Great little RV to take on a road trip for 2 people and a dog! The benches and table cleverly convert to a comfortable bed. There is lots of storage space in the cabinets, under the benches, and in the ottoman. We drove the van to Newfoundland (via ferries) with no problems! Summer was quick to respond to all our questions before our trip and gave us a comprehensive rundown of the van at pickup. All in all great experience!

We rented Kyle’s van for an 8 day road trip around Newfoundland. We couldn’t be happier with the van and had an amazing experience with Kyle - he is responsive, personable, and very helpful. The van itself was exactly as advertised and the bed was very comfortable. Everything worked great. Couldn’t recommend this more!!

The Roadtrek was everything we had hoped for and more. It was well equipped with everything we needed and the ability to camp off-grid due to its solar power capabilities was awesome. Andrew was extremely thorough in explaining how everything worked and the written manual came in very handy. We were comfortable travelling with a medium sized dog and appreciated the vehicle being pet friendly.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Grand Falls-Windsor?

RV rental in Grand Falls-Windsor is affordable compared to mainland Canada hot spots. Expect motorhomes to average around $200 per night and travel trailers around $120 per night, with many hosts offering discounts on weekly and monthly bookings. To find a cheap RV rental in Grand Falls-Windsor, look for travel trailers (which a host can deliver and set up for you), book outside the July to August peak, and use the price filter on RVezy to set your nightly budget. Central Newfoundland is an affordable launch point on the island, so renting here instead of St. John's or Deer Lake can save money on your Newfoundland RV trip.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Newfoundland and Labrador?

Good news: a regular Class 5 driver's license (or its equivalent from your home province, state, or country) is all you need to rent an RV in Newfoundland and Labrador. That covers Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels you'll find on the platform. You'll just need to be 25 or older, and RVezy will confirm your ID through the booking process. Visiting from outside Canada or the US? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) if your license isn't in English or French. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple the paperwork is, leaving more time to plan the fun parts of your Grand Falls-Windsor RV trip.

Is my rental protected if something goes wrong on the road?

Yes, every booking on RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance included, so you can hit the Trans-Canada Highway out of Grand Falls-Windsor with peace of mind. The protection plan provides financial protection against damage to the vehicle. During checkout you choose the level of coverage that fits your trip. Whether you're heading west toward Gros Morne or north to Twillingate, you're backed by support if you have a flat tire, a dead battery, or need a tow. That safety net is a big reason first-time renters feel confident booking a motorhome rental in Grand Falls-Windsor.

What happens if I need to cancel my Grand Falls-Windsor RV booking?

Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy, which includes a full money-back grace period right after you book. After that, refunds depend on how far out your trip is, with additional flexibility considered for major weather events (helpful when traveling in central Newfoundland, where the occasional September tropical storm can roll in). If your plans change, go to your RVezy dashboard and start the cancellation there. Tip: book early to lock in the best RVs, knowing you have a built-in grace period if something unexpected pops up.

Can I bring my dog on a Grand Falls-Windsor RV trip?

Absolutely, and a pet-friendly RV rental Grand Falls-Windsor is easy to find. Filter for Pet-Friendly on RVezy and you'll see listings where dogs (and sometimes cats) are welcome, often with a small pet fee set by the host. Once you're on the road, your pup will love the Corduroy Brook Nature Trail right in town, plus Sanger Memorial RV Park and Beothuck Family Park both welcome leashed pets. Provincial parks in Newfoundland (like nearby Notre Dame Provincial Park) also allow leashed dogs on most trails and campsites. Pro tip: message the host before booking to share your dog's size and breed so they can confirm fit and share any pet rules upfront.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite or driveway?

Yes, RV delivery in Grand Falls-Windsor is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially for first-timers. Many hosts will drive the RV to Sanger Memorial RV Park, Beothuck Family Park, a driveway, or another nearby spot, level it, hook it up to power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees are set by the host and usually scale with distance from town. To find delivery-ready rentals, use the Delivery filter on RVezy or message the host directly from the listing page to ask about your specific address. That way your Newfoundland RV trip starts with you simply unpacking groceries instead of learning how to back into a campsite.

How far can I realistically drive from Grand Falls-Windsor in a week?

Quite far, actually. Grand Falls-Windsor sits dead-center on the Trans-Canada Highway (Route 1), making it the perfect launching pad for a Newfoundland RV trip. Twillingate and its icebergs are about 150 km (a 2-hour drive) north on Route 340. Terra Nova National Park is roughly 130 km (1 hour 20 minutes) east. Gros Morne National Park sits about 425 km (around 5 hours) west via the TCH. St. John's is about 425 km (5 hours) east. Most renters cover 200 to 400 km a day comfortably. Pro tip: ask your host about their mileage policy upfront, since some include generous daily kilometers and others charge per extra km on a Newfoundland RV trip.

