Rocky Point Recreation Area is a scenic campground situated on the shores of the 8,000-acre Belle Fourche Reservoir, just 8 miles east of Belle Fourche in western South Dakota. Created when the historic Orman Dam was constructed in 1911 — now a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark — the reservoir provides a stunning backdrop for outdoor recreation. The park features 62 campsites equipped with electrical, water, and 30-amp hookups, along with a dump station, flush toilets, showers, and a playground, making it a well-equipped destination for RV travelers. Water and lake enthusiasts will find boat launches, a swim beach, and a fish cleaning station, while the campground also offers an archery range, horseshoe pits, volleyball, and group picnic shelters. Activities abound for all ages, including fishing, boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing, birdwatching, geocaching, and biking on park roads. ADA-accessible facilities are available throughout the park. Located in the Black Hills region of South Dakota near Belle Fourche — known as the geographic center of the nation — Rocky Point Recreation Area is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding prairies, reservoirs, and wide-open western landscape.
