Sunnyslope camping overview
Sunnyslope sits at the north edge of Wenatchee in Chelan County, where the Wenatchee River meets the Columbia. The neighborhood borders Wenatchee Confluence State Park, a year-round camping park at the confluence of the Wenatchee and Columbia rivers. The park has a dual character: the north section is recreational with sports fields and a swimming beach, while the south section is the Horan Natural Area, a designated wetland natural area reached by a pedestrian bridge over the Wenatchee River.
For RV travelers, the area combines full-hookup state-park camping, fairgrounds-style overflow, and primitive winter sno-park access within a short drive. Lincoln Rock State Park, north of town on Lake Entiat above Rocky Reach Dam, offers grassy RV sites, cabins, and a year-round boat launch. The Chelan County Expo Center in nearby Cashmere hosts events and provides additional RV parking during fairs and shows. Higher elevations south and north of town host Lily Lake Sno-Park - Department of Natural Resources and Mad River Sno-Park - Department of Natural Resources for winter use.
Things to do near Sunnyslope
Cycling is a defining activity here. The Apple Capital Loop Trail is a 10-mile mixed-use path, the longest loop trail in Washington, and runs through Wenatchee Confluence State Park with crossings over the Columbia River. The paved Rocky Reach Trail extends north and connects to Lincoln Rock State Park.
On the water, the Columbia River and Lake Entiat support swimming, fishing, paddling, and waterskiing. Lincoln Rock State Park has 5 docks with 4 marina slips per dock along the shoreline of the standard campground loop, and slips are only reservable from May 15 to October 15 by campers with a camping reservation.
In winter, Lily Lake Sno-Park - Department of Natural Resources and Mad River Sno-Park - Department of Natural Resources open backcountry access for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing on groomed and ungroomed routes.

The Wenatchee Valley has a long, dry summer and a cold, snowy winter, so camping windows vary by site. Wenatchee Confluence is a year-round camping park, though individual campsites are reservable only from April 1 through September 30, with first-come, first-served use outside that window. Domestic water at sites may be turned off during the coldest months.
Lincoln Rock State Park operates as a seasonal campground, with standard, partial, and full hookup sites first-come, first-served until May 15 and reservable through the summer. Cabins are available March 15 through October 15. The watercraft launch remains open year-round, but is not plowed during winter.
Sno-park season hinges on snowpack. Lily Lake Sno-Park features 100 miles of motorized snowmobiling trails, and Mad River Sno-Park features 191 miles of motorized snowmobiling trails. Grooming is suspended when snow is thin, so check current reports before driving up.

How to book near Sunnyslope
Both state parks reserve through the Washington State Parks system. Reservations for individual campsites and the group camp at Wenatchee Confluence may be made online at parks.state.wa.us or by calling (888) 226-7688, also reachable as (888) CAMPOUT. Lincoln Rock uses the same reservation portal, and standard, partial, and full hookup sites are first-come, first-served until May 15.
Maximum site length at both parks is 65 feet with limited availability, so larger rigs should book early. Day visitors require a Washington State Discover Pass, but overnight campers are exempt from this fee. A Chelan PUD Public Power Benefit Day Use Parking Pass is accepted in lieu of a Discover Pass at Lincoln Rock for Chelan PUD customers.
Sno-park access requires a separate Sno-Park Permit, available as a one-day or seasonal pass.
What to expect on site
Wenatchee Confluence is set up for family RV camping with spacious sites. The park offers 60 campsites total, eight standard sites and 52 full hookup sites, each with a picnic table and campfire grill, set on grassy areas with paved pads for vehicles and gravel pads for tents. A dump station, ADA-accessible restrooms, and showers are nearby, and cell service is generally good in the area.
Lincoln Rock State Park sits along the Columbia River and has 94 campsites total, including 32 full hookup sites, 35 partial hookup sites, and 27 standard tent sites, plus group camping and 12 cabins. Lawn areas including tent sites receive daily irrigation; site-specific watering times are posted on the board near the bathrooms.
The sno-parks are primitive winter trailheads, not developed campgrounds, with no hookups or services.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Sunnyslope,%20WashingtonWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Sunnyslope, WA?
A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Sunnyslope. Washington does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for personal-use motorhomes and trailers under 26,000 pounds, which covers virtually every rig on RVezy. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified inside the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you are set. Most guests are surprised how quickly they go from booking to keys-in-hand at pickup.

