2018 Coachmen Class C
Adam made this experience seamless. From the many questions we had before our trip to prepare and during even though we rented on a holiday weekend he was quick to respond anytime. This RV made it so nice to travel a long distance with 5 family members and 4 dogs and we were comfortable the whole trip. The RV interior was very easy to get the animal hair out as well at the end. We wanted to spend our last road trip with our girl (dog) so this was extra special to us to get to do this as many hotels do not allow her size. Threw in some of our own pillows, dog fencing and gas grill since our kiddos allergic to wood and it was perfection! Gas mileage was exactly as Adam advised as well making it easy to budget for gas. Will be renting from him again!

What kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Jackson?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Jackson. Tennessee does not require a Commercial Driver License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use recreational vehicles, even for larger Class A motorhomes. On RVezy, you'll need to be at least 25 years old and upload a valid driver's license, which is verified securely through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most first-time renters are surprised by how simple the process is, so you can focus on planning stops like the Casey Jones Home and Railroad Museum.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Jackson?

Yes, first time renting an RV in Jackson is genuinely doable, and you won't be left to figure it out alone. Every RVezy host provides an in-person walkthrough at pickup covering driving tips, hookups, slide-outs, the propane system, and dumping basics. Jackson's roads are forgiving for beginners: I-40 is wide and flat, and the city itself has plenty of large parking areas at spots like the Casey Jones Village. Many renters choose a Class C motorhome or smaller travel trailer for an easier first trip. Pro tip: ask your host to record a short video of the walkthrough on your phone so you can rewatch the propane and water heater steps at your first campsite.

Your host is also reachable by message through the RVezy app for questions about the RV's systems, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number in your phone right after booking so you're ready before you even leave the driveway.

The area is mostly flat with rolling hills, I-40 is a wide four-lane interstate, and traffic is light outside of Memphis and Nashville rush hours. Watch for sudden summer thunderstorms (June through August) and occasional severe weather, since West Tennessee sits in a tornado-prone region. Winter ice storms are rare but possible from December to February. Pro tip: download the National Weather Service Memphis radar to your phone before your trip, since storms can pop up quickly along I-40 between Jackson and Memphis.

Campgrounds near Jackson are well-equipped for a comfortable family RV trip. Most private parks offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, and sewer), Wi-Fi, laundry, and hot showers. State parks like Natchez Trace's Pin Oak Campground provide full hookups plus a lake beach, boat ramp, and dump station. You'll find potable water fill stations and dump stations at most campgrounds, plus propane refills available at farm and ranch retailers in Jackson. How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment for your RV rental in Tennessee runs entirely through the secure RVezy platform: no cash, no checks, no awkward driveway exchanges. You'll pay through the platform using a credit or debit card, and the funds are held until after pickup, which protects both you and the host. Pro tip: walk around the RV with your host at pickup and snap dated photos of any pre-existing scratches or scuffs, then upload them to your RVezy message thread so the deposit return is fast and stress-free.

Where can I park or stay overnight in an RV in Jackson?

Where to park an RV in Jackson is easier than you'd think. For full hookups, head to private RV parks along the I-40 corridor or to Natchez Trace State Park's Pin Oak Campground and Chickasaw State Park, both within 30 minutes. Some Walmart and Cracker Barrel locations in the region allow free overnight RV parking with manager permission, which is handy for a one-night layover on I-40. Pro tip: always confirm overnight parking with the property or campground first, since city ordinances generally prohibit overnight street parking of RVs in residential Jackson, and you'll avoid any early-morning knocks on the door.
