Norman is fantastic to work with. We just completed our second trip with his van as repeat customers, and it was great yet again. He was incredibly responsive to our needs and questions, and was very flexible to our situation and always very accommodating. The van drives very well and was incredibly comfortable for our family of 4. Highly recommended!

You’re not going to get a better host than Bill or a nicer RV for that price point than this one! As a new RV user, we had a TON of questions before and during our trip. Bill could not have been easier to deal with and his communication was excellent throughout our rental. Bill made our trip trouble-free and AMAZING - Five stars all around for sure!

Jessica communicated well but the RV had more wear than what was shown in the pictures. The seats and trim were old and had wear. The generator would not start so we were not able to use it while traveling. The door between bedroom and kitchen was a constant struggle to open and close. For the price the camper was good. It drove well and had no mechanical issues.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Garden City, GA

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Garden City, GA?

RV rental in Garden City is one of the most affordable ways to experience the Savannah coast. Motorhomes near Garden City average around $200 per night, while travel trailers and towable units typically run closer to $120 per night, and most hosts offer 10 to 20 percent discounts for weekly or monthly bookings. Add the local campsite fee ($30 to $70 for basic sites at places like Savannah Lakes RV Resort, or $80 to $120 for resort-style sites at CreekFire RV Resort) and you have a full coastal Georgia vacation for well under the cost of a downtown Savannah hotel. Pro tip: book mid-week in late February or early March for the cheapest RV rental Garden City has to offer, before spring break demand kicks in.

Do I need a special license to rent and drive an RV in Garden City, Georgia?

Good news: a regular Class C driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Garden City. The Georgia Department of Driver Services explicitly exempts recreational vehicles from commercial driver's license (CDL) requirements under CDL Rule 1-1-.04, so you can drive almost any Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, travel trailer, or fifth wheel on the RVezy platform with your standard license. To book on RVezy you also need to be 25 or older, and you'll verify your ID right inside the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country auto association before your trip and you are set to roll across the Talmadge Bridge and into Savannah.

What protection or insurance comes with my Garden City RV rental?

Every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so your RV rental in Garden City is covered from the moment you pull off Highway 21. The protection plan covers most physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level during checkout (hosts do not set this, you do). It is not auto insurance in the traditional sense, but it provides real financial protection and peace of mind whether you are parked at CreekFire RV Resort or cruising out to Tybee Island. Pro tip: pick your protection tier before you finalize payment so the quote you see is the total you pay, no surprises.

What if my Garden City RV trip plans change? Can I cancel?

Booking is low-risk because RVezy (not the host) sets the cancellation policy, and there is a grace-period window after booking where you can cancel and receive a full refund. Beyond that window, refund eligibility depends on how far out from your trip you cancel and on special circumstances like hurricanes or tropical storms, which can affect the Savannah area during late summer and early fall. The cancellation policy is standardized across the platform and is not displayed on individual listings. Pro tip: book your Garden City RV trip early to lock in the best rigs near the Port of Savannah, then review the cancellation terms at checkout for full peace of mind.

Can I bring my dog on a Garden City RV rental?

Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental Garden City trip is one of the easiest ways to vacation with your pup along the Georgia coast. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see listings that welcome dogs, then message the host about breed, size, or any pet fees before you book. Skidaway Island State Park, just 20 minutes from Garden City, allows leashed pets at campsites (though not inside the camper cabins), and Red Gate Farms RV Resort and CreekFire RV Resort both welcome dogs. For city playtime, head to Daffin Park in Savannah, which has a fenced off-leash dog area. Bring a long lead for marsh-side walks at sunset, you will both love it.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in the Garden City area?

Yes, RV delivery Garden City is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is a game-changer if it is your first time renting an RV. Many local hosts will tow or drive the RV directly to your campsite at CreekFire RV Resort, Savannah Lakes RV Resort, Skidaway Island State Park, or even a private driveway, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees are set by the host based on distance and RV type, and you can filter for Delivery right on the search page. Pro tip: ask for delivery to Tybee Island's River's End Campground so you can wake up steps from the beach without ever towing a thing.

