The southeastern end of the park features naturally formed tide pools home to sea stars, anemones, crabs, sea urchins, and octopi. The visitor center also features an indoor tide pool with live marine animals. Best explored during low tide.
Follow the Coastal Vista Trail east to the Harbor Seal Preserve where seals and sea lions bask year-round. Observation points offer close views of marine mammals without disturbance. Whales are occasionally spotted offshore.
Hikers can walk the mile-long beach in either direction, with the southeastern route passing the Tar Pits and Harbor Seal Preserve. Ambitious hikers can reach Rincon Point (3 miles one way). The Carpinteria Bluffs Public Open Space offers 53 acres of trails with ocean views.
The sandy beach provides safe swimming and is known as one of the world's safest beaches. The park also supports surf fishing and surfing activities.
Carpinteria Creek lagoon in the center of the park is a prime bird-watching location. The creek and surrounding wetlands support diverse waterfowl and coastal bird species.
Educational programs including Junior Ranger activities and campfire programs are offered seasonally. The Tomol Interpretive Play Area in the northwest corner provides cultural and historical learning opportunities.
What an amazing trip!! Oscar and his crew (his 2-boys 💪) came out and got everything setup the day we were scheduled to arrive, even had chairs setup with a nice mat in the front area! The trailer had everything you could imagine, and even had speakers inside/out for full party 🥳 mode when needed! We were 2-adults, 1-kid, 1-infant and had plenty of space. We hadn't been camping in a while, and first time with the kiddos, so this made everything so EASY!! After we were done, Oscar and his boys came to take down the trailer (probably 15-minutes total!) and they were gone! Will definitely be booking with Oscar and his boys again! Thanks for the wonderful family memories, cheers 🍻

Oscar is the best host! Friendly and welcoming. Communication and planning were excellent. He had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. RV was clean and well stocked. Oscar explained all the features and functions clearly and accurately. I accidentally gave the wrong spot number and Oscar swapped us over no problem and all smiles. Highly recommend this host.
