Jacob was great to work with, the rv was great, simple to set up and operate. Everything needed to hook up water, elect, and sewer was provided, plus some. We towed with a Dodge 2500 4dr, 8’ bed Cummins diesel, towed like a dream with a straight hitch even in the west Texas winds from Arlington TX to Ruisoso NM and back. I was very happy with the RV, and the owner. 5 stars

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Lakewood Village, TX

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Lakewood Village, TX?

RV rental in Lakewood Village is one of the most affordable ways to explore North Texas and Lake Lewisville. Travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run about $175 to $275, and larger Class A coaches range from $250 to $400. Booking midweek (Sunday through Thursday) and avoiding holiday weekends like Memorial Day and Fourth of July can shave 20 to 30 percent off your total. For a cheap RV rental in Lakewood Village, look for travel trailers that hosts deliver to a nearby lakefront campground so you skip towing fees too. Pro tip: many North Texas hosts offer weekly discounts, so a 6 or 7 night Lake Lewisville stay can be a steal.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Lakewood Village?

Good news: your regular Class C Texas driver's license (or the equivalent from your home state) is all you need to rent an RV in Lakewood Village for almost every motorhome and travel trailer on RVezy. Texas only requires a non-commercial Class A or Class B license if the RV has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,000 pounds, and the vast majority of rentals here, including Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and most travel trailers and fifth wheels, fall well under that. You will need to be at least 25 years old, and RVezy verifies your ID directly through the platform during booking. That is it, no CDL, no extra test.

What if I need to cancel my Lakewood Village RV rental?

Booking is low-risk. RVezy applies a clear, standardized cancellation policy to every reservation, with refund amounts based on how far in advance you cancel. Cancellation policies are set by RVezy (not by individual hosts), which keeps things consistent and fair. If a host cancels on you, RVezy will help you find a comparable RV or provide a refund or travel credit. For weather-related issues like North Texas ice storms or severe spring storms, contact RVezy support and they will walk you through your options for your Lake Lewisville trip.

Can the RV be delivered and set up for me?

Yes, and it is the easiest way to start a Lakewood Village RV trip, especially if it's your first time. RV delivery in Lakewood Village is offered by many hosts, who will drive the rig to your campsite at Lake Park, Pilot Knoll, Stewart Creek, or even a private driveway in the surrounding Denton County area. They will level it, hook up water, power, and sewer, deploy the awning, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to find these listings instantly. Delivery fees usually run $2 to $4 per mile from the host's location, and for many first-time renters it is worth every penny.

How far can I drive, and is unlimited mileage available?

Plenty of hosts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is perfect for a longer RV road trip from Lakewood Village. Most listings include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with extra miles billed at $0.30 to $0.50 each. To put that in perspective: Hidden Cove Park is about 15 miles away, Ray Roberts Lake State Park is roughly 30 miles north, Dinosaur Valley State Park sits about 95 miles southwest, Broken Bow Lake in Oklahoma is about 200 miles, and Big Bend is a longer 540-mile haul. Filter for unlimited mileage on RVezy to compare options, and you will spend less time watching the odometer and more time enjoying the drive.

Where are the best campgrounds near Lakewood Village?

You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Lakewood Village are all within a 15-minute drive on Lake Lewisville's shoreline. Lake Park Campground in Lewisville (1900 Kingfisher Dr) has shaded RV sites, a free dump station, and Wi-Fi. Pilot Knoll Park in Highland Village offers waterfront sites and easy boat-ramp access. Stewart Creek Park in The Colony has spacious lakefront pads. Hidden Cove Park on the east shore features full hookups, hiking trails, and a swim beach. For a state-park feel, Ray Roberts Lake State Park (Isle du Bois Unit) is about 30 minutes north with pristine pine-shaded loops. Most fill up fast on summer weekends, so book your RV camping in Lakewood Village trip 60 to 90 days out.

When is the best time to rent an RV in Lakewood Village?

North Texas gives you a long camping season. The sweet spots are mid-March through May and mid-September through early November, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s and 80s and evenings are cool enough for a campfire. Summer (June to August) is hot, with regular 95 to 100 degree days, so look for an RV with strong air conditioning and a campsite with shore power. Winters are mild, with highs in the 50s and 60s and only a handful of freeze nights, which means a Lakewood Village RV trip is genuinely viable year-round. Insider tip: book a campervan rental in Lakewood Village for the bluebonnet bloom in early April for unbeatable photo ops.

I've never rented an RV before, will I actually be okay?

Yes, first time renting an RV in Lakewood Village is genuinely friendly. Every host on RVezy provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water system, propane, awning, and dump procedure before you drive away. You can message any host through the listing before booking with questions about size, ease of driving, or what to expect. Many first-timers skip the driving entirely by choosing delivery to a Lake Lewisville campground, so your only job is showing up with groceries. If you prefer to drive, a Class C motorhome or campervan rental in Lakewood Village handles much like a large van.

What happens if something goes wrong on my trip?

Help is one call away, day or night. Every booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance with the RVezy renter protection plan, covering tire changes, jump-starts, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing. If something inside the RV stops working, like the fridge, water pump, or AC, message your host directly; many Lakewood Village area hosts live nearby and can troubleshoot quickly. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after your trip. With I-35E, the Sam Rayburn Tollway, and US-380 minutes from Lakewood Village, service is never far away, so you can focus on the lake.

