    The southeastern end of the park features naturally formed tide pools home to sea stars, anemones, crabs, sea urchins, and octopi. The visitor center also features an indoor tide pool with live marine animals. Best explored during low tide.

    Follow the Coastal Vista Trail east to the Harbor Seal Preserve where seals and sea lions bask year-round. Observation points offer close views of marine mammals without disturbance. Whales are occasionally spotted offshore.

    Hikers can walk the mile-long beach in either direction, with the southeastern route passing the Tar Pits and Harbor Seal Preserve. Ambitious hikers can reach Rincon Point (3 miles one way). The Carpinteria Bluffs Public Open Space offers 53 acres of trails with ocean views.
