Late spring through early fall, roughly May to September, offers the most reliable conditions for crossing Porlier Pass and enjoying the beaches. Water is available from May 1 to September 30. July and August bring the warmest, driest weather but also the busiest boat traffic in the Gulf Islands. Shoulder months like May, June, and September provide milder temperatures, fewer visitors, and better wildlife viewing, though paddlers should still plan carefully around tidal currents.

Kayaking is the most common way for non-boaters to reach Dionisio Point, paddling in from launches on Galiano Island. The park provides opportunities for walk-in camping, fishing, boating, kayaking, wildlife viewing and scuba diving. Paddlers must plan carefully around the strong currents in Porlier Pass. bcparks.ca/dionisio-point-park/
The park has a small network of trails ideal for exploring on foot once you arrive by boat. The park offers a number of hiking opportunities on trails leading through the forest and along the shoreline. Expect easy to moderate walking with ocean viewpoints. bcparks.ca/dionisio-point-park/
Porlier Pass is a well-known Gulf Islands dive site thanks to nutrient-rich tidal flows. An abundance of marine life due to a high current zone makes this a good spot for scuba diving, but as currents are strong, this area is only recommended for experienced divers. bcparks.ca/dionisio-point-park/
Dionisio Point is a year-round destination for spotting Gulf Islands wildlife from shore or kayak. Dionisio Park offers great opportunities for year-round viewing of marine life, including seals, sea lions, and otters, as well as shorebirds and bald eagles. bcparks.ca/dionisio-point-park/
The park's carved sandstone shoreline creates excellent tide pools for close-up nature viewing. Sea-stars, nudibranchs, and chitons can be seen in the tide pools, and at times large quantities of swimming scallop shells can be found on the beaches. bcparks.ca/dionisio-point-park/
Anglers can cast from shore or boat in the productive waters around Porlier Pass. There are fishing opportunities in this park, and anyone fishing in British Columbia must have an appropriate licence. Check Fisheries and Oceans Canada regulations before your trip. bcparks.ca/dionisio-point-park/
Coon Bay is the park's main gathering point for a picnic lunch after arriving by boat. This park has a day-use/picnic area in the vicinity of Coon Bay, with facilities including pit toilets, picnic tables, a cold water hand pump and an information shelter. bcparks.ca/explore/parkpgs/dionisio_pt/

Dionisio Point Provincial Park, BC, Canada
Dionisio Point is on the northeast tip of Galiano Island and cannot be reached by road, so RV travelers typically stage a rig on Galiano Island or a nearby Gulf Island and complete the trip by boat or kayak. Access to the park is by boat only as the private access road is closed and gated. BC Ferries serves Galiano Island at Sturdies Bay from Swartz Bay near Victoria and from Tsawwassen south of Vancouver; RVers should confirm vehicle length limits and reserve ferry space well in advance, and be aware of narrow, winding island roads not suited to oversize rigs. The nearest airports for fly-and-rent travelers are Victoria International (YYJ) and Vancouver International (YVR), with Nanaimo (YCD) also convenient for Vancouver Island staging.
