Campgrounds and RV parks near Medical Lake, WA

The Medical Lake Loop Trail encircles the lake, links several city parks and the downtown core, and is easy enough for kids on bikes. Waterfront Park adds a swimming beach, playground, boat launch, and ball fields on the south shore. West Medical Lake, a lowland lake just west of town, is stocked by WDFW and known for shoreline trout fishing. A short drive puts RVers inside Riverside State Park, where the Bowl and Pitcher area features a historic Civilian Conservation Corps suspension bridge, a large network of trails, whitewater on the Spokane River, and an off-road vehicle area. The Spokane River Centennial Trail runs 40 miles from the Nine Mile Recreation Area east to the Idaho border for road biking. Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge south of Cheney is a popular wildlife-viewing day trip.

Summers are short, warm, and dry, with July and August averaging highs in the low- to mid-80s Fahrenheit and very little rainfall. This is peak camping season across the region, and full-hookup sites at private resorts near Spokane fill quickly on weekends tied to major Spokane events such as Hoopfest and Bloomsday. Book several weeks out for July and August stays. Spring and fall are shoulder seasons with cool nights, changeable weather, and lighter traffic. At Riverside State Park, the Bowl and Pitcher campground operates most sites from April 1 through October 15, with water and dump-station service running roughly mid-April through October 15, while two ADA-compliant cabins remain available year-round. West Medical Lake's fishery is strongest from the spring opener into early summer, and a late brown-trout window at Medical Lake extends into fall. Winters are cold and snowy, with average annual snowfall around 44 inches. Most private parks reduce services in winter, and standard state-park campsites in the area close, though cabins and some year-round resorts remain available for shoulder trips.

Medical Lake sits at about 2,400 feet in open ponderosa pine and prairie country, so expect big skies, warm afternoons, and cool nights even in mid-summer. Private parks in the area typically offer gravel or concrete pads with 30- and 50-amp service, and larger resorts add laundry, showers, and Wi-Fi. Some smaller lakeside parks are better suited to shorter trailers than to 40-foot rigs, so confirm site length when booking. Cell coverage is generally solid near town and along I-90 but drops off on backroads and inside Riverside State Park canyons. Aircraft from Fairchild Air Force Base and Spokane International Airport are audible at some parks. Summer burn bans are common across Spokane County, so pack a propane fire pit as a backup and check current fire restrictions before arrival.