Booking is low-risk. RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy for every reservation, including a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in a Sunnyslope RV trip with confidence. Refund outcomes depend on factors like how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. If a host cancels on you, RVezy provides a full refund or travel credit. Full cancellation details live in your RVezy account and the Help Center, so you always know where you stand before you book.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Sunnyslope RV rental?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rental Sunnyslope options are plentiful because the area is a hiker's and dog-walker's paradise. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see rigs where dogs are welcome, and message the host before booking if you have a large breed or more than one pup. Once you are rolling, take your dog on the Apple Capital Loop Trail along the Columbia River, the off-leash area at Walla Walla Point Park, or the trails around Saddle Rock just minutes from Sunnyslope. Pack a collapsible water bowl, as summer pavement near the river gets hot quickly.
wenatcheewa.gov/government/departments/parks-recreationCan the RV be delivered to me in Sunnyslope?
Yes, RV delivery in Sunnyslope is one of the easiest ways to start your trip stress-free. Many hosts will drop the rig at your campsite, vacation rental, or a campground like Lincoln Rock State Park or Wenatchee River County Park, then handle leveling, hookups, and the walkthrough before they leave. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy and enter your destination address to see hosts who serve the Sunnyslope and greater Wenatchee Valley area. Delivery is a game-changer if it is your first time renting an RV or you simply do not want to tow over Blewett Pass. Book delivery to a campground with full hookups so your host can set everything up on arrival.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/parks/lincoln-rock-state-parkHow far can I drive from Sunnyslope on an RV trip?
Plenty far, and the scenery is spectacular in every direction. From Sunnyslope you are about 25 minutes to Leavenworth's Bavarian village, around 1 hour to Lake Chelan, roughly 2 hours 30 minutes to Grand Coulee Dam, about 3 hours to North Cascades National Park, and around 2 hours 30 minutes to Seattle over Stevens Pass. Mileage allowances are set by each host on RVezy; some offer generous daily allowances and a few advertise RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer journeys. Always check the mileage section on the listing, then message the host if you are planning a big loop. A 7-day Sunnyslope RV trip easily covers Leavenworth, Chelan, and the Methow Valley without feeling rushed.
nps.gov/noca/index.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Sunnyslope?
You have fantastic options minutes from your front door. Wenatchee River County Park sits right in Sunnyslope with full hookups and shaded riverfront sites. Lincoln Rock State Park, about 10 minutes north along the Columbia, offers swimming, a boat launch, and full-hookup sites. Daroga State Park, roughly 20 minutes north, is a hidden gem on a peninsula in the Columbia River. For a forested feel, head about 25 minutes west to Tumwater Campground in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest near Leavenworth. Squilchuck State Park offers tent and small-RV camping in the pines south of Wenatchee. Reserve Lincoln Rock 9 months ahead for summer weekends because it books fast.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/parks/lincoln-rock-state-parkWhen is the best time for RV camping in Sunnyslope?
Sunnyslope shines almost year-round thanks to its semi-arid climate on the dry side of the Cascades. Late April through June brings wildflower hillsides and highs in the 60s to 80s. July and August are hot and dry, often 90 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and perfect for Columbia River swimming. September and October are arguably the sweet spot with 70-degree days, cool nights, apple harvest, and brilliant fall color near Leavenworth. Winter brings snow and lows in the 20s, but motorhome rental Sunnyslope options with furnaces and heated tanks make ski trips to Mission Ridge fully doable. Aim for mid-to-late October for peak larch and cottonwood color.
weather.gov/otx/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?
You will do great, and you will not be figuring it out alone. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup or delivery, walking you through the generator, water systems, slide-outs, propane, and dump procedure. If it is your first time renting an RV, consider a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer; both drive much like a large pickup and handle the gentle grades around Sunnyslope easily. You can also message the host with questions before you book, right from the listing page. Do a short shakedown drive on US-2 toward Cashmere before tackling Blewett Pass, and you will feel like a pro within an hour.
wsdot.wa.gov/travel/real-time-travel/mountain-passesWhat happens if I have a breakdown during my Sunnyslope RV trip?
You are never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance through the protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you are parked at Lincoln Rock State Park or climbing toward Stevens Pass on US-2. Roadside covers common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. Your host is also a great first call for quirks specific to their rig, and RVezy customer support is available throughout your trip. Save the RVezy support number and your host's number in your phone before you leave Sunnyslope, since cell service can get spotty in the Entiat River canyon and parts of the Methow Valley.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Sunnyslope RV rental into Canada or other states?
