Campgrounds and RV parks near Coldstream, BC

Kalamalka Provincial Park Cosen's Bay is the main draw. There are three main beaches in the park: Jade Bay, Juniper Bay, and Cosens Bay, each providing access to swimming in Kalamalka Lake. Cosens Bay is reached by a roughly three kilometre hike from the park entrance, flanked by grassland trails that provide a vantage point over the sand and turquoise water, and is only accessible by hike or boat. The park is also a hiking and mountain-biking base. The Cosens Creek area south of Cosens Bay Road is a multi-use trail system maintained by the North Okanagan Cycling Society and offers some of the best mountain biking in the North Okanagan. The Rattlesnake Point lookout is a shorter option with big lake views. Off the water, families use Cedar Falls Campground and RV Park as a base for the BX Falls trail and Silver Star Mountain, and Swan Lake RV Park Campground for fishing, paddling, and boat rentals on Swan Lake.

Summer is peak season. July and August are hot and dry, the beaches at Cosens Bay, Jade Bay, and Juniper Bay fill up, and full-service RV parks fill weeks ahead. Silver Star RV Park offers 88 sites and is open March through October. Swan Lake RV Resort operates as a big-rig-focused park with full-hookup sites and a seasonal spring-through-fall pattern. Shoulder seasons are quieter and often better for exploring the park itself. Wildflowers bloom in the Kalamalka grasslands in spring, and fall brings cooler nights with colour in the Coldstream Valley. Wildfire smoke and campfire bans are a real factor across the Okanagan in mid to late summer. Winter shifts the mix. Cedar Falls Campground and RV Park is open all year, is family-friendly, and sits enroute to Silver Star Mountain, making it a practical base for ski-hill trips. Trails in Kalamalka Lake Park can be icy in the late winter and early spring, as compacted snow turns to ice and is the last to melt, so grippers or cleats for boots and hiking poles are recommended.

Expect full-service RV facilities close to Vernon and simpler, treed sites as you move up toward Silver Star. Silver Star RV Park is on Swan Lake with 88 sites, 50 full hookups, and 15/30/50 amp service, plus laundry, a mini-store, firepits, free warm showers, and a heated pool. It is RV-focused rather than tent-focused. Cedar Falls Campground and RV Park sits in a cedar grove closer to the mountain, with renovated washrooms with coin showers, a seasonal store, laundromat, 30/50 amp service, and serviced and unserviced sites with raised tent pad areas. At Kalamalka Provincial Park Cosen's Bay, plan for day-use rules. There are no facilities at this park for camping, and campfires are not permitted. Bears inhabit the park and cougars are occasionally present. Watch for rattlesnakes in the grasslands, keep dogs leashed outside the designated pet beaches, and carry water for hot, exposed trails.
