May and September can deliver quiet sites and cool nights, with overnight lows near or below freezing possible at the shoulders. Winter is not a camping season for most travellers here: gates close, water is shut off, and snow cover is reliable from November into March. Fire bans are common in dry summers and are posted through Alberta Wildfire.

Pembina River Provincial Park has 132 individual campsites in both forested and open environments, plus a group campground, open-air shelter, picnic areas, and a playground.
