Dan Noble State Wildlife Area - Southwest is a scenic camping destination near Norwood in western Colorado, centered around the stunning Miramonte Reservoir. Situated approximately 17 miles south of Norwood off Lone Cone Road, this remote area sits at roughly 8,000 feet elevation with breathtaking views of Lone Cone Mountain and the surrounding San Juan Mountains region. The reservoir spans 405 surface acres and is managed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, offering angling opportunities for rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout. Anglers also enjoy crayfish trapping along the shoreline. The area features 32 RV-compatible campsites on a first-come, first-served basis, with both developed and undeveloped camping options in designated areas around the lake. Toilet facilities are available on-site. Beyond fishing and camping, visitors can enjoy power boating, waterskiing, windsurfing, wildlife viewing, and hunting in season. Two boat ramps provide easy water access from the reservoir's eastern shoreline. A valid Colorado fishing or hunting license, or a State Wildlife Area pass, is required for entry.