Can I take my RV out of state or across the border?

Yes, road-tripping out of Texas is welcome on most rentals. A classic RV road trip from Lakewood Village hits Oklahoma's Beavers Bend State Park (about 3.5 hours), Arkansas's Hot Springs (about 6 hours), or New Mexico's Carlsbad Caverns (about 8.5 hours). Some hosts allow travel into Canada with advance approval, so message before booking if that's your plan. One important rule: travel into Mexico is not allowed on any RVezy rental because insurance and protection coverage do not extend there. Stick to the US (and Canada with host approval) and you've got the entire continent's road network at your fingertips.
nps.gov/cave/index.htm

What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for?

Realistic numbers help you plan: a Class B campervan averages 18 to 22 mpg, a Class C motorhome runs 10 to 14 mpg, and a Class A coach is closer to 7 to 10 mpg. Truck-and-travel-trailer combos land around 10 to 13 mpg depending on the tow vehicle. Gas prices in the Lakewood Village area typically run a bit below the national average; nearby stations along FM 720 and US-380 in Little Elm and Aubrey are usually the cheapest. For a 3-night, 250-mile loop around Lake Lewisville and Ray Roberts Lake in a Class C, budget roughly $80 to $110 in fuel. Filling up before returning the RV is standard on RVezy.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground?

For prime weekends on Lake Lewisville, book 60 to 90 days out, and for holiday weekends or spring break, push that to 6 months. The US Army Corps of Engineers parks around the lake (like Hickory Creek) take reservations through Recreation.gov on a rolling 6-month window. City-of-Lewisville sites like Lake Park Campground are reserved by phone at 972-219-3742 or by emailing [email protected]. Ray Roberts Lake State Park bookings go through Texas Parks and Wildlife up to 5 months in advance. Insider tip: weeknight stays are wide open even in peak summer, so a Sunday-through-Thursday RV camping Lakewood Village trip is the easiest way to score a great lakefront site.

What is driving an RV like around Lakewood Village?

The roads here are RV-friendly, which is great news for first-timers. Lakewood Village sits in flat North Texas terrain on the northeast shore of Lake Lewisville, with wide rural roads like FM 720 and Eldorado Parkway leading right into town. Avoid the Dallas North Tollway during weekday rush hour (7 to 9 am and 4 to 7 pm) where lanes narrow and traffic stacks up; instead, use US-380 or the Sam Rayburn Tollway for east-west moves. Watch for occasional spring thunderstorms with high crosswinds, and never drive through flooded low-water crossings, which can pop up after heavy rain. Most local bridges have 13'6" or higher clearance, easily accommodating a standard motorhome.
txdot.gov/safety/driving-laws.html

What amenities do local campgrounds offer, and where can I dump and refill water?

You'll find solid infrastructure all around Lake Lewisville. Lake Park Campground in Lewisville offers full hookups (water, 30/50 amp electric, sewer at many sites), restroom and shower buildings, coin laundry, Wi-Fi, and a free dump station that's open even if you stayed elsewhere. Pilot Knoll and Stewart Creek Park have water and electric with a centralized dump. Hidden Cove Park offers full hookups plus a swim beach. For potable water refills on the road, most Buc-ee's locations (including the giant Denton store, about 20 minutes away) and Love's truck stops along I-35E have RV-friendly fill stations. Quiet hours at most local parks are 10 pm to 8 am, so plan arrivals before dark.
playlewisville.com/facilities/rv-campground

What features and amenities will be inside my rental RV?

More than you might expect. A typical motorhome rental in Lakewood Village includes a queen or king bed, convertible dinette or bunk beds (Class C and travel trailers often sleep 6 to 8), a full kitchen with fridge, microwave, stove, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, roof-mounted air conditioning (essential for Texas summers), propane furnace, and seatbelts for travel passengers. Many North Texas listings also include a TV, onboard generator, outdoor speakers, and a power awning. Wi-Fi varies, so plan for a hotspot if you need to work. Each listing page shows exactly what's included, and you can message the host to confirm specifics before you book.
nps.gov/subjects/camping/rv-camping.htm

What add-ons and options can I get with my rental?

Hosts make it easy to customize. Popular add-ons for a family RV trip Lakewood Village families love include bedding and linen packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits with pots, plates, and utensils ($25 to $50), camp chairs and outdoor tables ($15 to $30), bike racks, kayaks or stand-up paddleboards (perfect for Lake Lewisville), portable grills, and generators for off-grid stays. Pickup and dropoff are usually at the host's home or storage lot in the Denton or Little Elm area, but many offer delivery directly to your campsite for a per-mile fee. Mileage policies show on each listing, with 100 to 150 free miles per night typical and some listings offering unlimited mileage for road trips.

How does payment work, and what should I expect for the security deposit?

Payment is handled entirely through RVezy, which keeps everything safe and traceable. You pay through the platform at booking using a credit or debit card, covering the rental, protection plan, taxes, and any add-ons. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized separately from your booking payment and released after your trip, assuming no damage or excess cleaning. To make things smooth: take date-stamped photos of the RV exterior and interior at pickup and dropoff, return it with the same fuel and propane levels, and dump the tanks if your agreement requires it.