How far can I travel on a Garden City RV trip?

Garden City sits right on Interstate 95 and Interstate 16, making it one of the best launch points in coastal Georgia for an RV road trip. Popular routes from Garden City include Tybee Island (about 25 miles east), Hilton Head Island, South Carolina (about 45 miles north), Jekyll Island and the Golden Isles (around 90 miles south), St. Augustine, Florida (about 165 miles), and Charleston, South Carolina (around 110 miles up I-95). Each host sets their own mileage policy: some include a generous daily allowance, others offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for road-trippers. Pro tip: filter listings by daily mileage and message the host directly if you want to lock in a longer multi-state route.

Where are the best campgrounds near Garden City, GA?

You are spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping Garden City. Book Skidaway 3 to 6 months ahead through the Georgia State Parks site, it fills fast.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Garden City?

Coastal Georgia has a humid subtropical climate, so the sweet spot for a Garden City RV trip is mid-March through May and again from late September through November. Spring brings 70 to 82°F days, blooming azaleas, and signature events like the Savannah Music Festival and the Savannah Stopover. Fall delivers cooler 65 to 80°F days, far fewer mosquitoes, and dramatically lower humidity. Summers are hot and oppressive (July highs average 91°F with afternoon thunderstorms), while winters stay mild with January highs near 58°F, meaning year-round camping is genuinely on the table. Pro tip: April is peak wisteria-and-Spanish-moss season, book your RV 60+ days out for the best selection.

I'm a first-time RV renter. Will I be okay driving around Garden City?

You've got this, first time renting an RV in Garden City is one of the easier places in the country to start. Every host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, hookups, the generator, slide-outs, and the dump valves before you leave. Garden City itself has wide industrial roads and easy access to I-95 and I-16, so you can build confidence before heading to tighter spots like downtown Savannah's historic district (which you should avoid in a big rig anyway, park at the Visitor Center lot instead). If nerves are still creeping in, choose Delivery and let the host bring the RV straight to your campsite, you'll never have to drive it.

What happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

You are never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on I-95, a dead battery at CreekFire RV Resort, or a generator hiccup on Tybee Island is a single phone call away from help. You can also message your host directly through the RVezy app, and most local Garden City hosts respond quickly and know their RV's quirks better than anyone. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip if you need extra hands. Pro tip: snap photos at pickup of every system the host walks you through, it makes troubleshooting (and a possible call to roadside) much faster.

Can I take my Garden City RV rental across state lines or into Canada or Mexico?

Cross-state travel is welcome and easy, and it is one of the best reasons to book an RV road trip from Garden City. From here you can cruise up I-95 to South Carolina (Charleston is about 2 hours), continue north toward North Carolina's Outer Banks, or head south into Florida for St. Augustine, Daytona, or the Keys. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the specific listing and protection coverage, so message the host before booking if it is part of your itinerary. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because protection coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: a Garden City to St. Augustine round-trip is a perfect first multi-state RV trip.

What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for a Garden City RV trip?

Realistic fuel planning makes the difference between a stressful and a smooth trip. Class C motorhomes near Garden City typically average 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A motorhomes run 6 to 10 MPG, Class B campervans deliver a surprisingly thrifty 15 to 20 MPG, and if you tow a travel trailer with your own truck you will see whatever your tow vehicle gives you minus 2 to 4 MPG. Georgia gas prices typically sit just below the national average, with plenty of truck-friendly stations along Highway 21 and I-95 exits 99 and 109. Pro tip: top off in Garden City before crossing into South Carolina, fuel is usually a few cents cheaper on the Georgia side.

How far ahead should I reserve a campsite near Garden City?

