Anthony was great right from our first communication with him. He answered all of our questions and made sure to be available if we had any other concerns during our trip. The trailer was very clean and well equipped, and easy to find all the things we needed during our stay. He was honest and polite, we did have an issue with the awning at one point and he made sure to give us all the information we needed. We would definitely book with him again for our annual camping trip in September- and he will have a repeat customer for sure! Thanks Anthony!

ontario.ca/page/driving-ontarioWhere are the best campgrounds near McKellar for RV camping?
You're spoiled for choice for RV camping McKellar trips. Candlelight on the Bay RV Resort at 545 Centre Road sits right in McKellar with full hookups and lake access, Riverlake Cottages and Campground on Lake Manitouwabing offers sandy beaches and a quiet family vibe, and Killbear Provincial Park (about 35 km west near Nobel) is the iconic Georgian Bay destination with 880 sites across seven campgrounds. A bit further afield, Grundy Lake Provincial Park and Oastler Lake Provincial Park round out the best campgrounds near McKellar. Pro tip: book Ontario Parks sites exactly five months ahead at 7 a.m., that's when the calendar opens and prime Killbear waterfront sites disappear within minutes.
ontarioparks.ca/park/killbear/campingWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip in McKellar?
Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot for a McKellar RV trip, with July and August bringing the warmest weather, daytime highs of 24 to 28 degrees Celsius and lake temperatures perfect for swimming. June offers fewer bugs than expected (Killbear's blackfly season usually lasts just 3 to 4 days in late May), while September delivers crisp mornings, warm afternoons, and dramatically fewer crowds. Early October paints the Parry Sound region in fiery reds and oranges, peaking around Canadian Thanksgiving. Pro tip: late August is the local insider's secret, the water is bath-warm, campgrounds quiet down, and you can usually score last-minute weekday RV rentals at lower rates.
ontarioparks.ca/park/killbearI've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one around McKellar?
You'll do great, and first time renting an RV in McKellar is honestly one of the easiest places to start. Highway 124 through McKellar is a quiet two-lane road with gentle curves, and Highway 400 connects you straight to Parry Sound without urban traffic stress. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, covering driving, hookups, slides, and dump procedures, and you can message them any time during your trip. Most renters say the first 30 minutes feel new, then it just clicks. Pro tip: do a short practice loop on McKellar's quieter side roads near Lake Manitouwabing before heading to your campground, you'll arrive feeling like a pro.
ontario.ca/page/driving-recreational-vehicle-rvWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my McKellar trip?
You're covered: every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you're parked at Candlelight on the Bay or exploring backroads near Hurdville. Roadside assistance handles common issues like flat tires, battery boosts, lockouts, and towing, and RVezy support is available around the clock to coordinate with your host. McKellar sits about 25 km from Parry Sound, where you'll find full service stations, auto shops, and a hospital if needed. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone before pickup and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and plate, it speeds up any service call.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my McKellar RV rental across the U.S. border or to other provinces?
Cross-border and cross-province travel is often possible with your McKellar RV rental, but you'll want to message the host first to confirm, since insurance coverage varies by listing. Travel within Canada to Quebec, Manitoba, or anywhere else is commonly allowed, and many hosts also permit U.S. trips to destinations like the Adirondacks, Niagara Falls NY, or Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Popular routes from McKellar include Manitoulin Island via the Chi-Cheemaun ferry, Algonquin Provincial Park, and Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula. Pro tip: bring your passport even for short Canadian trips, border officers may ask, and it's required for any U.S. crossing.
cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/menu-eng.htmlWhat's a realistic fuel budget for an RV trip from McKellar?
Budgeting fuel for an RV road trip from McKellar is straightforward. Class B campervans typically get 18 to 22 miles per gallon, Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 mpg, and large Class A rigs sit around 7 to 10 mpg. Gas prices in the Parry Sound region usually run a few cents per litre higher than southern Ontario, so fill up at the larger stations in Parry Sound on Bowes Street before heading north. A typical 4-day, 600 km loop in a Class C runs roughly $200 to $300 CAD in fuel. Pro tip: drive 90 km/h instead of 110 on Highway 400, you'll save 15 to 20 percent on gas and the Canadian Shield scenery flies by anyway.
ontario.ca/page/gasoline-pricesHow far in advance should I book campgrounds near McKellar?
