Campgrounds and RV parks near Glen Dale, WV

Glen Dale sits along the Ohio River in Marshall County, West Virginia, just south of Wheeling and adjacent to Moundsville. The area works well as an RV base for the Northern Panhandle, with campgrounds on both the West Virginia and eastern Ohio sides of the river, most within a 30-minute drive. Terrain is Appalachian foothills: wooded ridges, narrow river valleys, and county roads that can be steep and winding away from the main corridors. Grand Vue Park in Moundsville is the closest full-service option, a public park perched above the Ohio Valley with 40 full-hookup RV sites, cabins, and tent areas. Big Gs RV Campground and Barkcamp State Park sit across the river in Belmont County, Ohio, while Ernies Acres Campground and Hotel RV West Alexander extend the search north toward the Pennsylvania line. Access is via I-70, WV Route 2, and US 250. Big rigs should note that many nearby private parks have limited pull-through availability and back-in gravel pads, so confirm site length and turning access when booking.

Ohio state park sites, including Barkcamp State Park, are booked through the ReserveOhio system at reserveohio.com or by phone at 866-644-6727. An account is required, and campsite reservations open six months in advance, so popular summer and fall-foliage weekends fill quickly. Cancellations do open up regularly, and third-party alert tools can help catch them. Grand Vue Park handles RV reservations through its own online booking system, with tent sites arranged by calling the main office directly. Private parks such as Big Gs RV Campground, Ernies Acres Campground, and Hotel RV West Alexander typically take reservations by phone; confirm hookup type, pad length, and whether pets are permitted at the time of booking.
