Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons for RV travel, with mild daytime temperatures, lower humidity, and good conditions for hiking and paddling. April and May bring wildflowers and active birdlife, while October and early November offer colorful hardwood foliage along the bluffs. Summers are hot, humid, and buggy but popular for lake fishing and family camping. Winters are generally mild, making shoulder-season trips feasible, though cold snaps and occasional ice storms can occur.

Designated equestrian trails wind through the park's forested ridges and hollows. Riders bring their own horses and use dedicated trailhead parking that can also handle larger trucks and trailers. Check seasonal conditions before heading out.

Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, TN, United States
The park sits in northwest Shelby County, roughly 30 to 40 minutes by road from downtown Memphis and about 20 minutes from Millington. Most RV travelers approach via Interstate 40 or Interstate 240 to US-51 North, then use local county roads; the final approach includes narrow, winding park roads with tree canopy, so low-clearance big rigs should plan turns carefully. Nashville is approximately 210 miles east via I-40, and Little Rock is about 135 miles west. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Memphis International Airport (MEM), about 30 miles south of the park.