For Ontario Parks like Killbear, Grundy Lake, and Oastler Lake, you can reserve exactly five months in advance through the Ontario Parks reservation system, and waterfront Killbear sites for July and August often sell out within minutes of opening. Private campgrounds around McKellar such as Candlelight on the Bay and Riverlake Cottages typically accept reservations 3 to 6 months ahead and have more last-minute flexibility. For a Canada Day or Labour Day weekend trip, book as early as possible. Pro tip: if Killbear is sold out, check the Ontario Parks reservation site repeatedly during the two weeks before your trip, cancellations open up daily and many campers nab dream sites this way.
reservations.ontarioparks.ca/What are the driving conditions like around McKellar?
Driving conditions around McKellar are RV-friendly for most of the year. Highway 124 from Parry Sound to McKellar is a well-maintained two-lane road with gentle hills and minimal traffic, and Highway 400 is a full four-lane divided expressway from Toronto north to Parry Sound. Watch for wildlife, especially deer and the occasional moose, at dawn and dusk, and slow down on shoulder gravel near scenic lookouts. Winter driving (November to April) brings snow and ice, so most renters stick to May through October. Pro tip: avoid Highway 400 northbound on Friday afternoons in summer, cottage-country traffic backs up significantly; leave Toronto before noon or after 7 p.m. for a smooth ride.
511.ontario.ca/What amenities and hookups can I expect at McKellar-area campgrounds?
Campgrounds around McKellar offer a mix that suits every comfort level. Private parks like Candlelight on the Bay RV Resort and Riverlake Cottages provide full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, and sewer), Wi-Fi, hot showers, and laundry. Ontario Parks like Killbear have electric sites in Kilcoursie Bay, Beaver Dams, and Harold Point campgrounds, plus comfort stations with flush toilets, showers, and laundry; potable water taps are scattered throughout the park, and a sani-station (dump) sits near the main gate. Pro tip: fill your fresh-water tank before leaving Parry Sound and dump on your way out, it saves time and you'll skip the busy morning queue at Killbear's dump station.
ontarioparks.ca/park/killbear/campingWhat features and amenities come standard in a McKellar RV rental?
Most RV rentals in McKellar come fully equipped for cottage-country comfort. Expect a real bed (or two), a kitchen with a fridge, propane stove, microwave, sink, and basic cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, a furnace, air conditioning, and seatbelts for everyone on board. Many listings also include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and even a Starlink or hotspot for evening streaming after a day on Lake Manitouwabing. Larger Class C and Class A rentals often sleep 6 to 8 with bunks and a convertible dinette. Pro tip: check the listing's amenity list for a generator if you're heading to non-electric sites at Killbear, it makes morning coffee and AC nights so much nicer.
tc.gc.ca/en/services/road/recreational-vehicles.htmlWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts in McKellar offer thoughtful add-ons that make your trip easier. Common extras include bedding and linen packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, outdoor chairs and tables, bikes, kayaks or SUPs (perfect for Lake Manitouwabing), generators, BBQs, and pet packages. Delivery and setup fees are usually based on distance from McKellar, with free delivery sometimes offered for local drop-offs within 20 km. Pickup and drop-off times, mileage caps, and generator-hour limits are clearly listed on each RVezy listing, so there are no surprises. Pro tip: bundle bedding plus a kitchen kit at booking, it's almost always cheaper than buying disposables in Parry Sound, and you'll arrive ready to camp the same evening.
parrysoundtourism.com/regions/mckellar/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment on RVezy is simple and secure: you pay through the platform with a credit card at booking, and your card details stay protected, no cash or e-transfers needed. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the trip, assuming no damage or extra fees like mileage overage. Reviewing the listing's mileage, generator, and cleaning policies up front is the easiest way to avoid surprises. Pro tip: do a quick walkaround photo set at pickup and drop-off, it's the single best habit for a smooth deposit release on your McKellar RV rental.