Aim to lock in your campground reservation at the same time you book your RV. Georgia State Parks (including Skidaway Island State Park) open reservations 13 months in advance through the official Georgia State Parks site, and popular weekends from March through May and October through November sell out fast. Private parks like CreekFire RV Resort, Savannah Lakes RV Resort, and River's End Campground on Tybee Island typically book 3 to 6 months ahead for prime weekends. For last-minute trips, weekday arrivals at Skidaway often have openings even in shoulder season. Pro tip: if your dates are flexible, set a cancellation alert through a service like Campnab to snag sold-out sites.

What are the local driving conditions like around Garden City?

Driving an RV in and around Garden City is refreshingly manageable. The area sits at near sea level with flat, straight roads, and Interstates 95 and 16 are both within minutes, giving you easy access to anywhere on the coast. Skip driving a large motorhome into downtown Savannah's historic squares (narrow one-ways and low-hanging Spanish moss make it a tight squeeze) and park at the Savannah Visitor Center lot instead, which accommodates RVs. Watch for sudden afternoon thunderstorms from June through September, and be aware that the Talmadge Bridge to South Carolina has a 185-foot clearance but strong crosswinds. Pro tip: avoid I-516 and Highway 21 during weekday port-truck rush hours (7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.).

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Garden City?

Coastal Georgia campgrounds are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Most private parks near Garden City (CreekFire, Savannah Lakes, Red Gate Farms) offer full hookups with 30 and 50-amp electric, fresh water, and sewer at the site, plus pools, laundry, Wi-Fi, and dump stations. Skidaway Island State Park provides electric and water at every site with a central dump station, hot showers, and laundry. Potable water fills are easy to find at any of these parks, and if you need to dump between stops, both CreekFire and Savannah Lakes typically allow paid dump-only access. Pro tip: a 50-amp to 30-amp dogbone adapter is a smart $20 add to your packing list for older Georgia parks.

What features and amenities come standard in a Garden City RV rental?

You will be amazed how move-in ready these rigs are. A typical motorhome rental Garden City listing includes a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware), a wet bath or full bathroom with shower and toilet, sleeping for 4 to 8 depending on layout, roof and dash air conditioning (essential for Georgia summers), a furnace for cool winter nights, an awning, and outdoor camp chairs. Many include a generator, solar, a flat-screen TV, and Bluetooth stereo. Wi-Fi and seatbelts for every passenger vary by listing, so check the amenities section and message the host. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps and by amenities like Generator or Solar to match the rig to your trip style.

What add-ons and options can I get with my RV rental?

Most Garden City hosts offer optional add-ons that turn a good trip into a great one: linen and bedding packages, kitchen kits, camping chairs, outdoor grills, bike racks, paddleboards (perfect for the Skidaway Narrows), generators, propane refills, and even pre-stocked groceries. Pickup is usually at the host's location in or near Garden City, but RV delivery to your campsite is widely available for a host-set fee. Mileage policies range from 100 free miles per day to fully unlimited; you will see each policy clearly listed on the listing page. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linens package up front so when you arrive at CreekFire your only job is to crack open a cold drink.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple, secure, and handled entirely through the RVezy platform, you never hand a host cash or write a check. You pay your full rental amount plus any add-ons at booking using a credit or debit card. Most hosts also place a refundable security deposit hold on your card shortly before pickup, which is released after the host confirms the RV was returned in good shape. The exact deposit amount is shown on the listing before you confirm. Pro tip: do a thorough walk-around with the host at both pickup and return and snap timestamped photos, it is the single best way to protect your full deposit and avoid disputes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Can I handle Garden City's summer heat in an RV?

Yes, modern RV rentals in Garden City are well-equipped for coastal Georgia summers, which can hit 91°F with 70%+ humidity from June through August. Every motorhome and most travel trailers on RVezy come with rooftop air conditioning, and many hosts upgrade to dual AC units, which is a smart filter to apply for July and August trips. When you are dry camping or boondocking, you will need a generator to run the AC, so check the listing for one or rent it as an add-on. Pro tip: drive early in the morning to keep the engine cool, park in shaded sites (Skidaway Island's live-oak canopy is a lifesaver), and book a campground with a pool. The shoulder months of April, May, and October give you summer-warm beach days without the swelter.
