Campgrounds and RV parks near Pea Ridge, WV

Water recreation drives most trips in the area. The 760-acre lake supports bluegill and bass fishing, while flat terrain throughout the camping area makes bike riding accessible for families, and the Beech Fork Lake Marina in the center of the park rents out paddle boats, canoes, and pontoons. Athletic fields for volleyball, tennis, basketball, and softball are on-site, and the Beech Fork Lake Wildlife Management Area is home to frogs, raptors, deer, and fox. Across the state line, Yatesville Lake covers 2,300 acres, has three islands, and averages 40 feet in depth, and its clean waters hold bass, bluegill, and crappie. The park also has an 18-hole par-71 Eagle Ridge golf course built on mountainous terrain, part of the Kentucky State Park System's Signature Series. Off-site day trips include Blenko Glass in Milton and Heritage Farm Museum near Huntington.

Camping seasons here run on two schedules: year-round options and seasonal state park loops that close for winter. At Beech Fork State Park, Old Orchard Campground is open year-round whereas Four Coves Campground, Moxley Branch Campground, and Lake View Campground are open seasonally. All Four Coves sites are available for reservation from mid-April through mid-October, and the 88 sites are equipped with 30-amp electric service only. On the Kentucky side, the Yatesville Lake campground operates on a seasonal schedule running roughly mid-March through mid-November. Kentucky State Parks cannot guarantee the availability of water or other resources at campgrounds during inclement weather months when freezing temperatures are possible, so contact the park directly if traveling during those months. Summer weekends are the busiest window. The Yatesville campground is relatively small, so booking in advance is recommended, especially during summer weekends when it fills with both campers and boaters. Fall brings cooler nights and peak leaf color across the Appalachian foothills.

Expect a mix of Appalachian lakeside camping and easy-access highway parks. At Beech Fork, most loops are wooded, and road access varies throughout the park, with some areas having challenging approach roads. Cell service and wifi remain limited throughout the area, though Wi-Fi is available at the park headquarters and Old Orchard Campground. Hookups vary by loop. Moxley Branch offers sites with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer, while Four Coves and Lakeview campgrounds are 30 amp electric only. At the Huntington / Fox Fire KOA Holiday, the campground sits directly adjacent to I-64, so highway noise carries into the property day and night. Bring a fishing rod, bug spray, and a lantern; nights are dark under the tree cover.
