Camping near Connell, Washington
Connell sits on U.S. Route 395 in Franklin County, about 30 miles north of the Tri-Cities in the semi-arid Columbia Plateau of eastern Washington. RV travelers use it as a quiet stopover between Spokane and Pasco, and as a base for the reservoirs, wildlife refuges, and Snake River recreation that surround the area.
Options close to town are compact and RV-focused. Coyote Run RV Park sits right in Connell with pull-through sites, laundry, and easy highway access for big rigs. Sage Hills Golf Club and RV Resort adds a golf course on site. A short drive west into Grant County opens up water-oriented resorts, including Warden Lake RV Resort and MarDon RV resort on the shore of Potholes Reservoir.
For travelers heading toward the Tri-Cities for wineries, rivers, or events, Pasco / Tri-Cities KOA Journey is the nearest full-service KOA. Public campgrounds at Potholes State Park and Columbia National Wildlife Refuge round out the region.
Things to do around Connell
Water recreation drives most trips. Potholes Reservoir offers year-round fishing for yellow perch, crappie, largemouth bass, rainbow trout, and walleye, plus waterskiing, paddle boarding, and kayaking in summer. MarDon RV resort provides direct beach and boat-launch access on the same reservoir, and Warden Lake RV Resort adds a smaller, quieter fishing lake nearby.
Birders head to the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge for sandhill cranes, raptors, and shorebirds on the seasonal mudflats. Palouse Falls State Park, roughly an hour east, is Washington's official state waterfall and a popular day trip.
Closer in, families use Sage Hills Golf Club and RV Resort for a round of golf, and the Tri-Cities south on US-395 add wineries, the Columbia River waterfront, and Dust Devils minor-league baseball.

The Connell area has a high-desert climate with hot, dry summers and cold winters. Summer is peak RV season: reservoirs are warm, days are long, and skies are usually clear, but afternoon highs often push into the 90s Fahrenheit. Shade is limited at most sites, so awnings and generators for A/C matter.
Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for touring. Bird-watchers should plan their visit from May to September, and anglers will enjoy the tranquility and lake access of the offseason. Wildflowers appear in the coulees in April and May, and September brings cooler nights and lighter crowds.
Winter is quiet. Many private RV parks near Connell stay open year-round for pass-through travelers, but amenities like pools and mini-golf shut down, and overnight lows regularly drop below freezing. Snow accumulates lightly but roads are generally passable.
How to book campgrounds near Connell
Private parks in the area, including Coyote Run RV Park, Sage Hills Golf Club and RV Resort, Warden Lake RV Resort, MarDon RV resort, and Pasco / Tri-Cities KOA Journey, take reservations directly through their websites or by phone. Summer weekends and holidays fill first, so book Potholes-area resorts several weeks ahead for July and August.
For state park sites such as Potholes State Park, reserve a campsite, yurt or cabin, vacation house, group camp or day-use facility at Washington State Parks online or call (888) 226-7688. A Discover Pass is required for parking at Washington State Parks and recreation lands managed by WDFW and DNR, though overnight campers do not need a Discover Pass to park in the state park where they are staying.
What to expect on the ground
Connell itself is a small agricultural town. Expect a grocery store, fuel, and a handful of restaurants, but plan on driving to Pasco or Moses Lake for larger supply runs, RV service, or medical care. US-395 traffic near Coyote Run RV Park is steady but the park sits in a natural bowl that buffers noise.
Sites in the area tend to be open with limited shade, level, and sized for large rigs. Full hookups are standard at the private resorts listed above; state park and refuge sites are more basic, often with electric and water only or dry camping.
Cell service at Potholes State Park is limited and can be unreliable depending on carrier, so download offline maps before arriving. Summer sun is intense, wind can pick up in the afternoons, and mosquitoes appear near the reservoirs at dusk.