Where should I stay in an RV near Grand Falls-Windsor?

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping Grand Falls-Windsor. Sanger Memorial RV Park on Scott Avenue has 47 full-hookup sites right along the Exploits River, with 30/50-amp service, clean showers, and easy access from Exit 20 of the TCH. Beothuck Family Park just outside town offers 50 sites with electric, water, picnic tables, and a family-friendly vibe (open May to September). Notre Dame Provincial Park, about 45 minutes northeast near Lewisporte, has serviced and unserviced sites surrounded by boreal forest. For the best campgrounds near Grand Falls-Windsor in July and August, book 4 to 8 weeks ahead because riverfront sites at Sanger fill up fast.

When is the best time to rent an RV in Grand Falls-Windsor?

The sweet spot for a Grand Falls-Windsor RV trip is mid-June through early September, when daytime highs run from about 18 to 24 C (65 to 75 F) and most campgrounds are open. July is the warmest month, averaging around 17 C (63 F) mean temperature with the longest daylight, while late May and June bring icebergs drifting into nearby Notre Dame Bay near Twillingate. September is a quiet, beautiful shoulder-season pick (cooler nights, fewer crowds, vibrant colors), though watch for the occasional late-season tropical storm. Winters here are snowy and freezing, so most rentals are summer-only. Pro tip: book by March or April for peak July and August dates because Newfoundland's short season means inventory disappears quickly.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?

You'll be fine, and most first-time renters in Grand Falls-Windsor are surprised how quickly it clicks. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving, propane, water, the generator, slide-outs, and dumping. If it's your first time renting an RV, start with a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan rental Grand Falls-Windsor; they drive more like a large van. Central Newfoundland's roads are great for new drivers, with wide shoulders on the TCH and light traffic compared to mainland cities. You also have 24/7 roadside assistance included with every booking. Pro tip: spend your first night at Sanger Memorial RV Park (just minutes off the TCH at Exit 20) so you can practice hookups before heading further afield.

What if something breaks down on the road?

Take a deep breath: 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every booking through RVezy's protection plan, no matter where in Newfoundland your adventure takes you. If you get a flat near Badger, a dead battery at Notre Dame Junction, or need a tow on the TCH between Grand Falls-Windsor and Gander, call the support line and get help dispatched. Your host is also a message away through the RVezy app for quick questions (where's the spare key, which propane valve is which). Tip: save the RVezy support number and your host's contact in your phone before you leave town, since cell service can be spotty in remote stretches of central Newfoundland.

Can I take the RV off the island, like to Nova Scotia or the US?

Often yes for Atlantic Canada, with a quick conversation up front. Many hosts in Grand Falls-Windsor are open to renters taking the Marine Atlantic ferry from Port aux Basques (about 5 hours west) or Argentia (about 5 hours east) over to North Sydney, Nova Scotia, for an extended RV road trip from Grand Falls-Windsor through the Maritimes. Just message the host before booking to confirm cross-province travel is okay and discuss ferry logistics. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance does not cover it. Pro tip: book the ferry months in advance for summer, especially if you want a cabin and a guaranteed sailing for a larger motorhome.

What should I budget for fuel on a Newfoundland RV trip?

Budgeting fuel is straightforward once you know the basics. Class B campervans average about 18 to 22 miles per US gallon, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A motorhomes 6 to 10 MPG. Gas in Newfoundland tends to run a bit higher than the national average; check current prices through the provincial Petroleum Pricing Office before your trip. A typical loop from Grand Falls-Windsor to Twillingate, Gros Morne, and back (around 1,100 km) might cost $200 to $400 CAD in fuel depending on your rig. Pro tip: fill up in Grand Falls-Windsor or Gander before heading to Twillingate or the Northern Peninsula, since gas stations get sparse on the smaller routes.
gov.nl.ca/dgsnl/pub-utilities/petroleum-pricing/

How far in advance should I book a campground?

For peak summer (July and August) in Newfoundland, aim to book campgrounds 2 to 3 months ahead, especially for riverfront sites at Sanger Memorial RV Park or oceanside spots at Dildo Run Provincial Park near Twillingate. Provincial park reservations open each spring through the Newfoundland and Labrador Parks reservation system online. Private parks like Beothuck Family Park take bookings directly through their websites or by phone. For shoulder season (June or September), 2 to 3 weeks ahead is usually plenty. Pro tip: build your itinerary around your campground bookings rather than the other way around, since the most scenic spots near Grand Falls-Windsor sell out first.