Yes to both, with a quick heads-up to your host. Cross-border travel into British Columbia is popular from Sunnyslope; the Oroville border crossing is about 2 hours 30 minutes north. The host must approve cross-border travel in advance so insurance and protection coverage extend across the border. Interstate travel to Oregon, Idaho, and beyond is generally welcome; just confirm in your booking message. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because coverage does not extend there. A classic RV road trip from Sunnyslope loops north through the Okanogan, into the BC Okanagan wine country, and back down US-97; allow at least 7 days to enjoy it.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting is straightforward once you know your rig. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get roughly 8 to 12 MPG, Class A coaches around 7 to 10 MPG, and a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer typically sees 9 to 13 MPG. Gas prices in the Wenatchee Valley tend to run close to the Washington state average. For a 300-mile loop from Sunnyslope to Leavenworth, Chelan, and back, expect roughly $90 to $140 in fuel for a Class C. Fill up in East Wenatchee or Cashmere before heading into the Methow Valley, since prices can climb once you pass Pateros.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Sunnyslope?
Earlier is better, especially in summer. Washington State Parks like Lincoln Rock and Daroga open reservations 9 months in advance through the Washington State Parks reservation system, and prime weekends sell out the day the window opens. Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest campgrounds like Tumwater near Leavenworth book through Recreation.gov 6 months ahead. Wenatchee River County Park in Sunnyslope accepts reservations well in advance through Chelan County Parks. If you are flexible, Sunday through Wednesday nights at Lincoln Rock often have openings even in July, perfect for a midweek RV camping Sunnyslope getaway with the riverfront mostly to yourself.
washington.goingtocamp.com/What are the driving conditions like around Sunnyslope?
Sunnyslope itself is easy driving with wide roads, gentle grades, and quick access to US-2 and US-97. The terrain becomes more interesting once you leave the valley. Blewett Pass on US-97 climbs to about 4,102 feet, Stevens Pass on US-2 reaches about 4,061 feet, and both can require approved traction tires or chains during winter storms from November through March. Summer brings occasional wildfire smoke and slower traffic during apple harvest. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk along the Columbia River. Check WSDOT's mountain pass cameras before you head west, and use lower gears for steep descents like the eastbound side of Stevens Pass to save your brakes.
wsdot.wa.gov/travel/real-time-travel/mountain-passesWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Sunnyslope?
You will find a great mix. Lincoln Rock and Daroga State Parks offer full or partial hookups (water and electric, with some sewer sites), flush toilets, hot showers, dump stations, and potable water fill stations. Wenatchee River County Park has full hookups and is walking distance to services in Sunnyslope. National Forest campgrounds near Leavenworth typically offer vault toilets, potable water, and fire rings but no hookups, so plan to dry camp. Dump stations are available at most state parks for a small fee. Top off fresh water in Sunnyslope before heading into the Entiat or Methow valleys, since fill stations get sparse once you are past Pateros.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/parks/daroga-state-parkWhat's typically included in an RV rental in Sunnyslope?
Most rigs come ready to roll. A typical campervan rental Sunnyslope or motorhome includes a queen or full bed, a sofa or dinette that converts to extra sleeping, a kitchen with stove, fridge, sink, and microwave, an indoor bathroom with toilet and shower on Class B, C, and A motorhomes, air conditioning, a propane furnace, and seatbelted passenger seats. Many rigs include a generator for boondocking, and some offer onboard WiFi boosters or Starlink. Travel trailers offer the same interior amenities; you just need a tow-capable vehicle or you can ask the host about delivery. Every listing on RVezy has a detailed amenities list, so you know exactly what is onboard before you book.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for Sunnyslope rentals?
Sunnyslope hosts offer flexible options. Popular add-ons include camp chairs and tables, bedding and linen packages, generator use, bike racks, kayaks or paddleboards (great for the Columbia River), and propane refills. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Sunnyslope or East Wenatchee, but many hosts offer delivery to Lincoln Rock, Daroga, or Leavenworth-area campgrounds. Mileage allowances and add-on fees are set by each host and shown directly on the listing, with options for longer trips sometimes including higher mileage allowances. Add a paddleboard if you can, since you will want it on the Columbia.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Sunnyslope,%20WashingtonHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through RVezy at the time of booking using a credit or debit card, so no cash changes hands with the host. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment and is released after the trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. The deposit covers small items like extra cleaning or minor incidentals not handled by the protection plan. To avoid issues, do a quick walkaround video at pickup and dropoff, return the rig with the same fuel and propane levels, and follow the host's dump and cleaning instructions. Most Sunnyslope hosts are flexible if you communicate early about anything unexpected.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Sunnyslope for a winter ski trip?
Yes, and it is one of the best-kept secrets in the region. Sunnyslope sits about 25 minutes from Mission Ridge Ski Area, and several hosts keep four-season rigs available year-round with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces sized for cold nights. For a family RV trip Sunnyslope skiers love, look for rigs labeled winter-ready or four-season, and plan to stay at a park with full shore power like Wenatchee River County Park so you can run the furnace without draining batteries. Pack approved traction tires or chains, dress in layers, and book a midweek powder day; lift lines at Mission Ridge are typically much shorter Monday through Thursday.
