 75F in spring and fall and climbing into the 85F to 95F range in July and August. Summer nights cool to a comfortable 55F to 65F, perfect for campfires at Bridgeport State Park. Winters are cold (often 20F to 35F) with occasional snow, so most RV camping in Bridgeport happens between April and October. Insider tip: early June is magical, the apple orchards along Highway 97 are in full leaf, the Columbia is brimming, and campgrounds aren't yet booked solid. Late September brings golden cottonwoods and far fewer mosquitoes.
weather.gov/otx/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Bridgeport?
You'll do great, and Bridgeport is one of the easier places in Washington to learn. Roads around town are wide, traffic is light, and Highway 17 and Highway 173 have generous shoulders and gentle grades along the Columbia River. Every RVezy host provides a full pickup walkthrough covering driving, leveling, hookups, tanks, and propane, so you're never guessing. First time renting an RV? Start with a smaller travel trailer or Class C motorhome rental in Bridgeport for easier handling. Plan your first drive during daylight, avoid Highway 97A's tighter curves north of Pateros until you're comfortable, and remember your host is just a text away. Most renters say day two feels totally natural.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002193394-RentersWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV on my trip?
You're never stranded. Every RV rental in Bridgeport includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the RVezy protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and fuel delivery anywhere in north-central Washington. If a tire blows on Highway 17 near Mansfield or you need a jump at Bridgeport State Park, one call gets help dispatched. For RV-specific questions like a finicky water heater or slide-out, your host is your first call: they know their rig best and most respond within minutes. RVezy support is also available around the clock for anything bigger. Pro tip: save the roadside number and your host's contact in your phone before leaving town, cell service can get patchy near the Cascades.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Bridgeport RV rental into Canada?
Often yes, and Bridgeport's location makes it tempting since the Canadian border is about 75 miles north via Highway 97 to Oroville and the Osoyoos crossing. Cross-border travel depends on the individual host and their insurance, so message them through the listing before booking to confirm it's allowed and get any paperwork you'll need (typically a signed letter of permission). Travel to Mexico isn't permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance doesn't extend there. Popular Canadian routes from Bridgeport include the Okanagan Valley wine country and Kelowna (about 3 hours from the border). Bring your passport, declare all food and firewood at customs, and you're set for an international RV road trip from Bridgeport.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat should I budget for fuel on a Bridgeport RV trip?
Fuel is one of your biggest variables, but easy to plan around. Travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves, your tow vehicle does, while Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG and Class A rigs run 6 to 10 MPG. Gas in Bridgeport and nearby Brewster typically runs slightly above the Washington average, so top off in larger towns like Wenatchee or Omak when possible. For a 4-day, 400-mile loop from Bridgeport to Lake Chelan and back in a Class C, plan on roughly $180 to $260 in fuel. Diesel rigs go further per gallon but cost more per fill. Pro tip: use a fuel-price app and fill up in Brewster (about 5 miles west) where prices are often a few cents cheaper than in-town stations.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Bridgeport?
Earlier is better, but you've still got options. For summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day), book Bridgeport State Park, Alta Lake, and Steamboat Rock through the Washington State Parks reservation system as soon as the 9-month window opens, since full-hookup sites go fast. Shoulder season (May, September, October) is much more relaxed; 2 to 4 weeks ahead usually works. Federal sites like Spring Canyon near Grand Coulee Dam are booked through Recreation.gov, also up to 6 months ahead. Insider tip: if you strike out on a Friday night at Bridgeport State Park, check the reservation site Monday morning, cancellations release back into inventory and locals snap them up fast. Marina Park in town is first-come, first-served on some sites.
washington.goingtocamp.com/What are the driving conditions like around Bridgeport, WA?
You'll find some of Washington's most relaxing RV driving right here. Bridgeport sits in open high-desert terrain along the Columbia, so Highway 17, Highway 173, and Highway 97 feature wide lanes, long sightlines, and minimal traffic compared to the I-5 corridor. Watch for crosswinds on the bridges over the Columbia, especially in spring, and slow down for deer near dawn and dusk on rural stretches toward Mansfield and Bridgeport Hill. If you head west to North Cascades National Park, Highway 20 has steep grades and tight curves that close in winter, so check WSDOT pass reports before going. Pro tip: avoid driving Highway 97A north of Pateros after dark; it hugs the river with limited shoulders and is far prettier in daylight anyway.
wsdot.wa.gov/travel/real-time/mountain-passesWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Bridgeport?
You'll be comfortable. Most campgrounds near Bridgeport offer full or partial hookups (water, 30/50 amp electric, and sewer), flush toilets, hot showers, and potable water fill stations. Bridgeport State Park has full-hookup sites, a dump station, and a swimming beach, with a small camp store nearby in town. Alta Lake and Steamboat Rock State Parks both have dump stations and shower facilities. If you're boondocking or staying somewhere without sewer, the dump station at Bridgeport State Park is open seasonally and there's another at Brewster's city park about 5 miles west. Pro tip: fill your fresh water tank before leaving the host's place or at a state park entrance, some smaller spots between Bridgeport and Grand Coulee don't have potable water on site.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/bridgeport-state-parkWhat features and amenities should I expect inside a Bridgeport RV rental?
You'll feel right at home. A typical motorhome rental in Bridgeport or travel trailer on RVezy comes fully equipped: a real bed (often a queen), kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, dinette seating, climate control, and seatbelts for every traveler. Most rigs also include a TV, propane heat, hot water, and outdoor awnings. Wi-Fi isn't always built in (cell service is decent in Bridgeport but spotty toward the Cascades), so consider a mobile hotspot. Generators are common on Class A and C motorhomes for off-grid use. Each listing on RVezy shows exactly what's included with photos, so a family RV trip in Bridgeport can be matched perfectly to your group size and comfort needs.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bridgeport,%20WashingtonWhat add-ons and pickup options do Bridgeport hosts offer?
Plenty, and they make life easy. Common add-ons for a campervan rental in Bridgeport or larger motorhome include linen and bedding packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits ($25 to $50), camping chairs and outdoor rugs, bike racks, generators, propane refills, and even pre-stocked groceries from some hosts. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Bridgeport, Brewster, or Pateros, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough covering everything you need. Many hosts also offer delivery to Bridgeport State Park or your driveway, plus late-return or early-pickup flexibility for a small fee. Pro tip: ask about a generator add-on if you're heading anywhere without hookups around Banks Lake or the Methow, it'll save you from a dead house battery on night two.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bridgeport,%20WashingtonHow do payments and the security deposit work?
It's straightforward and secure. When you book an RV rental in Bridgeport on RVezy, payment is processed through the platform, never in cash to the host. You'll pay a deposit at booking and the balance before your trip start date, all by credit card. A separate security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card a few days before pickup; it's held, not charged, and released after the trip if there's no damage or unusual cleaning needed. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkthrough with your host at pickup and drop-off, take photos of the exterior, interior, and odometer, and return the RV with the agreed fuel and propane levels.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksIs winter RV camping in Bridgeport, WA an option?
It can be, for the adventurous. Bridgeport sits in eastern Washington's high desert, where winter temperatures often drop into the teens and 20s with occasional snow, so most hosts pause bookings between November and March. A few hosts do offer four-season rigs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and reliable furnaces; filter listings and message hosts directly to confirm winter availability. Bridgeport State Park typically closes for camping in winter, but day-use access and nearby Banks Lake stay open year-round for ice fishing and quiet scenery. Pro tip: if you're winter camping in Bridgeport, plan for shore power hookups, carry extra propane, and check WSDOT mountain pass reports if you're driving in from Seattle over Stevens or Blewett Pass.
