Campgrounds and RV parks near Browns Point, WA

Browns Point sits on a small peninsula at the north end of Tacoma, jutting into Commencement Bay on Puget Sound. The neighborhood is residential, so campers stage from a ring of state parks and private RV parks within a 30 to 60 minute drive. Most options are saltwater-oriented, with forested sites near beaches, tidepools, and ferry routes. The closest overnight option is Dash Point State Park, just a few minutes north along the shoreline in Federal Way. Saltwater State Park lies a short drive up the coast in Des Moines, though its campground is currently closed for camping. Manchester State Park sits across Puget Sound on the Kitsap Peninsula near Port Orchard, reachable by bridge or by ferry from Point Defiance. For full hookups and bigger rigs, Majestic Manor RV Park in Puyallup and Gig Harbor RV Resort on the west side of the Tacoma Narrows are the standard picks. Most state-park sites are forested rather than waterfront, with the beach a short walk away. Reservations through Washington State Parks are essential on summer weekends.

Washington State Parks uses a single reservation system covering Dash Point and Manchester. Bookings open up to nine months in advance through the washington.goingtocamp.com portal or by phone at 888-CAMPOUT. Summer weekends at Dash Point and Manchester are typically claimed quickly once the booking window opens, so set a calendar reminder. Manchester accepts reservations from April 1 through October 31 and switches to first-come, first-served outside that window. Saltwater State Park is not currently accepting camping reservations while the campground is closed. A Discover Pass is required for day-use vehicle access at all Washington state parks, though registered campers are covered for the length of their stay. Private parks book directly. Majestic Manor RV Park in Puyallup and Gig Harbor RV Resort take reservations through their own websites and are useful fallbacks when state-park inventory is sold out.