What are driving conditions like around Grand Falls-Windsor?

Honestly, they're some of the easiest in Atlantic Canada. The Trans-Canada Highway (Route 1) through Grand Falls-Windsor is a wide, well-maintained divided highway with light traffic outside of long-weekend rushes. Side routes like Route 340 to Twillingate are paved, two-lane roads with gentle curves. The main things to watch for are moose (especially at dawn, dusk, and overnight; collisions are a real risk so reduce speed at low light), sudden fog patches, and the occasional gravel-shoulder construction zone in summer. Avoid tight downtown side streets in town by using Exit 20 off the TCH directly onto Scott Avenue. Pro tip: most RV drivers stop driving by sunset to avoid moose, then enjoy a campfire instead.
gov.nl.ca/ti/road-info/

What can I expect at campgrounds near Grand Falls-Windsor?

Local campgrounds are well-equipped for a comfortable Newfoundland RV trip. Sanger Memorial RV Park offers 47 full-hookup sites (water, sewer, 30/50-amp electric), clean comfort stations with private showers, laundry, and walking trails connecting to Gorge Municipal Park. Beothuck Family Park has electric and water, picnic tables, fire grills, and toilets. Most private parks in central Newfoundland have dump stations on-site, and you can refill fresh water at any serviced site. Free Wi-Fi is hit-or-miss, so plan to use cellular data. Pro tip: stock up on groceries and propane at the big-box stores in Grand Falls-Windsor before heading north or west, since selection drops dramatically once you leave town.

What's actually inside the RV? Beds, kitchen, bathroom?

More than you'd expect. Even smaller rentals in Grand Falls-Windsor typically include a queen or double bed, a convertible dinette or bunk space, a propane stove and oven, a fridge/freezer, a microwave, a sink, and a wet or dry bathroom with a toilet and shower. Mid-size Class C motorhomes usually sleep 4 to 6 with a TV, an air conditioner, and a furnace for cool Newfoundland nights. Larger Class A and fifth wheels add slide-outs, full kitchens, and sometimes a second bathroom. Seatbelts are provided for every traveling passenger. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities tab carefully and message the host if you want specifics like a built-in generator or a backup camera for your campervan rental Grand Falls-Windsor.
tc.canada.ca/en/road-transportation/motor-vehicle-safety

What add-ons and options can I get with my rental?

Hosts in Grand Falls-Windsor often offer practical add-ons that make your trip easier: bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, camping chairs, propane fire pits, BBQs, bike racks, generators, and extra kilometers if you're planning a long Newfoundland RV trip. Many also offer delivery and setup for a flat fee, plus pickup and drop-off windows that flex around your schedule. Mileage policies vary by listing; some include unlimited mileage, others offer a daily km allowance with a per-km fee beyond that. All of this is shown right on the listing page, and you can message the host before booking to confirm details. Tip: bundling bedding, a kitchen kit, and delivery in one booking is the easiest way to arrive and just start your vacation.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Grand%20Falls-Windsor

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure: you pay the full rental cost through RVezy when you book (no cash to the host), using a credit card. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before pickup as protection against damage or extra cleaning, and is separate from your booking payment. As long as you return the RV in the same condition (and follow the host's mileage, generator, and pet rules), the deposit is released back to you after the trip. Final charges, deposit amount, and any add-ons are shown clearly during checkout, so there are no surprises. Tip: do a quick walkaround video at pickup and drop-off so you both have a record, making the deposit return fast and friction-free.

What's the local insider tip for a Grand Falls-Windsor RV trip?

Here's the secret central Newfoundland locals love: time your visit with the Salmonid Interpretation Centre's underwater viewing season (typically July through early September), when you can watch Atlantic salmon climb the fish ladder beside the Exploits River right in Grand Falls-Windsor. Pair that with an evening at the Queen Street Dinner Theatre, walk a stretch of the Corduroy Brook Nature Trail at sunrise, and base yourself at Sanger Memorial RV Park so you can stroll into town. From here, day-trip north to Twillingate (2 hours) for icebergs and whales in June, or east to Terra Nova National Park (1 hour 20) for coastal hiking. Few mainlanders realize Grand Falls-Windsor is the most convenient hub for both, making your RV rental Newfoundland and Labrador trip far easier to plan.
