Campgrounds and RV parks near Rosedale, WA

Puget Sound access defines most trips. The Gig Harbor area offers easy access to saltwater for boating, fishing, kayaking, and paddling, and nearby state parks add trails, beaches, and history to the mix. Penrose Point is a forested marine and camping park with 2 miles of trails and saltwater frontage on Mayo Cove and Carr Inlet, with a dock, moorage buoys, and walking paths. Across the water on the Kitsap Peninsula, Manchester State Park has wooded hiking trails and over 3,400 feet of saltwater shoreline, plus the historic torpedo warehouse and former coastal artillery structures. To the east, Dash Point offers forested trails through second-growth timber, connections to the adjacent King County trail system, and a wide sandy beach that draws families at low tide.

Summer is the clear peak. The Gig Harbor area has distinct dry summers from June through August and wet winters from November through January, and campsites at the closest state parks book out fastest from late June through Labor Day. Washington State Parks campsites are reservable year round up to 9 months in advance, which sets the rhythm for planning around the Rosedale area. Shoulder seasons trade crowds for weather risk. Spring and early fall bring cooler nights and quick-moving rain, but trails and beaches are much quieter. Weekday sites open up easily outside the peak window, and reservations for popular waterfront loops become far easier to secure. Winter camping is possible but bare-bones. State parks in the area stay open year-round for day use, though some loops and showers close seasonally, and heavy rain is common from November through January.

State park sites in this area are wooded and often lack full hookups. Penrose Point offers standard campsites, a hiker/biker site, a Cascadia Marine Trail site, a dump station, and restrooms. The campground is set back in the woods with shady or partly shady sites, none directly on the water, but the beach is a short walk away. Typical sites accommodate rigs up to about 35 feet, with a few longer, and the campground roads are narrow and winding. Dash Point runs larger and better wired for some RVs, with cabins plus standard and utility sites, and it accommodates rigs of about 32 feet or less. Manchester State Park has 35 standard campsites, 15 partial-hookup sites, and two restrooms and showers, with a maximum site length around 60 feet on limited sites, and a dump station near the entrance. Expect coin-operated showers, spotty cell service under the tree canopy, and cool damp evenings even in July. Gig Harbor RV Resort is the closest option for full hookups and paved pads.
